#7155(ffmpeg:new): Add option to stop writing at position relative to EOF

#7155: Add option to stop writing at position relative to EOF ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: clone206 | Type: enhancement Status: new | Priority: wish Component: ffmpeg | Version: 3.4 Keywords: seek | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: Feature request How to reproduce: N/A Add main option to allow stopping of writing to output at position relative to "end of file", where 0 is eof, and negative values are earlier in the file. Proposed switch: "-toeof", like "-sseof" but for stopping point instead of beginning point. Background: I have ripped SACD audio tracks with extraneous loud noises at the last few hundred milliseconds of each track, and want to chop off that duration from the end of each file as part of a batch process. I would like to do something like the following on each file: ffmpeg -i input.flac -toeof -00:00:00.9 output.flac -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/7155> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#9724: Duplicate character pairs in Closed Captions -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: Selcuk | Type: defect Ozturk | Status: new | Priority: normal Component: ffmpeg | Version: 4.4.1 Keywords: eia_608, | Blocked By: closed captions | Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: Bug in the handling of eia-608 closed captions. Captions have duplicated character pairs. The bug did not exist in ffmpeg versions 4.3.2 and earlier. How to reproduce: You will need a HDHomerun Prime and a cable service with cable card like Verizon FIOS or Comcast. {{{ % ffmpeg -i http://192.168.78.45:5004/auto/v103 -c:v libx264 -preset:v ultrafast -g 29 -crf 40 -s 128x72 -bsf:v h264_mp4toannexb -map 0:v -f mpegts -t 60 z-4.4.1.ts % ffmpeg -f lavfi -i movie=z-4.4.1.ts[out+subcc] z-4.4.1.srt }}} The resulting z-4.4.1.srt file has text like the following: ---- 5 00:00:04,571 --> 00:00:10,410 <font face="Monospace">{\an7}ABABORORTITIONON,, T THAHATT I I TETEXAXASS D DOEOESS H HAVAVEE E</font> 6 00:00:10,410 --> 00:00:11,845 <font face="Monospace">{\an7}TETEXAXASS D DOEOESS H HAVAVEE E LALAWSWS T THAHATT A ARERE P PUT</font> ---- Using the old releases available on https://johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg/ site, I have narrowed down the introduction of the bug somewhere between ffmpeg versions 4.3.2 and 4.4.1. All versions up to and including 4.3.2 are working properly and producing correct closed captions. All versions from 4.4.1 on have this bug. The problem is at the recording of the TS file and not at the extraction of SRT file. Playing the resulting TS file in VLC demonstrates the problem in closed captions. I can provide both the recorded TS files and the SRT files if needed. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9724> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#6690(avformat:new): Raw Electronic Arts ADPCM support

#6690: Raw Electronic Arts ADPCM support ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: koops | Type: enhancement Status: new | Priority: normal Component: avformat | Version: unspecified Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: How to reproduce: {{{ $ ffmpeg -i sound.XA sound.wav sound.XA: Invalid data found when processing input }}} I would like support for headerless Electronic Arts ADPCM files to be added. These files are common in some Electronic Arts games, like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Brother Bear. The format is similar to adpcm_ea_r1, but the file is always mono, there is no channels header. ADPCM history is always initialized to [0, 0]. File size is always a multiple of 15, there is no raw sample mode (0xEE). Sample rate is 22050Hz by default. Files can be encoded into this format using sx.exe: {{{ > sx -raw -eaxa_blk sample.wav -=sample.XA }} I attached a test case, a XA file and the corresponding decoded raw file. This is decoder code in C# (I release it under CC0): {{{ using System; using System.IO; using System.Text; namespace KoopsAudioDecoder { class Program { static int coeff1, coeff2, shift, adpcmHistory1 = 0, adpcmHistory2 = 0; static readonly int[] EA_XA_TABLE = new int[] { 0, 0, 240, 0, 460, -208, 392, -220, }; static void DecodeSingleFrame(BinaryReader stream, BinaryWriter outbuf) { int frameInfo = stream.ReadByte(); coeff1 = EA_XA_TABLE[((frameInfo >> 4) & 15) << 1]; coeff2 = EA_XA_TABLE[(((frameInfo >> 4) & 15) << 1) + 1]; shift = (frameInfo & 15) + 8; for (int i = 0; i < 14; i++) { int sample_byte = stream.ReadByte(); int[] nibbles = { sample_byte >> 4, sample_byte & 15 }; foreach (int nibble in nibbles) { int sample = GetSample(nibble); outbuf.Write(Clamp16(sample)); } } } private static int GetSample(int nibble) { int sample = (nibble << 28 >> shift) + (coeff1 * adpcmHistory1) + (coeff2 * adpcmHistory2) >> 8; adpcmHistory2 = adpcmHistory1; adpcmHistory1 = sample; return sample; } static private short Clamp16(int sample) { if (sample > 32767) { return 32767; } else if (sample < -32768) { return -32768; } else { return (short) sample; } } static int Main(string[] args) { if (args.Length != 1) { Console.WriteLine("This program takes only one argument, input file"); return 1; } string inputFileName = args[0], outputFileName = Path.ChangeExtension(inputFileName, "raw"); Stream inputFile = File.OpenRead(inputFileName), outputFile = File.OpenWrite(outputFileName); BinaryReader inputFileReader = new BinaryReader(inputFile); BinaryWriter outputFileWriter = new BinaryWriter(outputFile); while (inputFile.Length - inputFile.Position >= 15) { DecodeSingleFrame(inputFileReader, outputFileWriter); } if (inputFile.Length - inputFile.Position > 0) { Console.WriteLine("File has {0} spare bytes.", inputFile.Length - inputFile.Position); } return 0; } } } }}} -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/6690> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

This video contains own vps/sps/pps for every IRAP frames. The extradata from hevcc is slightly different from every IRAP frames have (in this case QP value is different) and the hevc_mp4toannexb filter prepends the different extradata to every IRAP frames, causing the broken frames. #9428(avcodec:new): avcodec: truehd parser drops data but does not adjust initial timestamps
by FFmpeg 02 Dec '24

02 Dec '24

#9428: avcodec: truehd parser drops data but does not adjust initial timestamps ---------------------------------+-------------------------------------- Reporter: jeeb | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: normal Component: avcodec | Version: git-master Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | ---------------------------------+-------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: 1. The TrueHD parser does drop data received until sync with first random access point packet is received. 2. The parser framework seems to be oblivious to this, and sticks the first received buffer's dts/pts on the received data. How to reproduce: The bug is easily reproducible with a Matroska sample that starts with non-random access point TrueHD packets, as the demuxer itself requests parsing for TrueHD and MLP. This can be reproduced by just utilizing the parsing API by itself as well with av_parser_parse2, as this is how I noticed the issue originally. {{{ % ffprobe -of json -show_packets -show_frames -i http://www.cccp- project.net/beta/test_files/mzero_truehd_sample.mkv }}} {{{ { "packets_and_frames": [ { "type": "packet", "codec_type": "audio", "stream_index": 1, "pts": 0, "pts_time": "0.000000", "dts": 0, "dts_time": "0.000000", "size": "324", "pos": "501277", "flags": "K_" }, { "type": "frame", "media_type": "audio", "stream_index": 1, "key_frame": 1, "pts": 0, "pts_time": "0.000000", "pkt_dts": 0, "pkt_dts_time": "0.000000", "best_effort_timestamp": 0, "best_effort_timestamp_time": "0.000000", "pkt_pos": "501277", "pkt_size": "324", "sample_fmt": "s32", "nb_samples": 40, "channels": 6, "channel_layout": "5.1(side)", "side_data_list": [ { "side_data_type": "AVMatrixEncoding" } ] }, { "type": "packet", "codec_type": "audio", "stream_index": 1, "pts": 93, "pts_time": "0.093000", "dts": 93, "dts_time": "0.093000", "size": "132", "pos": "559062", "flags": "__" }, { "type": "frame", "media_type": "audio", "stream_index": 1, "key_frame": 1, "pts": 93, "pts_time": "0.093000", "pkt_dts": 93, "pkt_dts_time": "0.093000", "best_effort_timestamp": 93, "best_effort_timestamp_time": "0.093000", "pkt_pos": "559062", "pkt_size": "132", "sample_fmt": "s32", "nb_samples": 40, "channels": 6, "channel_layout": "5.1(side)", "side_data_list": [ { "side_data_type": "AVMatrixEncoding" } ] } ] } }}} The first received packet (324 bytes, random access point) came from a Matroska SimpleBlock with the pts=0.092. Yet since most likely the parser framework didn't get notified that the input got dropped until then, you will get the timestamps of when the feeding started. The following buffers will get the right timestamps, as seen by the pts=0.093. I did start looking into this, but unfortunately was not able to focus on it, and decided to file this issue so that it is known by others than just me. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9428> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#9535(undetermined:new): PNG decoder fails processing more than a certain number of frames

#9535: PNG decoder fails processing more than a certain number of frames -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: panthalassa | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: normal Component: | Version: undetermined | unspecified Keywords: png | Blocked By: decoding | Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: trying to encode a video with more than a certain number of frames from a .png sequence results in corrupted output and an out-of-memory scenario How to reproduce: Sorry but due to the absurd bandwith requirements I likely won't be able to upload the offending files. This can likely be reproduced by converting a long, losslessly compressed video into a sufficient number of PNG's (my stats: 11 minute 1080p video at 60fps = ~39,000 frames, each frame 1.9mb making the uncompressed video around 80gb) I acquired these frames from rendering in Blender Present on all versions I've tested from 3.4.8 to 4.4.1. Any png-based input fails with too many files in the directory - symptoms include the encoded video having scrambled frame order after about 1000 frames, as well as the [png @ 0x??? chunk too big] error after about 14750 processed frames. Taking a generous swathe of images around the error points and processing them separately produces no errors implying that a corrupted PNG is not to blame. Putting a smaller (1-2000) number of frames in a directory and processing them separately produces a successful result longer than 1000 frames, past the previous point of onset for corruption. Unknown exactly how many frames are needed to cause the error. Any format encoding that receiving raw PNG input appears to be bugged - libx264rgb, libx265, ffv1 tested Latest tested version: clean install of N-104671-g2cddb2f7a8 on a live USB of Linux Mint 19.1 MATE following the instructions on the Compile FFMPEG page {{{ % ffmpeg -framerate 60 -f image2 -pattern_type glob -i $1'/*.png' -vcodec libx265 -pix_fmt yuv420p10le -vf scale=out_range=pc $2 % ffmpeg -framerate 60 -f image2 -pattern_type glob -i $1'/*.png' -vcodec ffv1 -coder 1 -level 3 -threads 4 -slices 4 -pix_fmt bgra $2 ffmpeg version: N-104671-g2cddb2f7a8 built on ... #9357(avformat:new): HLS live seek support

#9357: HLS live seek support -----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: SuRGeoNix | Type: enhancement Status: new | Priority: normal Component: avformat | Version: git-master Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- The current API (hls demuxer) doesn't seem to provide/expose required information to implement HLS live seek as the playlists/segments are not known (HLSContext). Even if you just re-opening the format context to accomplish this with the 'live_start_index' avdict option you don't have the information of the segments/durations. Additionally, it seems that the hls demuxer sets AVFMTCTX_UNSEEKABLE flag always. Can't see the reason why it applies it for example in this HLS live stream (https://cph-p2p- msl.akamaized.net/hls/live/2000341/test/level_3.m3u8) It has been also seen even after seeking on HLS live stream that the timestamps are not related to the previous ones (before seeking) or to the first_timestamp or ic->start_time. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9357> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#8506(avcodec:new): H.265 VA-API encoder changes video size on AMD cards
by FFmpeg 08 Nov '24

08 Nov '24

#8506: H.265 VA-API encoder changes video size on AMD cards ------------------------------------+---------------------------------- Reporter: tildearrow | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: normal Component: avcodec | Version: 4.2 Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | ------------------------------------+---------------------------------- Description: The H.265 VA-API encoder on an AMD card rounds the video size to a multiple of 16. As an example, a 1920x1080 video will be resized to 1920x1088. While the specs require the internal video size to be a multiple of 16, there is another "visible" video size which can be set arbitrarily (and hence allow for the 1920x1080 size). However, the AMD VA-API driver seems to be setting the "visible" size to the same value as the internal size. Therefore the size is wrong. Steps to Reproduce: 1. {{{ sudo env LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=radeonsi ffmpeg -vaapi_device /dev/dri/card1 -f lavfi -i color=color=black:size=1920x1080 -t 0.04 -vf 'format=nv12,hwupload' -c:v hevc_vaapi -qp 24 -y 1088.ts }}} This will generate a 1-frame video that apparently has a frame size of 1920x1080. 2. {{{ $ ffprobe -i 1088.ts }}} This will check that the video really has a frame size of 1920x1080. -Expected Result- {{{ ffprobe version n4.2.2 Copyright (c) 2007-2019 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 9.2.0 (GCC) configuration: --prefix=/usr --disable-debug --disable-static --disable- stripping --enable-fontconfig --enable-gmp --enable-gnutls --enable-gpl --enable-ladspa --enable-libaom --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libdav1d --enable-libdrm --enable-libfreetype --enable-libfribidi --enable-libgsm --enable-libiec61883 --enable-libjack --enable-libmfx --enable-libmodplug --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopencore_amrnb --enable-libopencore_amrwb --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable- libpulse --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libssh --enable- libtheora --enable-libv4l2 --enable-libvidstab --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libwebp --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --enable-libxcb --enable-libxml2 --enable-libxvid --enable-nvdec --enable- nvenc --enable-omx --enable-shared --enable-version3 libavutil 56. 31.100 / 56. 31.100 libavcodec 58. 54.100 / 58. 54.100 libavformat 58. 29.100 / 58. 29.100 libavdevice 58. 8.100 / 58. 8.100 libavfilter 7. 57.100 / 7. 57.100 libswscale 5. 5.100 / 5. 5.100 libswresample 3. 5.100 / 3. 5.100 libpostproc 55. 5.100 / 55. 5.100 [mpegts @ 0x55aed1cd4c00] Format mpegts detected only with low score of 2, misdetection possible!
