Hi 3 patches: - add timecode.h to avoid code duplication for drop frame timecode adjustment - use new lavc timecode api to set timecode in DV. Regression tests change because now default behaviour is non drop frame timecode, you can still activate it by using -flags2 +drop_frame_timecode - timecode helper function for ffmpeg to set timecode. [RFC] ratecontrol buffer size magic

Hi, I stumbed accross a weird behaviour of the CBR ratecontrol lately, basically doing: ffmpeg -i file.mpg -vcodec mpeg2video -minrate 30000k -maxrate 30000k -b 30000k -intra -flags +ildct+low_delay -dc 10 -flags2 +ivlc+non_linear_q -ps 1 -qmin 1 -qmax 12 -top 1 -vglobal 4 -acodec pcm_s16be -f mov -bufsize 1200000 -rc_init_occupancy 1200000 cbr.mov Constraints are so in order to achieve vbv delay as 3600. Now ffmpeg will only give me qp as 24. While tweaking I changed some magic in ratecontrol.c (see patch attached) and now qp have decent/good values. I dig into svn history and found out that r2601 bumped */2 to */3 to improve CBR ratecontrol. Can anyone explain in detail why that magic does improve behaviour ? Can that parameter be user setable ? Or is it really hardcoded everywhere ? Am I doing something terribly wrong ? Duplicate options

ffmpeg lists some options twice in the help: -threads -strict -dc -qdiff -rc_eq -aspect The subtitle options are also both in the Main section and the Subtitle section: -scodec -slang -newsubtitle It seems the duplication is due to some options being in ffmpeg.c and some in libavcodec/utils.c. I don't really understand the difference (so no patch from me), but my guess is they should be removed from ffmpeg.c. Roine

[PATCH] h264 luma interpolation 8x8 for altivec

Hi All, Here I'm sending a patch that adds support for luma interpolation of 8x8 blocks using Altivec. I have tested it on a G5 machine (Linux 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5, gcc 4.1.1) using some videos that I use for h264 research [1]). The resulting video files are md5 identical to the generated by the original ffmpeg. The execution time has been taken using the '-benchmark' option of ffmpeg over 5 runs of each video input: input orig. patched speed-up (%) (time in seconds) - 1088p25_blue_sky : 8,54 8,18 4,42 - 1088p25_pedestrian_area: 7,65 7,49 2,12 - 1088p25_riverbed : 10,66 10,39 2,59 - 1088p25_rush_hour : 8,23 8,05 2,21 Initially I assumed that the output array can have any misalignment (from 1 to 15), because of that is is necessary to include some code for generating two masks for permutating the final result. I made an analysis of this alignment and found that the destination result is always aligned, based on that it is possible to remove the re-alignment code at each store. I send a separate patch for this. Also It have been tested and the md5 check passed OK. Additionally I'm working on Altivec functions for doing the luma interpolation for non-square blocks: 16x8, 8x16, 8x4 and 4x8. The implementation of the functions is very easy. My question is how to integrate them with DSPContext structure. An option could be to add a position to the XXX_pixels_tab[][] structure, like this index | size 0: 16x16 1: 8x8 2: 4x4 3: 16x8 4: 8x16 5: 8x4 6: 4x8 the main problem is calling these functions. What is the best place for doing that? hl_motion? mc_dir_part? Suggestions on this issue are welcome. Regards, Mauricio

crash with H.264 MBAFF of height 676 or more

I am trying to trancecode from H.264 MBAF (encoded with x.264) to flv. It seems that MBAFF H.264 of height 676 or more crashes ffmpeg. FFmpeg said "[h264 @ 0x6da784]concealing 860 DC, 860 AC, 860 MV errors" many times and crashed with SIGABRT. ffdshow and VLC also crashes. I think this is maybe a libavcodec's bug because I asked CoreAVC users whether it crashed, and they said No. Sample File: I uploaded to /MPlayer/incoming/h264_MBAFF_height676 My environment: CPU: [PATCH] Realmedia / RTSP (RDT)

Hi, attached patch is my latest for $subj. The flags/nostatic patches are required before the main patch (rtsp-realmedia.patch), they're kind of logical, and the reindent should be done afterward. With the patch, one can receive RTSP streams from Helix/Real servers. One thing it does wrong is stream selection, if anyone could help me with that (hint, code, anything), it'd be greatly appreciated. The second thing people may have concerns about is the fact that I expose us as "realplayer" in the client-id during the OPTIONS command. I can try a naked (client-id: "ffmpeg" or so) OPTIONS and use this as a fallback if that fails if people prefer, but I don't really know what people's opinions are re: that. If there's anything else wrong, please let me know. My final intent is still to get this in the ffmpeg tree. :-). Ronald

This file uses 128000 so the first test fails. If I understand the code correctly, it seems we are missing some tables in G726Tables_pool to support this bit rate.
