#6625: "Freezes" transcoding RTP g.711 stream to mp3
-------------------------------------+-------------------------------------

Hi,
I am trying to connect to a live RTP stream of g.711 audio from an
intercom and then output it as an mp3 file.
'''FFmpeg version'''
N-86996-g931c0ac95c-Reino cross-compiled for Windows 64 w/ pthreads and
debug=3 enabled
'''command:'''
ffmpeg -re -f mulaw -i rtp://10.200.1.14:32760 -sample_rate 44100
-filter:a "asetrate=9000" -acodec libmp3lame -ar 44100 live-
rtp-g711-toMP3.mp3 -report
'''output:''' “live-rtp-g711-toMP3.mp3”
'''report:''' “live-rtp-g711-toMP3-REPORT.log”
'''gdb backtrace:''' “live-rtp-g711-toMP3-BACKTRACE.txt”
With this command, the window “freezes” after printing “''[udp @
0000002c748241e0] end receive buffer size reported is 65536''”.
The command line will stay that way indefinitely until I enter ''ctrl+c''
(''q'' doesn’t work), after which it seems to say that nothing was written
to the output, and the output file produced is indeed empty/unplayable.
Unfortunately I cannot provide access to th live rtp stream, as it
requires VPN access. I saw something about using ffplay if my output isn’t
reproducable, but I’m not sure how to do that. If it’s needed could you
please give more details on how to do this?
However I can say that, using Wireshark, I have confirmed that there is
traffic coming through port 32760 — packets using the RTP protocol and
g.711U payload type, as expected (''attached screenshot “wireshark-
RTP-g711-traffic.png”''). I Analyzed and Saved the data from Wireshark as
a "synchronized forward stream audio” in the .raw format, then used the
same command with the .raw input instead of an RTP stream, and that works:
'''command:'''
ffmpeg -re -f mulaw -i wireshark-rtp-g711-syncedRAW.raw -sample_rate 44100
-filter:a "asetrate=9000" -acodec libmp3lame -ar 44100 wireshark-rtp-g711
-syncedRAW-toMP3.mp3 -report
'''input:''' “wireshark-rtp-g711-syncedRAW.raw”
'''output:''' “wireshark-rtp-g711-syncedRAW-toMP3.mp3”
'''report:''' “wireshark-rtp-g711-syncedRAW-toMP3-REPORT.log”
I don’t know why the command works with the saved audio from Wireshark but
not with a live stream. I’m very new to FFmpeg so I apologize if this is
just a user error.
I would appreciate any light that can shed on this problem!
Thanks very much,
Sara

I am trying to adjust the timestamps of a collection of mpegts files. The
timestamps of these files seem to be all offset by some arbitrary number
1.466667s - 1.485333s.
The HLS stream that I am generating contains 3 separate qualities. A
1280x720, and 852x480 version. Each of the segments for these qualities
come in individually with identical timestamps. I rewrite the timestamps
by running them through the stream segmenter and specifying
`-initial_offset`. I do this because the timestamps are not always
continuous between segments as I receive them.

#6607: ffplay has difficulty decoding 4.0 PCM
-----------------------------------+---------------------------------------
Reporter: kieranjol | Type: defect
Status: new | Priority: normal
Component: ffplay | Version: unspecified
Keywords: | Blocked By:
Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0
Analyzed by developer: 0 |
-----------------------------------+---------------------------------------
Summary of the bug:
ffplay and VLC have issues playing 4.0 PCM audio, whether in WAV, MOV or
MKV containers. When making `sine` waves with `lavfi`, ffplay produces
silence for 4.0, though 2, 5, 6 channel audio is played back OK. VLC
produces throbbing, distoreted audio but that's outside of the scope of
this issue I guess.
How to reproduce:
Generate a sine wave with ffmpeg and then play it back with ffplay.

Video freezes during playback and we get an error: Buffer queue overflow,
dropping. Removing either the overlay filter or the dynaudnorm filter
makes the issue go away.

#6292: overlay filter's shortest=1 doesn't take effect.

Setting **shortest=1** in the **overlay** filter doesn't work. If the main
input is longer, the overlay runs till the end of that video. If the
secondary input is longer, whether it's a video or a looped single image,
encoding proceeds till the EOF of the main input but FFmpeg doesn't exit.
Doing a soft exit works and the output file is valid (tested with MP4
output). However, this is not a practical option when processing videos in
bulk. Can't use output option **-shortest** as workaround if there are no
other streams being muxed (or they are shorter).
Tested with multiple MP4/MOV inputs as main video. Tested with multiple
images and couple of MP4/MOVs as secondary input.

#6566: Overlay drops frames when audio is also processed

When performing an overlay of one video over the other, ffmpeg reports
'''Buffer queue overflow''' and the overlay freezes at multiple points.
Adding fifo filters to the two video feeds doesn't help. However, omitting
the audio, resolves the issue.
