Old school question - not sure if I should ask here.

Hello, Just wanted to thank the developers of ffmpeg for a wonderful program, I have been using it for years before I even knew I was (Media Player Classic, mplayer, and SUPER). I am working on a project that my limited coding skills can wrap around, a PSX STR converter (to/from) that creats a PSX CD to use on modded machines or pulls files from a CD and converts them to other formats. It seems that the psxstr.c only decodes the STR files, would it be a simple coding addition to add the possibility of encoding to STR? That would make my project much easier (and would be a great addition to the program) If I should have posted this to the development list, I am sorry, and can repost there if needed. Thanks again, Bill Loper PSX Old School Lover PSX with Game Enhancer User

newbie question

Hello! I am a newbie ffmpeg programmer and i'm having some trouble with the "avcodec_find_encoder" function. When I execute the following line of code: codec = avcodec_find_encoder(CODEC_ID_MP2); the function returns null, and i cannot proceed. I'm studing the source "api_example.c" and i got stuck in here. Dont have any clue about how to solve this problem, so i appreciate any directions you could guive me. I'm programming under visual studio 2005, using the compiled library avcodec.lib. Thank you Daniel __________________________________________________ Fale com seus amigos de gra?a com o novo Yahoo! Messenger http://br.messenger.yahoo.com/

ffmpeg mpeg-2 encoding: is there a max size?
by rmvsxop＠gmail.com 20 Dec '06

20 Dec '06

Hello, I'm trying to encode high-resolution, high-frequency video in such a way that it will play back correctly on a high-end MSWinXP PC (dual AMD 64 X2, nVidia 7600GT/GTO graphics). 1280x1024 at 60Hz, 24kbyte/s throughput gives a usable quality, but we need 3 times the width, i.e. 3840x1024, playable at 60Hz. When I just ask ffmpeg to change the horizontal resolution to 3840, I get clips that show nothing. (I can't frame-step through mpeg-2 clips as I don't have the required QickTime plugin). I've read elsewhere that most mpeg-2 encoders don't support this resolution, so I'm wondering if that's what's happening here? Thanks, R.M.

ffmpeg and external apps

Is there anywhere in the code that defines whether ffmpeg uses an external program or uses internal codecs for a file format. Encoding from mp3 to 3gp with ffmpeg

Thanks a lot, i've installed the AMR codec, an dot woked perfectly. Applause ! -----Original Message----- From: ffmpeg-user-bounces at mplayerhq.hu [mailto:ffmpeg-user-bounces at mplayerhq.hu] On Behalf Of Godwin Stewart Sent: mardi 19 d?cembre 2006 11:43 To: ffmpeg-user at mplayerhq.hu Subject: Re: [Ffmpeg-user] Encoding from mp3 to 3gp with ffmpeg On Tue, 19 Dec 2006 11:12:21 +0100, "Julien BALMONT" <julien.balmont at echovox.com> wrote: > Do you know which codec I should add ? and how to ? If you want to encode for cellphones then you'll need the AMR audio codecs. See http://howto-pages.org/ffmpeg Once they're installed, your command line will be something like this: $ ffmpeg -i input.mp3 -acodec amr_nb -ar 8000 -ac 1 -ab 12 -f 3gp output.3gp There's no need for "-vn" because there's no video in the input in the first place. The -ar, -ac and -ab options are necessary because the sample rate, number of channels and bitrate of the MP3 file are almost certainly incompatible with those supported by AMR narrowband. -- G.
