[PATCH] Ignore Ogg Skeleton Stream
by j＠v2v.cc 30 Dec '07

30 Dec '07

hi, ffmpeg detechts Ogg Skeleton streams as video and uses them instead of the Theora stream. Attached patch marks Skeleton streams as CODEC_TYPE_DATA, that way the Theora stream is properly used as first video stream. j

[PATCH] url_write not defined if muxers are disabled
by mplayer＠netfarm.it 30 Dec '07

30 Dec '07

Hi, I've noticed that url_write in avio.c is referenced even if muxers are not enabled, but it's not compiled in. The patch allows to return EIO if someone calls url_fopen/fdopen in write mode while muxers are disabled Regards -- Gianluigi Tiesi <sherpya at netfarm.it> EDP Project Leader Netfarm S.r.l. - http://www.netfarm.it/ Free Software: http://oss.netfarm.it/

libossupport status
by lucabe72＠email.it 30 Dec '07

30 Dec '07

Hi all, int the last weeks, I've been silent about libossupport, but I continued to work on it. Here is a report about the current status of things. First of all, the requirements: 1) Eliminate all the OS-dependent code from libav* (this can be achieved in small steps) 2) For standard (POSIX?) systems, no dependency on libossupport should be created 3) libav* code should use standard (POSIX?) functions, and the implementation of such functions for non-standard systems should be provided by libossupport 4) It seems that most of the developeres do not want libossupport in ffmpeg, but want it as an external library. Did I understand the requirements correctly? Am I forgetting anything? Based on the requirements listed above, I developed the attached patch... It builds ok on Linux x86 (32), and passes some tests. I also checked the compilation log, and no new warnings are introduced. Obviously, the patch breaks the compilation on almost all the non-Linux platforms. On such platforms, libossupport is needed. I developed the attached prototype by copying some code from libavformat, and it allows to cross-compile mingw binaries from Linux (I suppose native mingw builds are ok too, but I cannot test - no windows machines here). The attached libossupport is just a prototype for testing, and it has a lot of limitations: 1) The build system is just a joke. It allows to cross-compile from Linux, but you will probably have to edit config.mak by hands 2) I created some empty header files, and put all the code in netinet/in.h... This probably has to be split in the different headers 3) Only mingw is currently supported (Note that as I previously said I am not interested in maintaining an external OS support library... So, not expect me to work too much on the external libossupport) How I compile: 1) cd /tmp; tar xvzf loss-3.tgz; cd libossupport; make 2) download ffmpeg from svn, and apply remove_ossupport-2.diff 3) ./configure --cross-compile --cross-prefix=i586-mingw32msvc- --enable-memalign-hack --target-os=mingw32 --extra-cflags="-I /tmp/libossupport" --extra-ldflags="-L /tmp/libossupport" --extra-libs="-lws2_32 -lossupport" (As you can see, compiling for non-Linux platforms can become a nightmare - maybe we can add a --with-libossupport switch to configure?) Anyway, the resulting binaries seem to work ok (tested with wine), and network works too (I did some streaming tests). As usual, comments and feedback are more than welcome. Thanks & Merry Christmas, Luca

[PATCH] new codec id for SSA/ASS subtitles
by eugeni.stepanov＠gmail.com 29 Dec '07

29 Dec '07

Hi, current matroska demuxer mangles SSA/ASS subtitles by stripping 8 leading fields from each line in an effort to make them look like plaintext subtitles. I believe that conversion between different formats is not a dexumer's job. With this patch, SSA/ASS subtitles are kept unchanged. To distinguish them from simple plaintext subtitles, a new codec id is added.

[PATCH] memory leaks in libavformat/matroskadec.c
by gforte＠wyplay.com 29 Dec '07

29 Dec '07

Hi, here are two patches which fix memory leaks in matroskadec.c when seeking, awaiting review. I'm not exactly sure why the two av_free(origdata) were missing in matroska_parse_block(). is there a good reason ? cheers, -- Gabriel Fort? <gforte at wyplay.com>

libavcodec DTS decoder bug - LFE channel empty
by dear＠madshi.net 29 Dec '07

29 Dec '07

Hey guys, with the current ffmpeg SVN whenever I decode a DTS 5.1 track the LFE channel seems to be empty. Decoding the same track with Nero's or Sonic's DTS decoder gives me a good LFE channel. The other 5 channels are decoded just fine by ffmpeg, though. Maybe someone with experience on the DTS decoder could have a look at this? Thanks! Regards, madshi.

how do I fix streaming media pausing while waiting for input?
by rsbultje＠gmail.com 28 Dec '07

28 Dec '07

Hi, $attached does something required for RDT. The default mode for ffplay is to pause while calling av_find_streaminfo(), and starting media playback after that. The problem is that this sets data transfer in RTSP to paused (i.e. we send a "pause" to the server), meaning that we don't actually grab any data in av_find_streaminfo(), i.e. it loops endlessly and fails. The quick solution is to not pause (see patch), but that's obviously not right. What's the right solution? - call av_rtsp_play() in av_find_stream_info() when we read data and av_rtsp_pause() when we're done? - not pause in ffplay when it's rtsp? - something else? (This is to get crap out of my RDT patch so I can submit a clean version.) Ronald

[PATCH] Sun Rasterfile decoder
by ivop＠euronet.nl 28 Dec '07

28 Dec '07

Hi, Here's a Sun Rasterfile decoder. http://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php?title=Sun_rasterfile Documentation on the format is sparse, but it can decode all files I was able to find and generate with other tools. I uploaded all sample files to: ftp://samples.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/incoming/sunrast --Ivo

cuda
by nenashev_as＠mail.ru 28 Dec '07

28 Dec '07

Hi everyone! I'm just a new member in this mailing list thats why my question wouldn't be original. Did anyone try to add CUDA acceleration for dsputil acceleration, DCT and IDCT for example? CUDA is a new Nvidia hardware platform with additional development tools. Thanks for your answers.
