#10140(undetermined:new): swscale crash in Android starting from API31
by FFmpeg 16 Dec '24

16 Dec '24

#10140: swscale crash in Android starting from API31 -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: fabienst | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: normal Component: | Version: undetermined | unspecified Keywords: swscale | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- I have a crash in my call to sw_scale since Android API 31. I doesn't crash for all inputs, but for now only on the same given picture. It works fine with API 30. I'm calling sw_scale from a native function through JNI which is calling from java. The input picture is a "Bitmap" object. The problem still exists in the present snapshot of ffmpeg (2023-01-15). BTW, this LDFLAGS is missing to build for Android: {{{-lnativewindow}}} If I run the same command from ffmpeg but with directly the file as input, I don't have a crash, but the input is then a jpeg, while programatically it's a bitmap object. {{{ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./ffmpeg -i /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/test_pics/invalid/image01088.jpg -vf scale=160x45 -sws_flags print_info -sws_flags lanczos -loglevel trace a.jpg }}} I enabled logging in my program as much as I could. You will find attached the log for the run on a device running android 11 (=API30) and the log for the run on a device with Android 12 (API31). These were made within the Android emulator. Crash is reported as: {{{ A/libc: Fatal signal 11 (SIGSEGV), code 2 (SEGV_ACCERR), fault addr 0x7e936e915000 in tid 9755 (ServiceStartArg), pid 9722 (adder.app.debug) }}} Crash is at this line inside swscale() function: {{{ desc[i].process(c, &desc[i], firstCPosY, lastCPosY - firstCPosY + 1); }}} I would like to provide the input picture but I don't know how to make a file out of this bitmap object. #7155: Add option to stop writing at position relative to EOF ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: clone206 | Type: enhancement Status: new | Priority: wish Component: ffmpeg | Version: 3.4 Keywords: seek | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | ----------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: Feature request How to reproduce: N/A Add main option to allow stopping of writing to output at position relative to "end of file", where 0 is eof, and negative values are earlier in the file. Proposed switch: "-toeof", like "-sseof" but for stopping point instead of beginning point. Background: I have ripped SACD audio tracks with extraneous loud noises at the last few hundred milliseconds of each track, and want to chop off that duration from the end of each file as part of a batch process. I would like to do something like the following on each file: ffmpeg -i input.flac -toeof -00:00:00.9 output.flac -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/7155> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

#9724: Duplicate character pairs in Closed Captions -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: Selcuk | Type: defect Ozturk | Status: new | Priority: normal Component: ffmpeg | Version: 4.4.1 Keywords: eia_608, | Blocked By: closed captions | Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: Bug in the handling of eia-608 closed captions. Captions have duplicated character pairs. The bug did not exist in ffmpeg versions 4.3.2 and earlier. How to reproduce: You will need a HDHomerun Prime and a cable service with cable card like Verizon FIOS or Comcast. {{{ % ffmpeg -i http://192.168.78.45:5004/auto/v103 -c:v libx264 -preset:v ultrafast -g 29 -crf 40 -s 128x72 -bsf:v h264_mp4toannexb -map 0:v -f mpegts -t 60 z-4.4.1.ts % ffmpeg -f lavfi -i movie=z-4.4.1.ts[out+subcc] z-4.4.1.srt }}} The resulting z-4.4.1.srt file has text like the following: ---- 5 00:00:04,571 --> 00:00:10,410 <font face="Monospace">{\an7}ABABORORTITIONON,, T THAHATT I I TETEXAXASS D DOEOESS H HAVAVEE E</font> 6 00:00:10,410 --> 00:00:11,845 <font face="Monospace">{\an7}TETEXAXASS D DOEOESS H HAVAVEE E LALAWSWS T THAHATT A ARERE P PUT</font> ---- Using the old releases available on https://johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg/ site, I have narrowed down the introduction of the bug somewhere between ffmpeg versions 4.3.2 and 4.4.1. All versions up to and including 4.3.2 are working properly and producing correct closed captions. All versions from 4.4.1 on have this bug. The problem is at the recording of the TS file and not at the extraction of SRT file. Playing the resulting TS file in VLC demonstrates the problem in closed captions. I can provide both the recorded TS files and the SRT files if needed. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9724> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker

These files are common in some Electronic Arts games, like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Brother Bear. The format is similar to adpcm_ea_r1, but the file is always mono, there is no channels header. ADPCM history is always initialized to [0, 0]. File size is always a multiple of 15, there is no raw sample mode (0xEE). Sample rate is 22050Hz by default. #9428(avcodec:new): avcodec: truehd parser drops data but does not adjust initial timestamps

#9428: avcodec: truehd parser drops data but does not adjust initial timestamps ---------------------------------+-------------------------------------- Reporter: jeeb | Type: defect Status: new | Priority: normal Component: avcodec | Version: git-master Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | ---------------------------------+-------------------------------------- Summary of the bug: 1. The TrueHD parser does drop data received until sync with first random access point packet is received. 2. The parser framework seems to be oblivious to this, and sticks the first received buffer's dts/pts on the received data. How to reproduce: The bug is easily reproducible with a Matroska sample that starts with non-random access point TrueHD packets, as the demuxer itself requests parsing for TrueHD and MLP. This can be reproduced by just utilizing the parsing API by itself as well with av_parser_parse2, as this is how I noticed the issue originally. {{{ % ffprobe -of json -show_packets -show_frames -i http://www.cccp- project.net/beta/test_files/mzero_truehd_sample.mkv }}} {{{ { "packets_and_frames": [ { "type": "packet", "codec_type": "audio", "stream_index": 1, "pts": 0, "pts_time": "0.000000", "dts": 0, "dts_time": "0.000000", "size": "324", "pos": "501277", "flags": "K_" }, { "type": "frame", "media_type": "audio", "stream_index": 1, "key_frame": 1, "pts": 0, "pts_time": "0.000000", "pkt_dts": 0, "pkt_dts_time": "0.000000", "best_effort_timestamp": 0, "best_effort_timestamp_time": "0.000000", "pkt_pos": "501277", "pkt_size": "324", "sample_fmt": "s32", "nb_samples": 40, "channels": 6, "channel_layout": "5.1(side)", "side_data_list": [ { "side_data_type": "AVMatrixEncoding" } ] }, { "type": "packet", "codec_type": "audio", "stream_index": 1, "pts": 93, "pts_time": "0.093000", "dts": 93, "dts_time": "0.093000", "size": "132", "pos": "559062", "flags": "__" }, { "type": "frame", "media_type": "audio", "stream_index": 1, "key_frame": 1, "pts": 93, "pts_time": "0.093000", "pkt_dts": 93, "pkt_dts_time": "0.093000", "best_effort_timestamp": 93, "best_effort_timestamp_time": "0.093000", "pkt_pos": "559062", "pkt_size": "132", "sample_fmt": "s32", "nb_samples": 40, "channels": 6, "channel_layout": "5.1(side)", "side_data_list": [ { "side_data_type": "AVMatrixEncoding" } ] } ] } }}} The first received packet (324 bytes, random access point) came from a Matroska SimpleBlock with the pts=0.092. Yet since most likely the parser framework didn't get notified that the input got dropped until then, you will get the timestamps of when the feeding started. The following buffers will get the right timestamps, as seen by the pts=0.093. I did start looking into this, but unfortunately was not able to focus on it, and decided to file this issue so that it is known by others than just me. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9428> FFmpeg <https://ffmpeg.org> FFmpeg issue tracker
