Shown below is the ffmpeg version I'm running. I have two questions about different issues: 1) performance tuning and 2) using --enable-shared. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- reid at linux:~/FFMpeg-20050519/FFMpeg-20050519> ffmpeg -version ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4755, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard configuration: --prefix=/usr --enable-mp3lame --enable-gpl built on May 18 2005 22:26:04, gcc: 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809) ffmpeg 0.4.9-pre1 libavcodec 4755 libavformat 4624 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Regarding performance tuning, I wonder if I well get better performance from ffmpeg if I ./configure it with the cpu info I'm using? I have an AMD x86_64. Should I use the --tune option, and would the syntax be --tune=x86_64, or some other syntax. What might that be, please? 2) When I have run ./configure with --enable-shared the Make bombs. Should I be adding some other options or switches (meaning..is it something I'm doing wrong?) and can you tell me what it is I need to do or is ffmpeg just not ready for --enable-shared with x86_64? MP4 video to FLV convert problem

Hi All, I managed to convert .wmv file to flv. question about max frames

Hi, For a non-profit webcam project, I'm convertinh webcam images into an avi file. This works great, except that it stops at frame 121. Are there buildin-limts about max numer of images that can be combined into a movie? I've been seraching thru the docs and cant find anything that makes a bell ring. Could you please help me out? The links directory contains about 10000 symlinks to all images. Where to download ffmpeg

Hi, I just found this librairy using ffmpeg, so I wanted to use ffmpeg but when I go to forgesource to download it the folder is empty and all other web page link to the sourceforge web page ! so I was wondering if you can send me ffmpeg and actually is it normal there is nothing on the sourceforge page ? let me know, thanks Jerome

lossless MPEG2 -> H264

Hi Guys, I have been trying to reencode some of my mythtv videos to H264 to save space. I have noticed that whilst the quality is good - its not lossless. Is there a way to enable this? My command so far is : ffmpeg -i inMPEG2.mpg -f avi -vcodec h264 -acodec copy out264.avi Cheers Dave

No .lib files produced by build (mingw)

By following the Visual C++ compatibility instructions, I have (mostly) successfully built ffmpeg's libraries (avcodec, avformat and avutil), but am unable to use them. The problem is that the build doesn't seem a proper .lib file to link against. Here are the files make produces: avcodec.dll.lib avcodec.dll.exp avcodec.dll.51 avcodec.dll libavcodec.dll.a avformat.dll.lib avformat.dll.exp avformat.dll.50 avformat.dll libavformat.dll.a avutil.dll.lib avutil.dll.exp avutil.dll.49 avutil.dll libavutil.dll.a The .dll seem to be ok, but I can't figure out which files to use as the corresponding .lib file. The .dll.lib files are very small (2kb) and don't contain any relevant symbol definitions so I can't even link my application. Using the .dll.a files, I'm able to successfully link my application, but I get a runtime crash on startup. I don't recall having this problem 6 months ago when building the latest version. Has anyone else seen this and know how to work around it? My configuration information is below. If the solution is really obvisou, I apologize for my ignorance, but please let me know what it is. x264 support - please help!

I was having the same problem, and i had to change /etc/ld.so.conf to include the line /usr/local/lib Then I had to run ldconfig. This will tell the linker to look in /usr/local/lib to find the x264 headers. C
