Hi, How is the submission of the activity to Google? There are templates for projects? The mentors will indicate the project for the candidates? As the proposal is written? Marcondes Ricarte

Are you asking, "How does one submit an SoC application to Google?"? There is a big, fat link from the main GSoC page: http://code.google.com/soc/2008/
There are templates for projects?
Are you asking, "Is there a standard template to use for FFmpeg project submissions?"? If so, then no; the applications are fairly freeform. We care much more deeply about the quality of the qualification task and the effort you put into it.
The mentors will indicate the project for the candidates? As the proposal is written?
Are you asking who selects the project for a candidate, the mentor or student? If so, the answer is 'student'. You are to submit one proposal for one project. You may submit multiple applications, one for each project. -- -Mike Melanson

Quoting an earlier message from Mike Melanson to you: However, if you top-post too many more times, that will be an automatic disqualification. This group does not like top-posters. Are you trying to make this year's student selection easier? Diego

There is no mentor for the speex decoder as should be clear from the wiki. It is possible but not certain that someone will still volunteer as mentor for such mentorless projects. [...]

You can submit any application you like to google, you can also submit multiple ones. We will choose applications and students. We choose depending on many things, which i belive mike already listed. Either way your chances to be selected without having done a qualification task or prior work for ffmpeg are near zero. To be more precise, Students who finish a qualification task (code reaches _ffmpeg_ svn) will be favored over thouse who did not. Students who submit code for a qualification task but do not pass (that is their code does no reach ffmpeg svn within time) will still be favored over students who do not submit anything at all. Also we will try to consider the complexity of the task as well, some students did select quite simple qualification tasks while others ended up with harder ones (due to simple ones being already selected ...) A half done complex task definitly counts more than a half done simple task. But the decission will not be just based on qualification tasks; availability of mentor, knowledge of C, ability to use a compiler and email program as well as ability to write half comprehensible english, certainly will be considered as well as far as we can judge these from the little bit of communication on the mailinglist.
