Before this patch I would always get a good looking thumb, but with this patch I would for the most part get a mostly gray frame. If I generates a few more thumbnails i see that it eventually spits out the same frame that ffmpeg before this patch produced as the first thumb, and it looks OK. However it is much more blocky than what the previous ffmpeg produced. Details: libmp3lame provides a switch (-joint_stereo) to select either joint_stereo or plain stereo. The interface to lame works correctly so that the audio frames are fine, but ffmpeg doesn't use the lame library to write the mp3 header. I am trying to downmix a 5.1 audio to 2.0 (stereo) using the audio resampler filter "matrix_encoding=dplii". The resulting stereo audio presents some audio level bias towards the right speaker when there is more than one active channel on the surround stream. That is, it seems that the audio volume on the right speaker is higher than it should be. This is, of course, using a test signal where all surround channels produce the same sound at the same volume. The same point in time on the resulting DPL-II downmixed shows a "higher volume" on the right speaker. This effect is even more noticeable by 22 seconds when they change the test signal. It is interesting to note that in the initial seconds of the file, when a male's voice is announcing each channel individually, I could not notice this right speaker bias. The channel downmixing in that segment sounds correct. This effect is very noticeable on sound tracks with very active surround channels, they all seem to be stronger on the right speaker. Also note that format=yuv420p and format=yuv411p both work properly. So this is not a generic problem with the YUV to RGB color space conversion, rather this seems to be specifically related to yuv410p. Converting from yuv410p to yuv420p seems to also be broken, but differently. VLC shows green box artifacts, QuickTime and MPlayer both show jerky/slow playback. How to reproduce: (Grab source from: https://www.dropbox.com/s/thy8zxbvx1ygqru/VID_20130619_161750_449.mp4) {{{ % ffmpeg -i VID_20130619_161750_449.mp4 -vf "scale=1024:-1" VID_scaled.mp4 }}} VID_scaled.mp4 ends up with green artifacts in VLC and doesn't play appropriately in QuickTime or MPlayer.
