I faced the problem of broken hardware video decoding on Android TV boxes with CPU Amlogic s905w2 and GPU Mali-G31 using MediaCodec. This problem occurs when using any player based on ffmpeg. I tested it with libmpv(https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv) and libmdk(https://github.com/wang-bin/mdk-sdk). I also tested with plugins for Flutter based on these video players (since I am a developer on the Flet(Flutter) framework). In some cases I get video with lags and in some strange green frames. I can give you a video sample with which you can reproduce the error. I also talked to the developers of the MPV player and they confirmed that this is a bug on the part of ffmpeg (https://github.com/mpv-android/mpv-android/issues/1088) I can also assume that this is really the case because I see exactly the same error in the logs and the same video output when using MDK. You can also see additional information here (https://github.com/media-kit /media-kit/issues/614), including an example of a green frame of the video output. I can't reproduce this error by calling ffmpeg from the command line because it happens on an Android TV box. The simplest thing I can offer from myself to reproduce this error is to build a Flutter application using any of the players (for example MDK, i.e. the fvp library (https://pub.dev/packages/fvp)) For this you can simply use the example code (https://pub.dev/packages/video_player#example) and substitute my video sample there. Please pay attention to this problem. I have not been able to figure this out for a year and now I have found out that this is a problem with ffmpeg. Those files are decoded fine by vMix itself. They can also be decoded in other software using a DirectShow filter graph. (Both on a machine where vMix and its codec are installed) A similar file, but recorded in 1080p25 is decoded correctly by FFmpeg - that's why I'm assuming it has something to do with interlacing. Notably though, a 0.15 sec video and **5** sec audio will give the correct output (0.15 sec file). I first encountered this with anullsrc for the audio source, but I reproduced it with regular wav files just to be certain that it wasn't something about anullsrc in particular. Don't mind the fact that I'm recompressing the video for nothing in this example; in the original context I need to be recompressing the video for unrelated reasons (and, notably, the bug *doesn't* occur when using -c:v copy.) It might be hard to even see the video files in VLC due to their shortness; MPV and Firefox can both loop them fine. FFMPEG in -listen mode currently fails to accept video streams from these cameras, it disconnects. This would be a workaround fix. When videocodecid is missing, one simple workaround is to check for width metadata which the camera does send and proceed as if the videocodecid was sent, assuming h264. This was done with this library, line 35 reader.go: https://github.com/bluenviron/mediamtx/pull/2298/commits/1d5994e75f3668e154… Perhaps a way for ffmpeg to take parameters and run in a non-strict mode, taking default values hints for codec from the command line would be best general solution. No ideal solution here, in the end it means millions of cameras out there (that will not be updated) are unusable with ffmpeg. In the 1920x1080 files, it containes the same profile and level indication but in the "lowres" file, the behaviour is even different. It adds an sps/pps with different profile and level which causes most players to not play the file. I just wanted to clear, if this is a bug or intended and maybe to prevent this by using a cmdline switch while remuxing.
