People: I'm trying to test hardware MPEG acceleration on an NVidia graphics board. I'm using Fedora Core 5 with the Livna rpms. In the past (using FC3 or FC4), I was able to do this: mplayer -vo xvmc -vc ffmpeg12mc file.ts ... and it would play using XvMC. But now I get an error message: Cannot find codec 'mpegvideo_xvmc' in libavcodec... Ffmpeg and subtitles
by ivalladolidt＠terra.es 25 May '06

25 May '06

On Windows, I use VirtualDub to render subtitles in .ssa format and then I feed the result to TMPGEnc or Ffmpeg in order to get a MPEG-1 file ready to be burnt to VCD. I would be saving at least two intermediate steps if Ffmpeg rendered subtitles by its own. Does Ffmpeg support rendering subtitles in .srt or .ssa format? Is it expected to do it? Ffmpeg and VirtualDub frame server
by ivalladolidt＠terra.es 25 May '06

25 May '06

On Windows 2K, I tried to use Ffmeg to open the .avi file created by the VirtualDub frame server, in the same way I use TMPGEnc to encode video stuff to MPEG-1 in order to burn it to VCD. Unfortunately it doesn't work so using Ffmpeg I need first to create an intermediate .avi file, something slower. Why can't Ffmpeg open that .avi file? To an application isn't it a "normal" .avi file?
