That means dsputil.o file had size 2.1MB with debug info. For example in Commit:22180e7a5a39f8a77498fcbce54368ecc408df8f. After the rebase onto actual master the size of dsputil.o increased to 4.7MB, which seems really wierd to me. Maybe it can be a gcc bug/feature as it is connected with optimization (--disable-optimizations reduces the size again but the speed ...). Unfortunately I can't track the commit when this situation appeared I'm only sure that the commit mentioned above is OK. I'm using gcc 4.4.5 for arm-unknown-elf target on windows/mingw. $ arm-unknown-elf-gcc -v Using built-in specs. #604(avcodec:new): Multithreaded ffmpeg decode with DXVA2 hangs

18 Jan '13

#604: Multithreaded ffmpeg decode with DXVA2 hangs -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: IMarshal | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: normal Component: avcodec | Version: git- Keywords: hang, dxva, | master pthreads | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- I posted this at http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=267, but it's probably more appropriate here. First, I'd like to say how awesome ffmpeg is. We love it, love it, love it. Anyway, we're seeing a hang attempting to decode H264 video using DXVA2 (aka pixel format PIX_FMT_DXVA2_VLD). This is in the recently released Plex Media Center (http://www.plexapp.com) The only workaround we've found is to use a single thread when decoding. It would be great if you could help us diagnose the issue. We suspect an ffmpeg bug, but it's possible that we're doing something wrong as well. In our repro case, we call avcodec_thread_init with 8 threads, then avcodec_open, then obviously avcodec_decode_video. If we don't call avcodec_thread_init and we leave the context's default of 1 thread, then no hang occurs and decoding proceeds smoothly. The hang itself occurs on the second or third call to avcodec_decode_video. Unfortunately, because of the difficulty of debugging ffmpeg code on Windows, I don't have good stack traces to provide. All I can see is avcodec waiting on what appear to be pthreads condition variables. None of our related threads are hung, and avcodec_decode_video is not returning, so my guess would be a deadlock in ffmpeg. Here's a sample thread in cdb - not very useful, obviously: 24 Id: 3bc8.15e4 Suspend: 1 Teb: fff50000 Unfrozen ChildEBP RetAddr 1681f728 76eb0bdd ntdll_779a0000!NtWaitForMultipleObjects+0x15 1681f7c4 75f71a2c KERNELBASE!WaitForMultipleObjectsEx+0x100 1681f80c 75f74208 KERNEL32!WaitForMultipleObjectsExImplementation+0xe0 1681f828 6e0c5173 KERNEL32!WaitForMultipleObjects+0x18 WARNING: Stack unwind information not available. We have some customizations, but they are relatively minor and unrelated to this area. The following is our configure command line: $ cat configure-windows.sh ./configure --disable-static --disable-debug --enable-runtime-cpudetect --disable-mmx --disable-mmx2 --arch=i386 --disable-muxers --enable- muxer=spdif --enable-muxer=adts --disable-encoders --enable-encoder=ac3 --enable-encoder=aac --disable-libvorbis --disable-devices --disable- ffplay --disable-ffserver --disable-ffmpeg --enable-shared --disable- decoder=mpeg_xvmc --enable-postproc --enable-gpl --enable-protocol=http --enable-pthreads --enable-runtime-cpudetect --enable-memalign-hack --enable-dxva2 --enable-decoder=h264_dxva2 --enable-hwaccel=h264_dxva2 --extra-cflags=-Isysinc Is there any other data I can provide that might help to debug this? When transcoded with FFmpeg, the resulting file is non-interleaved, i.e. the 15 seconds of sound come first (without picture). MPlayer's mpegts demuxer indicates that the stream does start with mostly identical timestamps for audio and video (but plays the video too fast). #531(undetermined:new): failure to extract DVB-Teletext track (zero-length file)

#531: failure to extract DVB-Teletext track (zero-length file) --------------------------------------+---------------------------------- Reporter: BrianEnigma | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: normal Component: undetermined | Version: git Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | --------------------------------------+---------------------------------- So I have two sets of transport stream files, one with a DVB-Sub subtitle track and one with a DVB-Teletext track. In both instances, there's an audio track, a video track, and a data track and ffmpeg recognizes all of them correctly. What I'd like to do is extract out just the data track (i.e. strip out the audio and video tracks) for analysis and post- processing. In the DVB-Sub case, I can do something like this (with both ffmpeg 0.8.4 and the latest git) and everything works as expected: ffmpeg -i file1.ts -vn -an -scodec copy -f rawvideo dvbsub.dat When I try to do the very same thing for the DVB-Teletext track, I always end up with a zero-length file. I know there should be data in there, as I've looked at the data PID in an analyzer and can see the content of the teletext payloads. Ffmpeg sees and recognizes the stream as dvb_teletext, but it doesn't seem to want to export it. Similarly, if I attempt to extract just a program (one audio, one video, one teletext subtitle, all using the "copy" codec) from a transport stream with multiple programs, I get audio and video, but a zero-length subtitle track in the output. -- Ticket URL: <https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/531> FFmpeg <http://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

The file contains left, center and right stream, FFmpeg currently warns that the channel layout is unsupported. It is simple to set the correct channel layout (trivial patch attached), but the problem is that the file has channel order "center, left, right" (MPEG-3-0-B), so that FFmpeg maps the left channel to the right, the right channel to center and the center channel to the left channel on decoding. #730(FFmpeg:new): Generate timestamps for source (like do-timestamp=true in gstreamer)
by FFmpeg 03 Jan '13

03 Jan '13

#730: Generate timestamps for source (like do-timestamp=true in gstreamer) ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: hackeron | Type: enhancement Status: new | Priority: normal Component: FFmpeg | Version: unspecified Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Many IP cameras have MJPEG streams that vary in framerate depending network conditions, ambient light, just plain slow processors on the camera itself, etc. This can be anything from 8fps to 30fps - even if the camera is set to a fixed framerate. Right now, if you set a framerate in ffmpeg, the duration ffmpeg thinks the movie is does not match reality, sometimes by a factor of more than 3x. While ffmpeg supports variable framerate it requires timestamps which in this case do not exist. Gstreamer has an option called do-timestamp=true that would be very useful in ffmpeg. From their website: "Timestamps are set on the buffers as they arrive from the camera. These are used by the mime/multipart demultiplexer to emit timestamps on the JPEG-encoded video frame buffers. This allows the multiplexer to timestamp the frames in the resulting file." This would allow ffmpeg to set the timestamp of "now" on every single frame as it comes in and know the correct duration of the recording. This means correct duration, a/v sync and just being able to seek to specific parts of the recording. -- Ticket URL: <https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/730> FFmpeg <http://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#862(avformat:new): Corrupted subtitles exported from matroska file.

#862: Corrupted subtitles exported from matroska file. -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: | Type: defect vlada.matena | Priority: normal Status: new | Version: git- Component: avformat | master Keywords: srt | Blocked By: matroska mkv | Reproduced by developer: 0 Blocking: | Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- I am trying to extract subtitles from matroska file to the SubRip file. I think the following command should extract subtitles from source.mkv, but target.srt is created empty. {{{ ffmpeg -scodec srt -i source.mkv target.srt }}} I also tried using -scodec copy, but it only stores subtitle text in target.srt and the timecodes are missing. It looks like matroska decoder is not adding timecodes stored in matroska blocks back to subtitles. I implemented a function matroska_fix_srt_packet similar to matroska_fix_ass_packet and added it to libavformat/matroskadec.c . The changes are in attached patch. With the patch the command produces the desired output. I am sorry if I just didn't understand ffmpeg params and the changes are actually not needed. -- Ticket URL: <https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/862> FFmpeg <http://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#386(undetermined:new): Missing audio and subtitle streams in vob file

#386: Missing audio and subtitle streams in vob file --------------------------+-------------------------- Reporter: Aztek | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: normal Component: undetermined | Version: unspecified Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced: 0 Analyzed: 0 | --------------------------+-------------------------- ==Problem== I want to transcode a VOB into x264 on a headless Debian stable server. `mediainfo` reports a number of audio tracks and subtitle streams. `ffprobe` (and `ffmpeg`) reports no audio nor subtitle stream. I'd like to provide the VOB file but I can't for legal reasons. I tried to cut the file (with `dd`) to give a "small sample" but `ffprobe` behaviour seems to depend on the length of the resulting VOB file (with 10MB, all the audio streams are found but non of the subtitles streams for instance; at 500MB, just one audio stream is available). `ffplay` can successfully play the file but I am not sure I can actually choose the audio stream I want. I can provide anything you might consider usefull. Thanks for your help. ==Important note== I am sure all the VOB files I concatenated actually contained parts of the movie (all of those were needed otherwise parts of the movie just disappear). `mediainfo` reports a menu stream (and that might be the reason why `ffprobe` reports wrong streams). But as I said, every VOB files I used are needed. So, if you know any way to extract precisely menu-related stuff from the VOB, please let me know. (I'd like to avoid mplayer or avidemux: those depend on too many useless things like dbus or avahi) ==Software version== ffprobe 0.8 libavutil 51. 9. 1 libavcodec 53. 7. 0 libavformat 53. 4. 0
