Hey, I need to join multiple MP3s, add JPG album covers as video stream at 2-3 fps - the all this to MP4 (I was thinking aac audio @32kbps, and mpeg4 video @15kbps) perfect for dial-up users. I've got: ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4743, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard configuration: --enable-mp3lame --enable-faac --enable-faad --enable-amr_nb --enable-amr_wb --disable-ffserver --disable-ffplay --enable-small --enable-memalign-hack --enable-gpl --enable-xvid --enable-dts --enable-a52 --enable-vhook --enable-pthread ffmpeg -i gx07.wav -i gx25.wav -i gx33.wav -i gx36.wav -acodec aac -ab 32 -ac 1 -ar 32000 -f gif -i 1.gif -i 2.gif -i acdc.gif -vcodec mpeg4 -s 320x240 -r 0.002 -b 15 -f mp4 1.mp4 This places 1st wav as soundrack, bypassing all the rest, and 1st image as video for about 8 min, (audio only lasts for 2 min). So I figure it uses gif and 1fps converting it to .002 = 500 fps. How can I force video to be the legth of audio file (async doens't seem to crop file to audio length)? How can I cycle diff picture in the video stream? Also can I add closed captioning text to video stream? Please advise. thanks.

Compressing to WMV 9

Then you can use a process with 2 pipes (decoding with QT and encoding with ffmpeg): movtoy4m -w 320 - h 240 -F 25:1 -o yuv input.wmv | ffmpeg -f yuv4mpegpipe -i - output.flv bye Herv?

too slow videos
by hu.hai.ham＠free.fr 21 Dec '05

Hi I want to convert wmv files to mpg format in order to be able to watch them with my very old Pentium 166 / Win98. Here is the command line I use (on a "recent" Celeron 800Mhz ;) ) : ffmpeg -i in.wmv -b 700 -s 320x240 -r 30 out.mpg My problem is that contrary to native mpg files (resolution 320x240, 1150kb/s, 29.97fps) that my old computer can play fullscreen with no problem, the mpg files ffmpeg give me are much too slow : the "Statistics" panel of windows player shows me the framerate is only 14 fps (whereas it is 27-28 fps for native mpg files). I don't understand what makes these files so slow... Is there a parameter I should add to my command line ? Nicoco

Noise Reduction Options
by pfc＠terrapin.com 21 Dec '05

21 Dec '05

We are converting from AVIs that contain raw DV video (NTSC/720x480) and PCM audio. The video streams have a fair amount of noise and artifacts in them. When we use 'ffmpeg' with some standard setting like: ffmpeg -i 1.avi -vcodec mpeg2video -b 8000 -acodec mp2 -ab 192 1.mpg we're getting little or no compression and the noise is (obviously) still present. We're looking for some example command lines that we can try and test to remove the noise and improve the compression. Regards, Paul

ffmpeg on AT91 (at91rm9200)
by gwen＠hooligan0.net 21 Dec '05

21 Dec '05

Hi, I'm trying to use ffmpeg on a board with an AT91RM9200 processor but i've some problems. The CPU speed is 180MHz. The cross-compiler works fine (with --cpu=armv4l), ffplay and my own application seems to work. But ... i've a big performance problem : when i'm tying to play mp3 file (from a ramdisk) the cpu load is 99% and the uncompressed datas are available very slow and can't be played directly :( I've made some tests with differents versions of gcc (2.95.3 ; 3.2 ; 3.4) with differents glibc (2.2 & 2.3) and the result is always the same. I've also test with libmad and this works fine (50% of CPU and datas send direcly to sound card are good). I need ffmpeg because the target is to play WMA sound. Is anyone have some informations if ffmpeg can work better on ARM9 processor ? (maybe some bench informations ?) Thanks a lot, G. Saint-Genest

I've been told to use: ffmpeg -i original.mov -vcodec copy -ac 1 -ar 8000 -acodec pcm_mulaw out.avi And now it works! But, eventhat, I'd like to know what was the problem and how to solve it! :o Thanx

Hi! I am trying to transcode RealVideo 9 to some friendlier format such as mpeg. I have latest ffmpeg cvs version on Mac. The RealVideo 9 media was obtained using mplayer -dumpstream command. Could not find video grab device
by othellogrenoble＠free.fr 20 Dec '05

Hello, I have been having this problem with numerous builds of ffmpeg 0.4.9pre, including the CVS build from 181205, whereas ffmpeg 0.4.8 works fine. Any help would be appreciated. The command issued was : ./ffmpeg ~/test.mpeg The console output was : ffmpeg vffmpeg version CVS, build 3342336, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard configuration: --enable-memalign-hack built on Dec 19 2005 07:21:19, gcc: 4.0.0 (Mandrakelinux 10.2 4.0.0-0.2mdk) Could not find video grab device Running gdb only shows that the Program exited with code 01. Attached are dmesg outputs and lspci -v outputs, the outputs were the same at the boot time and after the attempt to run ffmpeg cvs version. However, when I run ffmpeg 0.4.8 (the one that works), I get these messages in dmesg (lspci -v output doesn't change). pwc set_video_mode(160x120 @ 10, palette 15). pwc decode_size = 1. pwc Using alternate setting 1. pwc set_video_mode(160x128 @ 10, palette 15). pwc decode_size = 1. pwc Using alternate setting 1. pwc Closing video device: 50 frames received, dumped 0 frames, 0 frames with errors.

Bind to Address Problem with ffserver
by daniel.guerrero＠gmail.com 20 Dec '05

20 Dec '05

Dear col.legues, First of all, my name is Daniel Guerrero, from Sitges, Barcelona, Spain and it's the first time i write on this mailing list. Regards to everyone. Then i want to explain that i am behind an HTTP proxy, and i am not CVS capable. My FFmpeg/FFserver is downloaded directly with YUM (apt-get of Fedora Core 4), when i execute ffmpeg the version displayed is CVS 3277056. Before i expose my problem, i want to explain the scope of my ffmpeg/ffserver project. I am building a streaming server, using ffserver, and i want to separate the Internet and the LAN traffic, to right manage the number of users and bandwith. It is like this because i have a certain number of clients that remains the client number, whithout influencing in the available bandwith to the internet (that determine the outer-lan traffic). My solution is to execute two "ffserver"s in the same machine, each one binded on a different ip. I tried two ways: 1.- Using 2 Ethernet adapters, each one with its own IP (eth0, eth1) 2.- Using IP Aliasing (eth0, eth0:1) And the problem is: Doing the 2 methods the end is the same: When i start the second FFserver (logicaly whith 2 different ffserver.conf files, ffserver0.conf.tmp and ffserver1.conf.tmp), the following message appears: Bind(5454 port): Address already in use Could not start Server I saw that the rtsp port used in ffserver (5454) is not configurable, this is the reason of splitting the traffic in 2 different ip's. Can anyone tell me why this happens? is this a bug in the IP binding code implementation? Is there a solution, or an alternative? I wrote this lines on each config file: ffserver0.conf.tmp ================== BindAddress xxx.xxx.xxx.127 Port 8090 ffserver1.conf.tmp ================== BindAddress xxx.xxx.xxx.161 Port 8091 #in spite of all ;) Thanks in advance, Daniel Guerrero Departament d'Inform?tica i Noves Tecnologies Ajuntament de Gava dguerrero at aj-gava dot net
