[PATCH] Roundup issue #301
by christophe.gisquet＠free.fr 02 Jan '08

02 Jan '08

Hi, This addresses roundup issue #301 : https://roundup.mplayerhq.hu/roundup/ffmpeg/issue301 Summary of changes: - Use of MANGLE when loading into mmx registers some constants - Conversion to non-static for those constants and thus renaming with ff_prefix - Removal of last parameter of MSPEL_FILTER13_CORE (was constant) - Use of "+r" instead of stricter but unnecessary "+g" - Use of REG_c and direct loading of some of the above (not tested No speed regression is noticeable with the new code, but the performance vastly varies depending on the compiler. For a 720p test sequence: 2.95 ~ 4.1s 3.3.6 ~ 3.8s (3.2 in 64b) 4.2.1 ~ 3.4s (3.1 in 64b) Considering those numbers, I think I'll pass next time. (And yeah! for hard-coded limitations) Best regards, -- Christophe GISQUET

[PATCH] rmdec: remove double-nested if
by rsbultje＠gmail.com 02 Jan '08

02 Jan '08

Hi, Patch for $subj attached. It removes a double-nested if that looks kind of stupid. It does nothing functional. I had it in my tree for some reason, so it must've occurred to me at some point that it looks stupid. Ronald

[PATCH] memory leaks in libavformat/matroskadec.c
by vpenne＠wyplay.com 02 Jan '08

02 Jan '08

> Second patch fixed in a slightly different way (and there was no > mem leak here, only some old packets which were played after the > seek). It was actually a real memory leak, because at the end of this function (matroska_read_seek), num_packets was set to zero, in effect emptying the packet queue, without deallocating it though. It could easily leak dozens of megabytes after an intensive use of seeking. ---- This message contains confidential information and may contain information that is legally privileged. [PATCH] automatic letterboxing
by lists＠rashbox.org 02 Jan '08

02 Jan '08

Hi, I am converting some oddly shaped videos into a common resolution, and need to add pad bands around the image to preserve image aspect ratio. As far as I can tell, ffmpeg does not currently support calculating pad band sizes automatically. I have attached a patch adding the '-letterbox' option, which will automatically calculate the correct pad band sizes for either letterboxing or pillar boxing.

[PATCH] incorrect return type for opt_bitrate/type safety
by lists＠rashbox.org 02 Jan '08

02 Jan '08

Hello, during use I discovered that my -b and -vb options were rejected by ffmpeg. In the `options' array, the `opt_bitrate' function is declared to be a OPT_FUNC2 handler, yet it void. OPT_FUNC2 handlers are supposed to return int, and negative values for failures. This is symptomatic of lack of type safety; the compiler could have warned about passing an incorrect function pointer type if given the chance, but in every case the pointers were casted to (void*). I have attached a patch which establishes type safety in the `options' array, in addition to removing all the warnings this caused. -- Morten Hustveit

[PATCH] socklen_t definition
by daveryeo＠telus.net 01 Jan '08

01 Jan '08

With more talk about libossupport I thought it might be a good time to resurrect KO Myung-Hun's socklen_t patch. Still typedefs it to int as that is what OS/2 and Beos use. Not sure about the windows bit that KO added. Dave

Transcoding .flv to .mov for use with iphone.
by burton＠tailrank.com 01 Jan '08

01 Jan '08

Hey guys. I'm trying to setup a meta podcast about designing scalable systems. http://scalecast.wordpress.com/ A lot of videos have been uploaded to Youtube in .flv which I want to transcode to support the iphone and ipod. The problem I'm currently banging my head over is that the iphone doesn't support mp3 audio for video files. See their documentation below. Anyway. I can use ffmpeg to transcode the .flv to an mpeg4 with mp3 audio but when I transfer it to my iphone it won't play. I need to get it to store the audio in AAC format. Any hints here? The documentation isn't clear about what I need to install to get AAC support working. Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats -- Founder/CEO Tailrank.com Location: San Francisco, CA AIM/YIM: sfburtonator Skype: burtonator Work: http://spinn3r.com and http://tailrank.com Blog: http://feedblog.org Cell: 415-637-8078 Fax: 1-415-358-419 PIN: 0092
