Selecting channels
by phil＠pricom.com.au 27 Apr '05

27 Apr '05

People, The docs say to use xawtv to select device and channel etc before recording but although xawtv works fine in isolation, when I use ffmpeg to record, I just get static. Australian ABC (Ch 2) comes up on xawtv by default. You can't run ffmpeg at the same time as xawtv because it says the device is busy. What else do I need to do? Vorbis in AVI files
by dario＠sinistro.net 26 Apr '05

26 Apr '05

Does anyone succeed in playing back vorbis inside AVI files? I've used ffmpeg (latest CVS 04/19/2005) to encode a vorbis encoded content into an AVI file. I've installed the vorbis directshow codecs from Xiph. (BTW: It seems that is registers several WAVETAGs, can anyone be kind to explain me what the correct one is?) Anyway, when I try to playback in media player (I've tried encoding using all audio tags the oggvorbis directshow decoders register), there is NO sound. Is it anything related to ffmpeg? [Ffmpeg-user-old] RealTime encoding
by abueler＠gmail.com 26 Apr '05

26 Apr '05

Hi, I capture a live video to WMA format using DirectX. (Unfortunately I can't use v4L). At the same time I need to transcode this video to a different format using ffmpeg. It works well, beside the fact, that FFMPEG is faster then realtime :) So that means, that if I begin the transcoding with FFMPEG 1minute after the actual live video start, FFMPEG catches up with the live recoding very soon and reaches the end of the WMA file at that time and quit. Can I do anything to set the speed of FFMPEG to real time? I tried `-re' (read input at native frame rate.) but this didn't changed anything. Thanks. Error running ffmpeg
by jfnp090274＠yahoo.es 25 Apr '05

25 Apr '05

Hi, I'm a newbie to ffmpeg. I've successfully built ffmpeg on Windows 2000 using MinGw and MSYS, but when I try to run ffmpeg.exe, I always get this error: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application." I older posts, I've seen that some people says that maybe this is due to a missing dll (libgcc.dll). Is this correct? Where could I get that library? Best regards,

Compiling ffmpeg for windows and VC++
by c4＠eml.e4ward.com 25 Apr '05

25 Apr '05

Hi, I am trying to use the libavcodec for my application and compiled ffmpeg on windows using the following procedure, using MSYS and MINGW, ./configure --enable-shared make make install Now I am using the dll, and header files in my application (written and compiled in VC++ .net). The app compiles fine, but the linker gives me some unresolved symbols. When I link against the generated .lib files in libavformat and libavcodec directories, I get more unresolved external symbols. Can someone tell me the right way to generate the .lib files for VC++. Thanks, - Sid
