Problem with copying streams
by lombarus＠gmx.net 31 May '06

Hi there, last month I tried to copy a part form a videofile using ffmpeg with the options -i <input_filename> -acodec copy -vcodec copy -ss 00:09:00 -t 00:01:00, followed by the name of the outputfile, and it work great with every inputfile I tried. In the meantime I had to reinstall my computer. Now i tried it again, but just the mpeg1 file work correct. By all others I get at least the "non monotone timestams" error. Other problems are, that the output file has about 350 MB although the input file has just 28 MB(and I just copy a piece of it), or the new generated video does conatin the correct time info, means the length of the video is 10 minutes (see upper example) and not only one minute. Some video will work if I don't set the option -vcodec, other when not using -acodec. What I trie do is to copy some piece of video without de- and encoding the file. I built it the same way than last time using the --enable-share --disable-static option. I installed all necessary codec. I checked out the newest sourcecode and also tried my old one, both with the same behaviour. Does anyone has any idea what the problem could be? Thank for help Roman Langl

I do not think this is the problem, since generated config.mak file contains all codecs with yes, like : ---------------- AMR=yes AMR_NB=yes CONFIG_Ac3_encoder=yes CONFIG_mp2_encoder=yes CONFIG_mp3lAme_encoder=yes CONFIG_oggvorbis_encoder=yes CONFIG_oggvorbis_decoder=yes CONFIG_oggtheorA_encoder=yes CONFIG_oggtheorA_decoder=yes CONFIG_fAAc_encoder=yes CONFIG_xvid_encoder=yes CONFIG_mpeg1video_encoder=yes CONFIG_h264_encoder=yes CONFIG_mpeg2video_encoder=yes CONFIG_h261_encoder=yes CONFIG_h263_encoder=yes CONFIG_h263p_encoder=yes CONFIG_flv_encoder=yes CONFIG_rv10_encoder=yes CONFIG_rv20_encoder=yes CONFIG_mpeg4_encoder=yes CONFIG_msmpeg4v1_encoder=yes CONFIG_msmpeg4v2_encoder=yes CONFIG_msmpeg4v3_encoder=yes CONFIG_wmv1_encoder=yes CONFIG_wmv2_encoder=yes CONFIG_svq1_encoder=yes CONFIG_mjpeg_encoder=yes CONFIG_ljpeg_encoder=yes CONFIG_jpegls_encoder=yes CONFIG_png_encoder=yes CONFIG_ppm_encoder=yes CONFIG_pgm_encoder=yes CONFIG_pgmyuv_encoder=yes ... etc ----------------- Moreover, I compiled 'ffmpeg-0.4.9-pre1' on some linux box without all those '--enable-xxx' options and it worked fine. bye, Jan. > >Akiyuki > >Jan Gnezda wrote: >>/ Hi, />>/ />>/ I am having problems with compiling and using ffmpeg (yesterday's />>/ check-out from SVN) on Solaris 9. Grab video with no audio?
by john＠clonts.org 31 May '06

31 May '06

Sorry if its a dumb question but I did RTFM and couldn't find it. I have no audio device, but want to capture video. What option do I give ffmpeg to avoid its complaint "Could not find audio grab device"? I tried /dev/null but that didn't work :) Thanks! John

ffplay ignores timestamps?
by sjj＠maths.uq.edu.au 30 May '06

30 May '06

Hi, I am creating a variable framerate mp4 movie and displaying it using ffplay. The movie appears to run too fast. ffplay obtains the correct timebase (I print it out), but the timestamps are incorrect. The timestamps are successive increments of the timebase ie. the duration of each frame is always 1 timebase unit. I think this is incorrect because the correct timing is slightly random, so the duration of each frame should not always be exactly 1 timebase unit. It appears as though ffplay is ignoring the timestamps that I specify when creating the movie. The movie is created by: 1. Setting the time_base on the codec and stream: AVCodecContext *c = video_stream->codec; c->time_base.num = 1; c->time_base.den = 1000; video_stream->time_base.num = 1; video_stream->time_base.den = 1000; 2. Setting the timestamp on the codec (every frame): c->coded_frame->pts = time_since_movie_started_in_timebase_units AVFrame picture.pts = time_since_movie_started_in_timebase_units AVFormatContext oc.timestamp = time_since_movie_started_in_timebase_units where: picture is the AVFrame that is passed to avcodec_encode_video(): avcodec_encode_video(c, buf, bufsize, picture), oc is the AVFormatContext passed to av_write_frame() - see next step. 3. Setting the duration (every frame): pkt.duration = current_time_in_timebase_units - prev_time_in_timebase_units av_write_frame(oc, &pkt); Am I setting the timestamps correctly? cheers steve ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/

"Other tools in the marketplace only 'index' or 'turn' in 90 degree increments without fully rotating, which is an inefficient means of latching a fish. We are delighted by the overwhelming response from customers regarding the capabilities of these tools." sialodochitis libidos The Rotating Tool is a device that attaches to the end of a coiled tube to assist with "latching a fish," or removing production kits or undesired obstructions from the well by introducing rotation under mechanical pressure. The design and action of the tool is similar to a "Yankee screwdriver." If, for example, during normal operations, a piece of coiled tube is broken off and remains lodged in the wellbore, it can be difficult to get the new coiled tubing line past the obstruction. By introducing rotation to the "overshot," or latching mechanism at the end of the tool, obstructions can be cleared without the need to manually work the tool through the well head. eelgrass invitees Coil Tubing Technology was established in 1998 by an innovative founder that has over thirty years experience in the design of oil-field tools in general and fifteen years of experience in the design of proprietary tools for the coiled tubing industry in particular. Mixing multiple input audio streams
by rweeks＠razorwire.ca 27 May '06

27 May '06

Hi, I'd like to know if there is a feature in ffmpeg that allows me to mix multiple audio input streams into a single output stream. FFMPeg's output currently looks like this: Input #0, mpeg, from 'TIM_BURTONS_CORPSE_BRIDE/VIDEO_TS/VTS_03_1.VOB': Duration: 00:18:09.1, start: 0.045500, bitrate: 7887 kb/s Stream #0.0[0x1e0], 29.97 fps(r): Video: mpeg2video, yuv420p, 720x480, 7500 kb/s Stream #0.1[0x83]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5:1, 448 kb/s Stream #0.2[0x82]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5:1, 448 kb/s Stream #0.3[0x81]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5:1, 448 kb/s Stream #0.4[0x80]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5:1, 448 kb/s File 'tbcb-chap1.mp4' already exists. Overwrite ? [y/N] y Output #0, mp4, to 'tbcb-chap1.mp4': Stream #0.0, 29.97 fps(c): Video: mpeg4 (hq), yuv420p, 320x240, q=2-31, 1200 kb/s Stream #0.1: Audio: aac, 48000 Hz, stereo, 128 kb/s Stream mapping: Stream #0.0 -> #0.0 Stream #0.1 -> #0.1 (The command I'm using is nearly identical to the sample command given in the FAQ for converting videos for the iPod) I would ideally like to map streams 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 to output stream 0.1. This doesn't seem possible using the -map argument. Is there any other way to do this? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a console-based tool that can do this mixing? Perhaps I could export the audio from ffmpeg, mix it with this tool, and then run ffmpeg again to insert it into the new video file. I'm working with the May 19th CVS snapshot since the repository was down, last time I checked. Thanks, Russ
