#4768(ffmpeg:new): FFmpeg preserving CFR during TS to MP4 conversion

#4768: FFmpeg preserving CFR during TS to MP4 conversion --------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: zer0z | Type: enhancement Status: new | Priority: normal Component: ffmpeg | Version: 1.0.10 Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | --------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: Problem due to technical limitation of TS format, duration are rounded and this rounding is not detected during TS to MP4 (not a bug, only a lack of feature). Instead FFmpeg should detect the CFR in TS to MP4 conversion and create a CFR stts atom. Instead of the actual stts (time table) atom which takes lot of space and which is not CFR stricly speaking. I convert MP4 to TS, which has a hard coded (spec) frequency of 90 000 Hz. ffmpeg converts it as it can, with some rounding (in my time time line: sometime 3754, sometime 3753, but the real duration should be 3753.75, and Ts accepts no decimal). Then I convert it back to MP4, and ffmpeg does not understand it is CFR, so it provides the same rounding. Resultant file ends up as VFR. How to reproduce: From ffmpeg wiki: If you have MP4 files, these could be losslessly concatenated by first transcoding them to mpeg transport streams. With h.264 video and AAC audio, the following can be used: ffmpeg -i input1.mp4 -c copy -bsf:v h264_mp4toannexb -f mpegts intermediate1.ts ffmpeg -i input2.mp4 -c copy -bsf:v h264_mp4toannexb -f mpegts intermediate2.ts ffmpeg -i "concat:intermediate1.ts|intermediate2.ts" -c copy -bsf:a aac_adtstoasc output.mp4 I convert 1.mp4, 2.mp4, 3.mp4 (all encoded at CFR) with above method to .ts. Then issue: ffmpeg -i "concat:1.ts|2.ts|3.ts" -c copy -bsf:a aac_adtstoasc merged.mp4 Due to the above issue the result from concat will be VFR: Frame rate mode : Variable Frame rate : 23.976 fps Minimum frame rate : 23.968 fps Maximum frame rate : 23.981 fps If this can be looked into and hopefully resolved to preserve the Constant frame rate I would really appreciate it. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/4768> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#9370: ffmpeg nvenc/nvdec new build dependency ? -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: hydra3333 | Type: task Status: new | Priority: normal Component: build | Version: git- system | master Keywords: nvenc nvdec | Blocked By: SDK | Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Summary of the potential issue: In regard to commit 00b579890d866f0dd2f34bcb8aceb890ab29f582 https://git.videolan.org/?p=ffmpeg.git;a=blobdiff;f=libavcodec/nvenc.c;h=81… I see this line: {{{ av_log(avctx, AV_LOG_WARNING, "Failed setting QP CB/CR offsets, SDK 11.1 or greater required at compile time.\n"); }}} I was under an impression that compiling ffmpeg with NV headers was all that was required to enable the Nvidia nvenc/nvdec encoder/decoder in ffmpeg and that no SDK was required to be installed at compile time. Up until now ffmpeg seems to have built and nvenc has worked for me without the SDK being installed at compile time - since I and others cross-compile ffmpeg under Unubtu/mingw64 for target Windows 10 x64, installing the nvidia SDK in this scenario is not an option. Can you please clarify whether indeed the Nvidia SDK 11.1 or greater is now actually required to be installed in order to build ffmpeg with nvenc/nvdec enabled ? Thank you. If so, it's probably a deal breaker for cross-compiling ffmpeg ? Thank you. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9370> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#8620(avdevice:new): Fundamental bug in DirectShow capture - wrong timestamps
by FFmpeg 24 Dec '21

24 Dec '21

#8620: Fundamental bug in DirectShow capture - wrong timestamps -------------------------------------+------------------------------------ Reporter: Davis | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: critical Component: avdevice | Version: 4.2 Keywords: dshow_pin.c | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------ Summary of the bug: File dshow_pin.c contains lines: {{{#!c if (devtype == VideoDevice) { /* PTS from video devices is unreliable. */ IReferenceClock_GetTime(clock, &curtime); } else { IMediaSample_GetTime(sample, &curtime, &dummy); }}} As we can see for video stream this code uses current reference clock as PTS for video sample, while for audio sample it uses correct stream start time as PTS. I do not know why developer thought that "PTS from video devices is unreliable" but nowadays my experience makes me sure that we should use sample stream start time as PTS for all types of streams. I patched this code, tested and it works fine this way: {{{#!c if (0 /*devtype == VideoDevice*/) { }}} You can see good and wrong timestamps using this run: {{{ % ffmpeg -v verbose -debug_ts -f dshow -pixel_format yuyv422 -video_size 1920x1080 -framerate 30 -i "video=Logitech BRIO:audio=Микрофон (Logitech BRIO)" -y d:\Transcoding\manualCapture.mp4 > d:\Transcoding\manualCapture.log 2>&1 }}} Look at "dshow passing through packet of type video" lines: {{{ dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63723140000 orig timestamp 63723136716 graph timestamp 63723140000 diff 3284 Logitech BRIO dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63723470000 orig timestamp 63723470049 graph timestamp 63723470000 diff -49 Logitech BRIO dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63723790000 orig timestamp 63723803382 graph timestamp 63723790000 diff -13382 Logitech BRIO dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63724260000 orig timestamp 63724136715 graph timestamp 63724260000 diff 123285 Logitech BRIO dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63724580000 orig timestamp 63724470048 graph timestamp 63724580000 diff 109952 Logitech BRIO dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63724900000 orig timestamp 63724803381 graph timestamp 63724900000 diff 96619 Logitech BRIO dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63725220000 orig timestamp 63725136714 graph timestamp 63725220000 diff 83286 Logitech BRIO dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63725540000 orig timestamp 63725470047 graph timestamp 63725540000 diff 69953 Logitech BRIO dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63725860000 orig timestamp 63725803380 graph timestamp 63725860000 diff 56620 Logitech BRIO dshow passing through packet of type video size 4147200 timestamp 63726180000 orig timestamp 63726136713 graph timestamp 63726180000 diff 43287 Logitech BRIO }}} Good stream times timestamps are "orig timestamp" Bad currently used are "timestamp". While diffs between "orig timestamps" are perfectly 333333 (as we have 30 fps) diffs between "timestamps" varies which is not surprising me. FFmpeg itself usually successfully synchronizes such streams but for those who uses libavdevice internally this defect adds unnecessary difficulties. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/8620> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#9271(avdevice:new): Get color information from source device
by FFmpeg 24 Dec '21

#9271: Get color information from source device -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: Diederick | Type: Niehorster | enhancement Status: new | Priority: normal Component: avdevice | Version: git- | master Keywords: dshow | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- As discussed in https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/8454, if possible the dshow filter should provide information about the color range, color space, primaries, trc and chroma location of the frames a device provides. Some DirectShow devices do provide this information. I open an issue here with a partial patch, as a starting point and for discussion, before i send it to the list. I need help with the following: 1. Check that my conversion from DXVA color information to FFmpeg's AVColorRange, AVColorPrimaries and AVColorTransferCharacteristic is correct. 2. Help to convert the DXVA color information to AVColorSpace 3. Advice on how to provide this information to FFmpeg/the user. As far as i understand, this is not normally provided by the format, but by the codec, which (I think) it outside the purview of dshow/a format. Thanks! -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9271> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker
