Quicktime to mpeg2
by fa1＠falkoa.de 14 Sep '05

14 Sep '05

Hi, I installed ffmpeg 0.4.9-pre1 on my mac using fink and tried to convert a quicktime .mov to mpeg, but I got the following error: --- me$ ffmpeg -i test.mov test.mpg ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4718, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard built on Sep 13 2005 21:45:39, gcc: 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1809) Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp, from 'test.mov': Duration: N/A, bitrate: N/A No audio or video streams available --- What could I be doing wrong? I tried this with several different .mov files that used different encodings (mpeg4, yuv, no compression) but none of them worked... Shouldn't ffmpeg be able to convert .mov files? Thanks in advance Falko

Has anyone successfully converted a 3g2 file to another file format? My attempts keep aborting with "Resampling with input channels greater than 2 unsupported.Can't resample.". If anyone has converted a 3g2 file to any other format I would be interested in seeing the command and ffmpeg set up. Note: I am able to convert 3gp files just fine. Using libavcodec/format to read raw YUV4:2:0 from a file
by Bernhard.Agthe＠mchp.siemens.de 13 Sep '05

13 Sep '05

Hi, Using the tutorial at [1] I try to read from a avi file raw YUV 4:2:0 video data. Actually I'm happy with YV12 video format. My problem is: In the tutorial the author uses pCodec=avcodec_find_decoder(pCodecCtx->codec_id); to find a decoder to RGB format - while I need a decoder to some YUV 4:2:0 format - how do I achieve this? Additionally I need to write YUV 4:2:0 raw data to a file once reading works - but there is nothing in the tutorial - could you point me to the functions / structures I need to use, please? mpeg-4 decoding
by sdhays＠neon.com.tw 13 Sep '05

13 Sep '05

I'm writing an MPEG-4 RTP player in Java using JMF and the FOBS4JMF framework, which uses libavcodec and libavformat for its decoding. I need to play an MPEG-4 stream from a hardware encoder. FFmpeg and FOBS4JMF are both able to play this MPEG-4 stream without difficulty when playing from a file, but when receiving over RTP, I keep getting [mpeg4 @ 0x6142804]header damaged The header it's talking about seems to be the VOP header. However, when playing a stream from an FFmpeg-encoded file, I don't have this problem, and I've saved the buffers from my RTP depacketizer to a file which ffplay plays without difficulty. MPlayer has no problems playing this stream, while VLC also reports many "header damaged" errors. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this? The only difference I can really see between playing from a file and from an RTP stream would be that playing over RTP delivers a complete frame on each call to avcodec_decode_video. Would this make a difference? Problem using ffmpeg/ffserver with feeds.
by ggrabler＠gmail.com 12 Sep '05

12 Sep '05

I've been trying the following: Setting up ffserver with a valid feed for feeding it using ffmpeg. Finding a command to feed the stream, streaming a video captured by v4l. Following configuration: ffserver.conf Port 80 BindAddress 0.0.0.0 MaxClients 1000 MaxBandwidth 2000 CustomLog - NoDaemon <Feed test.ffm> File /tmp/test.ffm FileMaxSize 200M # Only allow connections from localhost to the feed ACL allow 127.0.0.1 </Feed> <Stream test.avi> Feed test.ffm Format mpeg VideoBitRate 256 VideoFrameRate 15 VideoSize cif VideoCodec mpeg4 VideoQMin 3 VideoQMax 31 VideoHighQuality VideoGopSize 30 </Stream> # Serveur status <Stream stat.html> Format status ACL allow 192.168.17.124 </Stream> So far, that's quite fine. FFserver starts without any warning / error. [root at localhost root]# ffserver & [1] 4273 ffserver started. Now, i use ffmpeg to feed the ffserver feed, from the same machine of course. FFmpeg throws a strange error there, which i don't know. ffmpeg ffmpeg -vd /dev/video0 http://localhost/test.ffm ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4730, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard configuration: --host=i686-pc-linux-gnu --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu --target=i386-redhat-linux --program-prefix= --prefix=/usr --exec-prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --sysconfdir=/etc --datadir=/usr/share --includedir=/usr/include --libdir=/usr/lib --libexecdir=/usr/libexec --localstatedir=/var --sharedstatedir=/usr/com --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --extra-cflags=-O2 -march=i386 -mcpu=i686 --enable-mp3lame --enable-vorbis --enable-faad --enable-faac --enable-xvid --enable-pp --enable-shared-pp --enable-shared --enable-gpl --disable-strip built on Jan 15 2005 15:17:58, gcc: 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5) 127.0.0.1 - - [Mon Sep 12 22:01:18 2005] "GET /test.ffm HTTP/1.0" 200 4165 127.0.0.1 - - [Mon Sep 12 22:01:18 2005] "GET /test.ffm HTTP/1.0" 200 4165 Input #0, video4linux, from '': Duration: N/A, bitrate: N/A Stream #0.0: Video: rawvideo, yuv420p, 352x288, 15.00 fps Input #1, audio_device, from '': Duration: N/A, bitrate: N/A Stream #1.0: Audio: pcm_s16le, 22050 Hz, mono, 352 kb/s Output #0, ffm, to 'http://localhost/test.ffm': Stream #0.0: Audio: mp2, 22050 Hz, mono, 64 kb/s Stream #0.1: Video: mpeg4, 352x288, 15.00 fps, q=3-31, 256 kb/s Stream mapping: Stream #1.0 -> #0.0 Stream #0.0 -> #0.1 [mpeg4 @ 0x402a01f8]a vbv buffer size is needed, for encoding with a maximum bitrate Error while opening codec for stream #0.1 - maybe incorrect parameters such as bit_rate, rate, width or height 127.0.0.1 - - [Mon Sep 12 22:01:19 2005] "POST /test.ffm HTTP/1.0" 200 0 Does anyone have an advice what the problem could be, and how it could be solved? quicktime frame rate issue after flv conversion
by ducky＠flukiest.com 12 Sep '05

12 Sep '05

Has anyone seen issues with quicktime not syncing correctly after you convert it to flv? I am finding this happens with quicktime files that return framerates in the 100's. [root at yosemite 5024]# movieinfo ../../../../videos/91/10/119/PICT0185.MOV width: 320 height: 240 frame rate: 600.00 duration: 45.53 frame count: 27320 has audio: 1 If the frame rate is like 15 - 20 it works fine. http://www.flukiest.com/c/picture.cgi?f_image_id=33468 http://www.flukiest.com/c/picture.cgi?f_image_id=33302 are examples of a flv with syncing issues. It also does not seem to help if I pass the -r option to ffmpeg option to ffmpeg to force a certain frame rate in the finalize flv.
