joining two videos

hello all i would like to do dynamically create a video that has a customized text in the picture during the first 3 seconds. everything should happen very fast. at the time we do the following: 1. we create 75 pictures/frames with the customized text using gdlib. 2. we encode the frames and combine them with an audiotrack with this command: ffmpeg -f image2 -i title_%02d.jpg -vcodec h264 -b 200k -r 25 -i title_audio.mp4 -map 0:0 -map 1:0 output_title.mp4 i get a short mpeg4 h264 video. 3. we would like to join this short video with a very long video that has already been encoded using exactly the same command. (already prepared before, because non time critical). we tried this: MP4Box -cat output_title.mp4 -cat long.mp4 -new output_finished.mp4 but with this command we get a mpeg4 with two videostreams. the files can be found here: http://diagonal.com/join/ how can one join two videoclips withe the same settings into one? would be cool to have a command which doesn't needs to reencode the second file ("troughput") to safe valuable time. or is there a completely different approach to write a custom text into the first 3 seconds of a movie very fast? the movie should be mpeg4/h264 and should play in any player especially the quicktime player. thanks for the help! t.

Hi all, I am new to ffmpeg and I was just trying to get familarize with ffmpeg code and functions. Can you guys point me to the documentation of ffmpeg code, in the sense what a particular function will do, highlevel is also fine. I went through the documentation page in ffmpeg site but couldn't find it. Also point to me any useful materials that I can go through to get familiar with the ffmpeg code. Thanks in advance. libavfilter docs or examples?
by joshjdevl＠gmail.com 03 Nov '08

Hi, In the documentation it mentions that libavfilter is the replacement for vhook. http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/hooks.html Are there any examples or documentation how to use this? Specifically, I would like to overlay some PNG images over some videos I have. Thanks, Josh

RTSP reading problem

Hi all, today i've installed compiled package of FFMPEG for OpenWRT on my ASUS WL500Gp. I want to record a small piece of video from a ip camera that support RTSP streaming protocol with MPEG4 video compression. If i run the recorder on my linux machine....all work fine, but on my embedded device i've a follow error: # ffmpeg -an -i rtsp://192.168.3.2/live_mpeg4.sdp -f rawvideo /tmp/a.avi FFmpeg version SVN-r12898, Copyright (c) 2000-2008 Fabrice Bellard, et al. configuration: --enable-cross-compile --cross-prefix=mipsel-linux-uclibc- --arch=mipsel --prefix=/usr --enable-shared --enable-static --disable-debug --enable-ffmpeg --enable-ffserver --enable-gpl --disable-ipv6 --enable-libfaad --enable-pthreads --disable-optimizations --enable-small --disable-stripping --disable-vhook --enable-zlib --disable-encoders --disable-decoders --enable-decoder=ac3 --enable-decoder=atrac3 --enable-decoder=h264 --enable-decoder=jpegls --enable-decoder=mp3 --enable-decoder=mpeg1video --enable-decoder=mpeg2video --enable-decoder=mpeg4 --enable-decoder=mpeg4aac --enable-decoder=mpegvideo --enable-decoder=png --enable-decoder=wmav1 --enable-decoder=wmav2 --enable-decoder=zlib --disable-muxers --enable-muxer=ffm --disable-demuxers --enable-demuxer=ac3 --enable-demuxer=h264 --enable-demuxer=mp3 --enable-demuxer=mpegts --enable-demuxer=mpegvideo --enable-demuxer=rtsp --enable-demuxer=sdp --disable-parsers --enable-parser=ac3 --enable-parser=h264 --enable-parser=mpegaudio --enable-parser=mpegvideo --disable-bsfs --disable-protocols --enable-protocol=rtp --enable-protocol=udp libavutil version: 49.6.0 libavcodec version: 51.55.0 libavformat version: 52.13.0 libavdevice version: 52.0.0 built on Oct 24 2008 15:57:34, gcc: 3.4.6 (OpenWrt-2.0) rtsp://192.168.3.2/live_mpeg4.sdp: I/O error occurred Usually that means that input file is truncated and/or corrupted. Joining several files together

Well, this works only for MP4 files and all sources must be using the same video/audio format, so it's not general solution for all file formats. For AVI files you could use AviSynth. Take a look at this same ffmpeg mailing list archive from the previous month and "Merging AVI (dv type 2) content and h264 MP4 files with ffmpeg" thread. I haven't tried the ffmpeg patch Victor mentioned, but I will give it a try at some point (I already have ffmpeg MinGW Win32 compilation environment up and running, so just a matter of time). My current needs were solved by AviSynth and MP4BOX tools, but if this patch makes it possible for all file formats at the same time then it is ?ber solution (transcoding only what is really needed and compatible sources are just muxed into target video). _________________________________________________________________ Discover the new Windows Vista http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=windows+vista&mkt=en-US&form=QBRE

libx264 and ffmpeg
by david.thompson＠nativ.tv 03 Nov '08

03 Nov '08

Hello: I am using an SVN build from 11th October (Packman package) of ffmpeg to try to encode a VOB video to MP4 via libx264 and am having some issues setting and limiting the bitrate. I have tried using commands -b 1200, -b 1200k and -b 1200kb as well as -bt 100 (with and without k, kb) and have tried adding -rc_eq "blurCplx^(1-qComp)" as well but the bitrate of the encoded video always ends up around the 2500 kb mark which I am assuming is a default of some kind. Does anyone have any advice on how to limit the bitrate to 1200kb and even better, how to encode at a constant bitrate? Cheers, David

remapping streams
by gromeck＠gromeck.de 03 Nov '08

Hi, I have a problem with the mapping of some input streams to output streams: The input file 001.mpg contains: Stream #0.0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg2video, yuv420p, 720x576 [PAR 64:45 DAR 16:9], 15000 kb/s, 25.00 tb(r) Stream #0.1[0x1c0]: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 256 kb/s Stream #0.2[0x1c1]: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 192 kb/s Stream #0.3[0x80]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 448 kb/s I would like to get rid of stream #0.2 by mapping. When I try this ... ffmpeg -y -i 001.mpg 001-fixed.mpg \ -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -map 0:3 \ -vcodec copy -acodec copy -acodec copy -newaudio I get ... Input #0, mpeg, from '001.mpg': Duration: 01:59:41.28, start: 0.540000, bitrate: 6568 kb/s Stream #0.0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg2video, yuv420p, 720x576 [PAR 64:45 DAR 16:9], 15000 kb/s, 25.00 tb(r) Stream #0.1[0x1c0]: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 256 kb/s Stream #0.2[0x1c1]: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 192 kb/s Stream #0.3[0x80]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 448 kb/s Output #0, mpeg, to '001-fixed.mpg': Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg1video, yuv420p, 720x576 [PAR 64:45 DAR 16:9], q=2-31, 200 kb/s, 25.00 tb(c) Stream #0.1: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 64 kb/s Stream #0.2: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 448 kb/s Stream mapping: Stream #0.0 -> #0.0 Stream #0.1 -> #0.1 Stream #0.3 -> #0.2 Output stream #0.1 is now 64kb/s, which is not the expected bitrate, as the stream should be copied. I tried several other possibilities to rearrange the parameters, but nothing works. Any ideas or hints? Thanks. Sch?nen Gruss -- gromeck

Joining several files together

Hi, I want to use ffmpeg.exe to join several files together. for instance taking a film which has been split into two parts, and joining them into 1 part. I understand that for certain formats this is possible by simply concating them together, but I am interested in an general solution which would work for all formats, and with the ability to transcode etc. is this possible in ffmpeg.exe today? if not, would it be possible and how can I help to develop this feature? Thanks Aviad Rozenhek RayV.com
