#9905: libavutil.pc pkgconfig file includes -lX11 on macOS -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: Rafael | Type: defect Kitover | Status: new | Priority: normal Component: build | Version: system | Keywords: build pkg- | Blocked By: config pkconfig pkgconf | Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Building ffmpeg 5.1.1 results in a PREFIX/lib/pkgconfig/libavutil.pc file that contains -lX11. macOS users are very unlikely to use X11 and as far as I know, ffmpeg for macOS does not use it either. This results in builds that use pkgconf/pkg-config trying to link libX11 and failing. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9905> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#9297(undetermined:new): Decoded flac file ends up sounding distorted

#9297: Decoded flac file ends up sounding distorted -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: Mattias | Type: defect Wadman | Status: new | Priority: normal Component: | Version: git- undetermined | master Keywords: flac | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: flac_decode_bug.flac is a flac file with the first flac frame extracted from a longer file that I unfortunately can't share. Metadata suggest it was encoded using "reference libFLAC 1.2.1 20070917". Some debugging findings: Most diffing samples are reference decoded 0xffff vs ffmpeg 0x7fff Some residual samples are quite large 65535 and -65535. If I change "int need32 = s->flac_stream_info.bps > 16" to "int need32 = s->flac_stream_info.bps >= 16" in flac_set_bps it seems to decode fine. How to reproduce: {{{ $ ls -l flac_decode_bug.flac -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12329 Jun 21 10:19 flac_decode_bug.flac $ flac -t flac_decode_bug.flac flac 1.3.3 Copyright (C) 2000-2009 Josh Coalson, 2011-2016 Xiph.Org Foundation flac comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. #9270(ffplay:new): 8-Bit FLAC Playback Skips Silent Portions

#9270: 8-Bit FLAC Playback Skips Silent Portions -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: nikku4211 | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: normal Component: ffplay | Version: git- Keywords: FLAC 8-bit | master ffplay | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: When using FFPlay to play an 8-bit .FLAC, its silent portions are often skipped over during playback. I use programs like MPC-HC that use FFMPEG as a basis for audio and video playback. I have consistently noticed that these programs tend to play 8-bit .FLACs incorrectly, skipping over silent portions, which can mess up timing for music, audio skits, tests, etc. How to reproduce: {{{ % ffplay -i mptrendertest.flac ffmpeg version 2021-05-26-git-7a879cce37 built on 2021-05-26 }}} -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9270> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#9904(undetermined:new): Differences in trimming mp 4 and mkv

Generating sources .mkv and .mp4 sources which contain frame counter (30fps, keyint=300): {{{ ffmpeg -filter_complex "smptehdbars=size=400x200:rate=30,drawtext=fontfile=c\\:/Windows/Fonts/arial.ttf:timecode=00\\:00\\:00.00:rate=30:fontsize=72:fontcolor=white:x=(w-tw)/2:y=10*h/100:box=1:boxcolor=0x00000000@1;sine=frequency=440:sample_rate=48000:beep_factor=2" -t 60 -c:v libx264 -x264-params keyint=300 -c:a aac -y source.mp4 ffmpeg -filter_complex "smptehdbars=size=400x200:rate=30,drawtext=fontfile=c\\:/Windows/Fonts/arial.ttf:timecode=00\\:00\\:00.00:rate=30:fontsize=72:fontcolor=white:x=(w-tw)/2:y=10*h/100:box=1:boxcolor=0x00000000@1;sine=frequency=440:sample_rate=48000:beep_factor=2" -t 60 -c:v libx264 -x264-params keyint=300 -c:a aac -y source.mkv }}} Fast cutting at 15s using -ss before -i (keyframes on 10s, 20s etc.): {{{ ffmpeg -ss 15 -i source.mp4 -t 10 -c:0 copy -y trim.mp4 ffmpeg -ss 15 -i source.mkv -t 10 -c:0 copy -y trim.mkv }}} Notice, both trim.mp4 and trim.mkv renders 10s in video on the first frame as expected. (sadly mp4 renders few following frames broken) Finally, using these intermediates: {{{ ffmpeg -f lavfi -i nullsrc=400x200:20:4 -filter_complex movie=trim.mp4[v];[0][v]overlay -y trim-out.mp4 ffmpeg -f lavfi -i nullsrc=400x200:20:4 -filter_complex movie=trim.mkv[v];[0][v]overlay -y trim-out.mkv }}} trim-out.m4 renders, surprisingly 15s in counter in the first frame, while trim-out.mkv renders 10s in video in its first frame. I am not sure which behavior is expected, but wondering if this difference can/should be fixed? -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9904> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#9896(avfilter:new): astats: add support for gated measurement

#9896: astats: add support for gated measurement ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: hsn | Type: enhancement Status: new | Priority: normal Component: avfilter | Version: 4.4.1 Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- == Add support for gated measurement Measurement would be more useful for anything other then music (such as dialogs in movies) when gated measurement will be added. I don't think something like gated measurement defined in EBU – TECH 3342 will fit this filter. Simple gate would be enough. Measure only if signal exceeds predefined fixed level. In this kind of metering gated silence will not be responsible for lowering integrated RMS loudness. So I think two settings should be added 1. //gate level// in DB - when volume is bellow this level start closing gate. Closing gate will not change output signal. Input will be still measured and stats updated. 1. //gate close time// in sec - after gate is fully closed, stop using input data for volume computations until gate opens again. 1. I am not sure if there is need for //gate open time// - pro VST3 measurement plugins are implementing open gate time defaulting to 4 ms. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9896> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

"animating" sigmaV via `sendcmd=c='0 [expr] gblur sigmaV 100-N` Current workaround is to apply some low value `sigmaV=0.001`. Slightly different issue appears when using `sigma=0`, which is causing vertical blur being ignored: {{{ ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -vf "gblur=sigma=0:sigmaV=10" -y out.mp4 }}} Workaround is to use `sigma=0.001:sigmaV=10` -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9845> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

Screenshot: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/wgszvysgpcuyx68/Screen%20Shot%202021-08… You can also check this by running this a few times: `curl -o /dev/null -s -w "%{http_code}\n" https://trac.ffmpeg.org/` Seems like the server needs a capacity upgrade? Or database rebuild? Alternatively, I imagine the majority of traffic is to the ffmpeg wiki documentation pages from logged out users, meaning they're just accessing static content that's identical between viewers. Some more aggressive caching might relieve the load from these views. It would require setting the right caching headers, but something like Cloudflare could even be used to cache that static content for logged out user and relieve the load from the trac server. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9359> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker
