So in my quest to beat FFMPEG into submission I present to you the following... The problem at hand is building a clip from a sequence of images from one directory (480x360 res) and then adding a post roll to that first sequence of images (all in one pass). I can't use an intermediate such as MPEG1, MPEG2 or DV because my source material is mono audio with 480x360 content. The result? IT WORKS... but looks like ass. Here is the ffmpeg command: ffmpeg -aspect 4:3 -vframes 179 -y -r 15 -i /home/551784089/%04d.jpg -i /home/551784089/out-final.wav -b 512kb -s 480x360 /home/551784089/1220382103_75629.mp4 And if you click here you'll visually see the issue. The non-postroll portion of the clip is fine. The colour and audio are perfect. However, the symlinked postroll images are grayscale and there is a huge blot which appears to be the colour table for the postroll that is offset to the right. When I look at the image on the server (that's the one on the RIGHT side in the image in the link below) the file looks fine. http://www.marelina.com/miscellaneous/corrupt.jpg I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at there. But as the postroll plays, it starts off really zoomed in and then zooms out fairly quickly in grayscale. That colour blotch stays in the exact same spot the entire time. Any insights would be welcome.

Anyway, rather than trying to track down exactly what was the problem (leave that to the developers), I replaced the contents of check_altivec.c with the following four lines of code: int has_altivec(void) { return 1; } This effectively says "my processor has an altivec" and ffmpeg compiles successfully on a G4 and G5. It also compiles successfully if you use the --disable-altivec flag for configure, but the result is a much slower version of ffmpeg. I hope that helps you get ffmpeg to compile. can ffmpeg convert to swf?

Hi guys, I'm trying to convert some videos to flash9 (AVM2) .swf format. I have the originals, so the source formats could be almost any (but swf, obviously) I'm using latest HEAD from SVN, compiled with: ./configure --enable-gpl --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libfaad --enable-libfaac --enable-libfaac --enable-muxer=swf I read on the changelog that ffmpeg now features a flash AVM2 'muxer', but I don't think I understand what a muxer is. I'm currently using a windows tool to convert them, but since this project is for educational and public funded research, I would like to use FLOSS tools exclusively. Google yields lots of results of privative windows software. x264 Encode Failure -- Problem Found

The crash may be a regression, but IIRC you have always had to specify rc_eq when using libx264 in ffmpeg, or suffer marked problems with your encode. When encoding using libx264 in ffmpeg you should always use the parameter: -rc_eq 'blurCplx^(1-qComp)' (use double quotes in win32) - unless there is good reason not to do so. This is because parts of ABR and CRF ratecontrol in x264 rely on this to be the rate control equation. Otherwise you might find strange things like every frame using the highest quantizer possible, or something like that. The reasons for needing to specify this all the time is a limitation of the way ffmpeg sets default values. The default value for rc_eq in ffmpeg is "tex^qComp" which is quite appropriate for ffmpeg's own MPEG1/2/4 encoder, but inappropriate for x264 because x264's rate control equation is relative to Q, not tex and is the inverse (decreasing tex is a bit like increasing Q). Unfortunately FFMPEG is not sophisticated enough to have a different default value based on which video codec you're using, so if you are using libx264 you always need to set -rc_eq manually. It is the same case with a few other values - the ffmpeg defaults being inappropriate or quite broken when using libx264 as a video codec. There are various online guides with recommended ffmpeg settings when using x264. Do a Google for "robert swain ffmpeg" for example.

Dear all, I have a digital TV set-top box which records TRP files (TS file with PAT/PMT stripped). Since the PAT/PMT is missed, I had difficulty extracting the subtitles. Without the PAT/PMT header, normally only video and audio stream is shown by ffmpeg. Even if all five streams is shown, the subtitles stream misrecognized as sound track. The format of subtitles is dvbsub. Later I found a method that appear to let ffmpeg recognize the subtitles. The method is to find a PAT/PMT header prepared by another someone else, and prepend it with the TRP file recorded. (Let say the PAT/PMT header file is PATPMT.ts, and the TRP file being data.trp, I used this command to generate a TS file, let say data.ts: cat PATPMT.ts data.trp > data.ts) Now I process the file data.ts with ffmpeg. It appears to be able to recognize all video/audio/subtitles streams at first, but during conversion, I caught "non monotone timestamp" error. Converting MPEG2-TS to MPEG2-PS

Hello, I want to convert MPEG2-TS files to MPEG2-PS files as lossless as possible, because many applications cannot handle MPEG2-TS files. Therefore I'm using the following command-line: ffmpeg -i infile.tod -vcodec copy -acodec copy -f vob outfile.mpg The infile is a tod-file generated by a JVC GZ-HD3 Camcorder. In the Internet one can find that tod-files are more or less MPEG2-TS-files. The tool MediaInfo shows the format BDAV. Using the above described command-line, one gets many of the following error messages: [vob @ 00B0AD84]packet too large, ignoring buffer limits to mux it [vob @ 00B0AD84]buffer underflow i=0 bufi=244964 size=246055 The same happens if one uses -f dvd or -f svcd instead of -f vob. Using -f mpegts no error occurs. But converting the resulting MPEG2-TS file in a MPEG2-PS file using the above command-line leads to the same errors. The resulting outfile seams to be the right format and everything seams to be OK (MediaInfo shows the right format and all applications which I have can handle the outfile without errors). Now my questions: 1) Is the command-line I'm using OK? 2) Can one avoid the error messages? (I have already unsuccsessfully tried to increase the buffersize) 3) Is the outfile with these error messages still OK? Best regards, Goetz

Issues while configuring ffmpeg on windows

Hi, I am using ffmpeg on windows. I have taken latest version from SVN.I want to enable libamr_nb support. I have tried the following command ./configure --extra-cflags="-mno-cygwin -mms-bitfields" --extra-ldflags="-Wl,--add-stdcall-alias" --enable-shared --disable-ffserver --disable-ffplay --enable-memalign-hack --enable-nonfree --enable-libamr-nb. I am getting the following error:- ERROR: libamrnb not found If you think configure made a mistake, make sure you are using the latest version from SVN. If the latest version fails, report the problem to the ffmpeg-user at mplayerhq.hu mailing list or IRC #ffmpeg on irc.freenode.net. Include the log file "config.err" produced by configure as this will help solving the problem. Can you help me out with this problem.
