[PATCH] Apple Video Encoder (rpza)
by ffmpeg.php＠gmail.com 24 Jan '11

24 Jan '11

Attached is a patch to add support for Apple Video encoding (rpza). The quality settings are defined at compile time right now since I wasn't really sure how to map ffmpeg's numerous video options to the capabilities of rpza. It supports all rpza encoding opcodes but the 4-color block encoding doesn't try to do multiblock runs yet. -Todd

Possible bug in h264 dec
by francis_labonte＠hotmail.com 23 Jan '07

23 Jan '07

Hi, Runnning valgrind on a file, I got some invlid read. It points to: H264_CHROMA_MC8_TMPL in dsputil_h264_template_mmx.c called by mc_dir_part in h264.c In my opinion, I think it could come from here: if( full_mx < 0-extra_width || full_my < 0-extra_height || full_mx + 16/*FIXME*/ > pic_width + extra_width || full_my + 16/*FIXME*/ > pic_height + extra_height) "<" should become "<=" for the 2 FIXME. An index ( mx, my) ranging from 0-... is compared to a size ranging from 1-,,, Applying my modification fix my invalid. I would like to have have some input to know if my analysis make sens or not! Thank you Francis NOTE: I'me not using the latest version of CVS, but this line didn't change in HEAD, and a friend told me he got similar result with HEAD version.

SIGSEGV in h264.c, stream is available for debugging

Anyway, I've managed to increase the number of max reference pics (at least from what I could understand from the code), from 16 to 32 in h264.c, and it seems to help a little (the stream above now decodes to the end). btw, nice symbolic constants would be nicer than things like that spread all over the code: for (i = 0; i < 16; i++) ... Picture* delayed_pics[16]; etc... :-) The above stream now decodes ok, but the following one fails with "getbuffer() failed" and consequently (no checks for the getbuffer calls) SIGSEGV. I assume there is some leak somewhere? http://bule.ip.tv/~dario/dump.SIGSEGV.1.h264 Again, I'd appreciate any help on the subject. Regards, Dario Andrade R&D IP.TV

[PATCH] demuxer for dcinema audio
by Reimar.Doeffinger＠stud.uni-karlsruhe.de 30 Aug '06

30 Aug '06

Hi, I'd like to suggest the attached patch for demuxing D-Cinema audio. It's not exactly beautiful since it does something like decoding (changing the bit order), but I though it to be the easier solution over adding a special decoder (since it isn't used anywhere else). The smil file that came with it said it was of the format "audio/302m", and I assume it is SMPTE 302M uncompressed audio, but I don't have the specs. Please tell me what you think about it... Oh, some samples (I already extended the MPlayer mpeg demuxer to play the gxf file): Address: ftp://www.ropa-net.de Username: web49f4 Password: 123456 Greetings, Reimar D?ffinger

FFMPEG on Windows
by kirantulasi＠rediffmail.com 27 Feb '06

27 Feb '06

Hi, I need to build ffmpeg on Windows. I find that it is currently available on Linux. There were some instructions for building it on Windows by using MinSYS and MinGW but I had a tough time in making use of them for this purpose. Can anyone of you tell me if there is a MSVC workspace (*.dsw) or a project (*.dsp) available which I can use directly? I tried building a MSVC workspace using the ffmpeg files but I found that many files have main() and I was not sure how to build them. Another thing I would like to know is can I find a complete list of codecs (audio and video) which are supported by the container formats AVI, ASF and MPG? I need to build a transcoder which can take inputs in these container formats. Thanks in advance, Kiran

Question about FAQ 1.3
by lucabe72＠email.it 24 Feb '06

24 Feb '06

Hi all, http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/faq.html#SEC4 says: "Currently, the grabbing stuff does not handle synchronisation correctly. You are free to correct it. A fix is planned." Is this still true, or is it just an old FAQ that has not been updated? I sporadically use ffmpeg or libavformat to grab audio and video, but I do not remember seeing big synch problems recently... But maybe this is just a "long-term stability" issue and I am grabbing for a too short time? If the bug is still there, can someone explain how to reproduce it (and give me a hint about what is wrong... I looked at the code, and everything seems to be correct)? Is the bug in libavformat, or in ffmpeg.c? If someone can give me some hints and if I am able to reproduce the problem, I am willing to fix it. Otherwise, maybe it's time to update the FAQ. Question about libavutil
by lucabe72＠email.it 24 Feb '06

24 Feb '06

Hi all, what's the rule of libavutil? Is it intended to contain all the common utility functions shared between libavcodec and libavformat? If yes, why are the av_*alloc() functions in libavcodec and not in libavutil? Would a patch that moves the av_*alloc() functions in libavutil be accapted? Same questions for av_log() & friends... I am asking because I have an application which only uses libavformat, and I'd like to compile it without linking libavcodec. But that's currently not possible because of av_alloc(), av_log(), and similar functions. Hi All, Attached patches add threading support for OS/2 - as well as enabling the test for freetype2, and allowing network support. Patch DURATION_MAX_READ_SIZE in lavf/utils.c
by rothgang＠uiuc.edu 24 Jan '06

24 Jan '06

The setting of DURATION_MAX_READ_SIZE in lavf/utils.c is a bit too small to get ahead of the last I frame in one of the chapters of "Run Lola Run". Didn't titrate for an exact amount. This patch fixes the problem, and hopefully isn't too excessive. -- Fred

[RFC] Support building universal binaries of FFmpeg on Darwin
by danchr＠opendarwin.org 22 Jan '06

22 Jan '06

Hi, Attached below is an initial patch to allow building a universal, or fat, binary of FFmpeg on Darwin 8.0 and later using GCC 4.0. The generated binary will contain 4 architectures: G3, G4, G5 and x86. Having the three PowerPC architectures allows GCC to tune for the specified CPU, and possibly vectorize code. The configure script needed a lot of hackery to defer detection of e.g. AltiVec to compile-time. Source code changes mainly involve ensuring that files in libavcodec/ppc and libavcodec/i386 compile with both PPC and x86 compilers. A few cases where CONFIG_DARWIN was incorrectly assumed to mean Motorola AltiVec syntax was also fixed. However, I ran into a major issue: The Darwin assembler is an old version of GNU as, and it does not support the i386 syntax used in FFmpeg. I believe the issues boil down to: - The asm macro syntax used in Darwin[1] is different from the currently used syntax. It appears to not support named arguments and use ".endmacro" instead of ".endm". Perhaps using C macros would be better? (In i386/fdct_mmx.c) - The .balign pseudo-op doesn't exist. The best substitute I could find was .align[2]. (In i386/dsputil_mmx.c) - I get a lot of errors about "Junk character 47 (/)". I don't know what that means :/ (In i386/simple_idct_mmx.c) I don't know x86 assembly, so I have no idea how to fix this. I was hoping someone else might be able to help. All other files compile fine. - Dan Christiansen P.S. Please Cc any replies directly to me, as I'm not subscribed to either of these lists. Alex Beregszaszi said on IRC that this might be of interest to MPlayer developers as well, so this mail is Cc'ed there.
