unexpected channel configuration error (mp4 to flv) and unknown encoder 'mp3'
by arungnair＠gmail.com 24 Aug '07

24 Aug '07

Hi, I have installed the latest ffmpeg snapshot ( ffmpeg-export-2007-08-22 ). test:~# ffmpeg FFmpeg version SVN-r10178, Copyright (c) 2000-2007 Fabrice Bellard, et al. configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-pp --enable-zlib --enable-libvorbis --enable-libogg --enable-libtheora --enable-liba52 --enable-dc1394 --enable-libgsm --disable-debug --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libfaad --enable-libxvid --enable-libamr-nb --enable-libamr-wb --enable-libfaac --enable-pthreads --disable-debug libavutil version: 49.5.0 libavcodec version: 51.41.0 libavformat version: 51.12.2 built on Aug 23 2007 11:12:31, gcc: 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21) Some libs where installed using binary packages (apt-get) and some (amrnb, amrwb, faac, faad2) were compiled in. Now when I try to convert an mp4 file to flv, I get Error while decoding stream #0.1 [mpeg4aac @ 0x85a3708]faac: frame decoding failed: Unexpected channel configuration change The resulting video is fine, but without any audio. Below is the command I used, # ffmpeg -i test.mp4 -ar 22050 -ab 32 -f flv -s 320x240 -b 200k -r 20 ~/test.flv Also, when I try to pass '-acodec mp3' it halts with Unknown encoder 'mp3' I tried compiling with '--enable-encoder=mp3', but it still gives me the same error. Any ideas ? Any help will be greatly appreciated. TIA -Arun

Reliably retrieving a stream's resolution
by ffmpeg＠divus.org 24 Aug '07

24 Aug '07

On both OS X and Linux boxes, I've tried to retrieve the resolution for some MPEG files, without reliable success, using either ffmpeg or mplayer. (I'm trying to calculate the cropbottom / cropright values necessary to get decent full-frame encodes using ffmpeg, since ffmpeg doesn't seem to grab the actual resolution of the input MPEG files.) Feeding ffmpeg very simple MPEG1 files that Quicktime accurately reports the parameters of, I get different results; e.g., one pretty vanilla file, when opened in Quicktime Player, has the following in its Info window: Format: MPEG1 Muxed, 320 x 240 pixels FPS: 25 Data Size: 57.75 MB Data Rate: 1397.01 kbits/s Current Time: 0:00:00:00.00 Duration: 0:00:05:47.20 Normal Size: 320 x 240 pixels RealPlayer also sees the file as 320x240. However, ffmpeg reports it as: Duration: 00:05:47.1, start: 0.346711, bitrate: 1395 kb/s Stream #0.0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg1video, yuv420p, 352x288, 1150 kb/ s, 25.00 fps(r) Stream #0.1[0x1c0]: Audio: mp2, 44100 Hz, stereo, 224 kb/s Which causes the resulting encode to be offset into a corner of the frame. I'm using the latest svn-sourced source for ffmpeg, as retrieved late last night. Oddly, mplayer reports the same bad information, e.g., the output of this command: mplayer -identify -frames 0 -vc null -vo null -ao null FILENAME is the same bad resolution. Clips with 480x360 resolution, MPEG2, are identified as MPEG2 but 480x480. MPEG1 clips at 320x240 are seen as being 352x288. Clips with 352x240 are properly identified as 352x240, even when I used the exact same encoder settings to create the 352x240 and 320x240 (aside from resolution, of course). Any thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong? Any way to correct? Is there a different tool I could/should be using to grab the resolution, etc., from an MPEG (and ideally XviD and h.264 and...) stream? Many thanks! Chris

Hi, I compiled ffmpeg with libfaac and libfaad enabled. But I am getting unsupported codec when trying to convert mp4 file. I have been googling for solution but could not find any. H.264 to MPEG2 TS
by aminzia＠yahoo.com 23 Aug '07

23 Aug '07

Hi everybody, I need to encapsulate the H.264 bitstream into MPEG2 TS. I did this by using: ffmpeg -f h264 -i filename.264 -vcodec copy -f mpegts output.ts and it's working. Now, i'm wondering if anybody can comment on similar encapsulation for online operation. I mean as the input file is generated, the output ts file be generated. Something like an online streaming conversion. Any idea? Thank you all Amin McMaster University Canada

3gp question
by DionG＠Viewcast.com 23 Aug '07

23 Aug '07

Ummm sorry if I wasn't clear. I already have amr, and all the others already working. I just want to know what specifications that the 3gp container uses in ffmpeg what version it is. Does ffmpeg support isma and also if ffmpeg supports multbitrate in ffmpeg as in its all compiled fine. Can I specify multiple bitrates in one stream.

Reading/Writing video files: output video has issues
by maxphil＠gmail.com 23 Aug '07

23 Aug '07

Hello guys, this is my first post on this mailing list. I recently read "Transcoding with libavformat/libavcodec by polymorph May 2nd, 2007" and successfully compiled the example. What does this program do? It opens a input video file, decodes/read the frames and then create another video file and encodes/write the frames back in. Unfortunatly I'm having a problem: the video file created (test-out.avi) isn't 100% right. I'm using FFmpeg 0.4.9. Here is the video I submitted to the program: http://www.inf.ufsc.br/~leandro.coser/test.mpg<http://www.inf.ufsc.br/%7Eleandro.coser/test.mpg> and it's output (not quite what we expected, right?): http://www.inf.ufsc.br/~leandro.coser/test-out.avi<http://www.inf.ufsc.br/%7Eleandro.coser/test-out.avi> Source code: http://www.inf.ufsc.br/~leandro.coser/transcode_sample.c<http://www.inf.ufsc.br/%7Eleandro.coser/transcode_sample.c> I also tried to change guess_format() to "mpeg" instead of "avi" (I thought it could be a Codec problem), but the video file created had problems too. Can someone help me or give me directions? Thank you all..

I have been looking up information on ffmpegs 3gpp support and haven't been able to find out answers to these questions. Maybe someone else might know? Does ffmpeg support 3gpp version 2? 5? Or 6? Does ffmpeg support isma output to the file? Does ffmpeg support multibitrates?? Thanks for any help you can offer. Dion

flash beta now supports h624: can we use ffmpeg to encode it?
by fabio.varesano＠gmail.com 23 Aug '07

23 Aug '07

Hi all, the new beta version of Flash player supports h264 encoded videos. See: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer9/ http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pressroom/pressreleases/200708/082107FlashP… Tech: http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Flash_Player:9:Update:H.264 Relevant is this: > Q: Which audio and video standards does Flash Player 9 Update 3 implement? > A: Flash Player 9 will support subsets of the MPEG-4 standards defined by ISO/IEC 14496-12, ISO/IEC 14496-10, ISO/IEC 14496-3, and the 3GPP timed text format standard. Specifically, Flash Player will support the following standards: > > * ISO/IEC 14496-3: (Audio AAC) AAC Main; AAC LC; SBR > * ISO/IEC 14496-10: (Video AVC) Base (BP); Main (MP); High (HiP). All levels are supported. > * ISO/IEC 14496-12: (Container) 1 Audio track; 1 Video track > * 3GPP TS 26.245: (Timed text format) > Are we able to use ffmpeg to encode such video types? Anyone have an idea of a command for that? Thanks for your help, Fabio Varesano
