If the pipe is opened for say 10 seconds, it's expected that the output's duration will be ~10 seconds. Instead it seems to use timing info from the input stream. I didn't test with other types of piped inputs The issue was introduced in FFmpeg 6.1 and repros on the master branch. Running the command below using FFmpeg 6.1 memory usage is about 500MB – which is expected. Running the command below using FFmpeg 7.0/7.1 memory usage is about 3GB – which is not expected. If I remove the “-ss” argument when running on FFmepg 7.0 or 7.1 the memory footprint is the same as 6.1. I can reproduce this on Linux(Ubuntu) and Apple M2. I can reproduce the memory increase using .mxf, mov and .mp4 as an input file. I wanted to create a small 480x270 file at low bitrate and the render stops after a few minutes. The last line the console says is "Assertion s->buf_ptr < s->buf_end failed at src/libavcodec/put_bits.h:150". How to reproduce: 1. Used a 1920x1080p, 60fps, h.264 10gb file. 2. Dropped it in Shutter Encoder, set to DNxHR > LB ("Low Bitrate" doesn't state the number of the bitrate itself). Change scale to 480x270p 3. Render 4. In booth player as title is showing only the mount point (in this case mystream) from icecast: {{{ icecast://source:mypass@x.x.x.x:8000/mystream }}} and not the StreamTitle from input file. Why and how can I just pass it from input to output? I don't think that problem is Icecast, because I try to stream with SAM Broadcaster and in Winamp I see updated StreamTitle in real time.
