Hi gurus I need to make FinalCut Pro compatible videos from MPEG2 video format. I have managed to produce two different format but those are not full compatible by FinalCut. 1. format is separate DV -videofile + AIFF soundfile This working perfekt, but I need to bring separately bouth files to time line. ( - ffmpeg -i test.mpg -an -hq -b 15000 -vcodec dvvideo TEST.dv - ffmpeg -i test.mpg -vn TEST.wav - sox TEST.wav TEST.aiff 2. Format is DV file, but there PCM audio file need's to be renderet before use in time line. (ffmpeg -i /test.mpg -vcodec dvvideo -b 25000 -acodec pcm_s16le -vol 256 /tmp/TEST.dv Thanks for any help -Jussi

Recording RTP stream to HDD
by spoormosai＠kriocoucke.mailexpire.com 06 Sep '05

Hi, I'm working on a project to read from a RTP stream which has MPEG-TS in it over multicast. The video should be recorded to my HDD. I am able to see the stream in mplayer. - Does mplayer use ffmpeg, live.com or own functions to read the RTP stream? - I'm using the following command to start ffmpeg: #ffmpeg -i rtp://224.216.13.206:7070 -f mpegts -vcodec mpeg2video -o dvd /tmp/test.vob Should this be ok for what I'm trying to achieve? If I use it this way ffmpeg doesn't do anything and looks to be "stuck". It does not even create an empty output file. It also does not matter if I remove "-f mpegts -vcodec mpeg2video" from the command. I have tried the "normal" executable and the ffmpeg_g (freshly build from CVS), all the same output: # ./ffmpeg -i rtp://224.216.13.206:7070 -f mpegts -vcodec mpeg2video ffmpeg version CVS, build 3211266, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard configuration: built on Sep 5 2005 15:45:29, gcc: 3.4.2 20041017 (Red Hat 3.4.2-6.fc3) Thanks, Rick Koning

v4l grabbing: standalone ffmpeg works, but streaming through ffserver fails

Hello everybody, I use the latest ffmpeg from Debian/unstable: ffmpeg version CVS, build 3211265, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard configuration: --build i486-linux-gnu --enable-gpl --enable-pp --enable-zlib --enable-vorbis --enable-libogg --enable-theora --enable-a52 --enable-dts --enable-dc1394 --enable-libgsm --disable-debug --prefix=/usr built on Aug 22 2005 20:00:15, gcc: 4.0.2 20050816 (prerelease) (Debian 4.0.1-5) which is the CVS version from 20050811, on Linux 2.6.13. By USB 1.0, a Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 is connected and visible through /dev/video0 providing both a v4l and v4l2 API (using the opensource pwc driver, version 10.0.7a). The following command line works and produces a proper MPEG4 file with MP2 audio (MP3 encoding is not available in the Debian version, I am unsure why, but thats fine with me): ffmpeg -s 640x480 -r 15 -vcodec mpeg4 -vtag DIVX /tmp/out.avi /tmp $ tcprobe -i out.avi [tcprobe] RIFF data, AVI video [avilib] V: 15.000 fps, codec=DIVX, frames=172, width=640, height=480 [avilib] A: 44100 Hz, format=0x50, bits=0, channels=1, bitrate=64 kbps, [avilib] 389 chunks, 81293 bytes, VBR [tcprobe] summary for out.avi, (*) = not default, 0 = not detected import frame size: -g 640x480 [720x576] (*) frame rate: -f 15.000 [25.000] frc=13 (*) audio track: -a 0 [0] -e 44100,0,1 [48000,16,2] -n 0x50 [0x2000] (*) bitrate=64 kbps length: 172 frames, frame_time=66 msec, duration=0:00:11.466 Now I want to stream from the video0 device, using the following ffserver.conf (removed all comments for brevity): Port 8090 BindAddress 0.0.0.0 MaxClients 1000 MaxBandwidth 1500 CustomLog - NoDaemon <Feed saibi.ffm> File /tmp/saibi.ffm FileMaxSize 200K ACL allow 127.0.0.1 </Feed> <Stream saibi.avi> Feed saibi.ffm Format avi AudioBitRate 24 AudioChannels 1 AudioSampleRate 22050 VideoBitRate 128 VideoFrameRate 15 VideoSize 320x240 VideoGopSize 60 </Stream> <Stream stat.html> Format status ACL allow localhost ACL allow 192.168.0.0 192.168.255.255 </Stream> <Redirect index.html> URL http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/ </Redirect> I start ffserver, and the total log it dumps to stdout is this: /tmp$ ffserver ffserver started. 127.0.0.1 - - [Sun Sep 4 10:41:13 2005] "GET /saibi.ffm HTTP/1.0" 200 4165 127.0.0.1 - - [Sun Sep 4 10:41:13 2005] "GET /saibi.ffm HTTP/1.0" 200 4165 127.0.0.1 - - [Sun Sep 4 10:41:14 2005] "POST /saibi.ffm HTTP/1.0" 200 0 where the last three lines appear after I start ffmpeg: /tmp$ ffmpeg http://127.0.0.1:8090/saibi.ffm ffmpeg version CVS, build 3211265, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard configuration: --build i486-linux-gnu --enable-gpl --enable-pp --enable-zlib --enable-vorbis --enable-libogg --enable-theora --enable-a52 --enable-dts --enable-dc1394 --enable-libgsm --disable-debug --prefix=/usr built on Aug 22 2005 20:00:15, gcc: 4.0.2 20050816 (prerelease) (Debian 4.0.1-5) Input #0, video4linux, from '': Duration: N/A, bitrate: N/A Stream #0.0: Video: rawvideo, yuv420p, 320x240, 15.00 fps Input #1, audio_device, from '': Duration: N/A, bitrate: N/A Stream #1.0: Audio: pcm_s16le, 22050 Hz, mono, 352 kb/s picture size invalid (0x0) Segmentation fault A gdb run of the ffmpeg produces: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x0815d6fa in img_resample_close () (gdb) bt #0 0x0815d6fa in img_resample_close () #1 0x0805d2ef in main () (gdb) x/4i $eip 0x815d6fa <img_resample_close+10>: mov 0x140(%ebx),%eax 0x815d700 <img_resample_close+16>: push %eax 0x815d701 <img_resample_close+17>: call 0x80ad350 <av_free> 0x815d706 <img_resample_close+22>: add $0x10,%esp (gdb) info reg ebx ebx 0x0 0 (gdb) info reg eax 0x1 1 ecx 0x0 0 edx 0xb7d79a7c -1210606980 ebx 0x0 0 esp 0xbff62054 0xbff62054 ebp 0xbff62068 0xbff62068 esi 0x0 0 edi 0x0 0 eip 0x815d6fa 0x815d6fa eflags 0x10282 66178 cs 0x73 115 ss 0x7b 123 ds 0x7b 123 es 0x7b 123 fs 0x0 0 gs 0x33 51 (gdb) Being a NULL pointer deref. Thanks, Sebastian PS: I used ffserver/ffmpeg with an older version of the pwc/pwcx driver about a year ago successfully to stream videos in three formats and I was very satisfied with the results. The webcam is the same, but about everything else changed :)

Framerate question...
by roccoberton＠belcom.it 05 Sep '05

Hi all. In my application I create different movies with different framerates with FFMpeg. I set the FFMpeg framerate in this way: c->time_base.num = 5; c->time_base.den = 50; and then I change the denominator when needed. When I start my application I get this message: [mpeg4 @ 0x833f368] removing common factors from framerate This message disappear if I use 1 as numerator... but I need more precision than a decimal unit... so I choose 5 and I have 0.2. My question... is a bad thing to have a numerator different from 1 ? _______________________________________ Mattia Roccoberton Belcom Security Systems S.R.L. ffmpeg compile problem under Mac OS X.4
by kant1304＠free.fr 05 Sep '05

05 Sep '05

Hi, After a few attempts I finally managed to solve my "undefined symbols" problem (environment variables not set and I wasn't adding the needed libraries, sorry for asking about such a trivial problem). However, my problem when running ffmpeg -formats remains: dyld: incompatible cpu-subtype Trace/BPT trap but dissapears if I compile without the additional support for ogg, vorbis, theora and xvid. Does anybody have an idea ? Thanks in advance

Minimum CPU requrement for DivX? Experiences?
by danci＠agenda.si 03 Sep '05

Hi, I'm considering building a portable digital VCR for use in vehicles or on motorcycles. I was going to use the VIA EPIA-N (Nano-ITX) platform, which offers very small form factor (120x120 mm) and is available with 533MHz, 800MHu or 1GHz VIA processors. I'd like to use PAL resolution, 25 fps and 'reasonable quality'. Can 1GHz processor cope with that? Thanks, D.

ffmpeg compile problem under Mac OS X.4
by kant1304＠free.fr 03 Sep '05

03 Sep '05

Hi, I have recently been trying to compile the last CVS version of ffmpeg under Mac OS X.4.2, and I have run into several problems. My configure options: ./configure --enable-libogg --enable-vorbis --enable-theora --enable-xvid --enable-gpl --cpu=powerpc --extra-cflags=-I/usr/local/include --extra-cflags=-I/usr/local/include/ao -I/usr/local/include/ogg -I/usr/local/include/vorbis -I/usr/local/include/theora --extra-ldflags=-L/usr/local/lib I used the default version of gcc (gcc4.0). The compilation went fine except for some linker warnings such as: /usr/bin/ld: warning multiple definitions of symbol _sinhf /usr/lib/gcc/powerpc-apple-darwin8/4.0.0/../../../libmx.dylib(single module) definition of _sinhf /usr/lib/gcc/powerpc-apple-darwin8/4.0.0/../../../libSystem.dylib(floating.o) definition of _sinhf But when I tried ffmpeg -formats, I was told: dyld: incompatible cpu-subtype Trace/BPT trap Furthermore, with the avcodec/avformat example from Mr. B?hme, the first time I tried to compile the example I was asked to ranlib libavcodec and libavformat again, and after that, each time I tried to compile the example, I got: /usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols: _av_reduce _av_rescale _av_rescale_q _ff_gcd _av_dbl2int _av_int2dbl _av_int2flt _ogg_stream_clear _ogg_stream_flush _ogg_stream_init _ogg_stream_packetin _ogg_stream_pageout _av_rescale_rnd _av_d2q _av_div_q _ff_log2_tab _ff_sqrt_tab _theora_comment_clear _theora_decode_YUVout _theora_decode_header _theora_decode_init _theora_decode_packetin _theora_info_clear _theora_info_init _vorbis_analysis _vorbis_analysis_blockout _vorbis_analysis_buffer _vorbis_analysis_headerout _vorbis_analysis_init _vorbis_analysis_wrote _vorbis_bitrate_addblock _vorbis_bitrate_flushpacket _vorbis_block_clear _vorbis_block_init _vorbis_comment_add_tag _vorbis_comment_clear _vorbis_comment_init _vorbis_dsp_clear _vorbis_encode_init _vorbis_encode_init_vbr _vorbis_info_clear _vorbis_info_init _vorbis_synthesis _vorbis_synthesis_blockin _vorbis_synthesis_headerin _vorbis_synthesis_init _vorbis_synthesis_pcmout _vorbis_synthesis_read _xvid_encore _xvid_global _xvid_plugin_2pass2 _xvid_plugin_lumimasking _xvid_plugin_single collect2: ld returned 1 exit status This looks like libraries are missing, but I checked my /usr/local/lib and /usr/local/include contents, and all the needed libraries were there... Maybe the solution is trivial (some environment variable not properly set, a missing flag during configure...), and if so I apologize (I'm still pretty new to this). Anyway does someone know how to solve this problem ? Thanks in advance
