.m4a to .flv - image/video fails

Hi all, I have greatly appreciated the information I have already gleaned from reading this forum. However I still can not solve my current problem. I am trying to convert from .m4a to .flv. These are podcast files (.m4a) built in garage band. Pictures were added as well and we would like to use this format to create weekly announcements because Garage Band is so easy for our non-technically oriented staff. Using ffmpeg the audio converts just fine but the "video" is not right. I guess it's because these files include chapter data not actual video. However when I convert it to any format the images fly through at different rates, then it seems to get stuck on a picture in the middle. The format I would like to convert to is flash so that I can easy display multiple announcement files using a flash player. I can convert .mov to .flv no problem. Converting .m4a to .mov and then .flv doesn't produce any better results. I'm hoping someone can lead me in the right direction.? I've upgraded my OLD debian to ubuntu and noticed my old-fashioned way of capturing video from my webcam doesn't work anymore.? I must be missing some newly-required parameters?? In a more recent SVN (June 22nd), I got a similar error, but it had text more like "Incorrect width, height, or rate". Any help is appreciated.

Compiling ffmpeg with extra libs without root access

Hi I am trying to compile ffmpeg but I don't have root privilige on the machine. I've compiled using --prefix when configuring - but the problem is that I need to use lameMp3 encoder and libamr-wb and libamr- nb. These I have installed and placed in my home dir - but how do I make sure that ffmpeg looks there when compiling. This is my problem - how do I tell ffmpeg explicitly where to look for extra libs? resize and imlib2 vhook in one command ?

hi, i would like to resize video and overlay with image. when i resize video, e.g. from 624x352 to 320x240, and use imlib2 vhook in one line, i get 320x240 video with small picture in the corner: ffmpeg -i infile.avi -cropright 52 -cropleft 52 -s 320x240 -aspect 1.333 -vhook './imlib2.so -x 0 -y 0 -i image.png' outfile.avi i know that options for imlib2 are -x -y for coordinates, and i would like to know how to use """ Expressions are functions of these variables: N frame number (starting at zero) H frame height W frame width h image height w image width X previous x coordinate of text or image Y previous y coordinate of text or image """ precisely, how do i tell to the image to keep the same size ? do i have to use two commands ? like in first command resize video, and in second use vhook ? thanks Co.De. --

Problem compiling FFMPEG with X264

Maintaining audio video sync while transcoding

Hi everyone, I'm trying to transcode video files in various formats and have run into a problem maintaining consistent audio video sync. As a specific example, I have a flash video with an mp3 audio track that I transcode as follows: ./ffmpeg -y -i $dir/flashMovie.flv -acodec copy $dir/in.mp3 ./ffmpeg -y -async 1 -sameq -i $dir/flashMovie.flv $dir/out.flv ./ffmpeg -y -i $dir/out.flv -acodec copy $dir/out.mp3 When I open in.mp3 and out.mp3 in Audacity, I can see that out.mp3 is shifted in time by about 25ms. I have noticed similar problems when converting to quicktime and using x264/aac. I'm also working with mjpeg, mpeg as well. If it matters, I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 and the latest (today's) checkout of ffmpeg. I don't pretend to fully understand what -async 1 does, but it seems like it might do what I want. However, it seems to have no effect. Note that I seem to get the same time shift when using ffmpeg to convert an mp3 by itself. This I can completely understand because of the nature of the mp3 codec and/or lame. However, I would assume there should be some way to preserve the sync when the mp3 is part of a video. What do I need to do to preserve the a/v sync between source and destination (either in the above example, or in the general case)? Thanks in advance for any hints or suggestions. I just got the latest code (yesterday) and typed ./configure Then I type make and I get this: make: *** virtual memory exhausted. Stop. I Googled this a bit but I didn't see anything I understood. Any ideas what to try? Pete

Intel Indeo 5 AVI's to .flv

Hello all, I am running a video upload and conversion site based on ffmpeg and its been working well up until recently where I noticed an increasing number if avi's failing to be converted to .flv's. Searching based on the errors produced has indicated that the .avi's were encoded with Intel Indeo 5 and ffmpeg only supports v 3 and hence my problem. As avi's are a common format, I'd imagine this problem must have been encountered by other ffmpeg users. Has anybody on the list managed to get around this version problem yet? Speed-Up?

Hello FFMPEG-Users, I hope this is the right place to ask this question about FFMPEG. Is there an option to speed up a movie??? I have found every option and function I need at FFMPEG but I was not able to find such function. I wanne convert 90 minutes running movies to for example something around 80 minutes running movies. The sound can be pitched up or maybe time shifted to keep the key at the same level. Both would be fine but if I could choose I would prefer to hold the key. Regards Herby
