-ss to cut parts of video

i am trying to cut a video into 5 minute parts using a batch script that i made. i have the batch script counting up in increments of 5. the problem is, when it gets to a time that does not exist (ex: minute 60 of a 30 minute video) ffmpeg just recuts the first 5 minutes of the video instead of failing. command: C:\Documents and Settings\kosta>c:\iffmpeg -i "f:\BIG\do SD\output\KOSTA_12min\vids\KOSTA_12min-sd169.mp4" -vcodec wmv2 -ss 00:%2:00 -t 00:05:00 -s 320x240 -b 450k -r 30 -acodec wmav2 -ab 50k -y output.

I am using the latest ffmpeg encoder* *version git-02518be aac @ 0x63c8c0]Audio object type 23 is not supported. Output #0, mp4, to '/home/tc/in/test.mp4': Stream #0.0(eng): Video: mpeg4, yuv420p, 1280x720 [PAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], q=2-31, 200 kb/s, 90k tbn, 25 tbc Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: aac, 0 channels, s16, 64 kb/s Stream mapping: Stream #0.1 -> #0.0 Stream #0.0 -> #0.1 * * The issue is when the internal aac decoder fails to decode, it does not failover to faad decoder which does a fine job of decoding. Is there a way I can force to use faad decoder? I have enabled libfaad while compiling ffmpeg library * *FFmpeg version git-02518be, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers built on Apr 9 2010 16:18:16 with gcc 4.3.2 configuration: --enable-libfaad --enable-libfaac --enable-libx264 .... Can't play RTMP stream with ffplay / ffmpeg

FFMPEG - Compilation issue

Hi I am having issues compiling FFMPEG on my linux host - and would like some help to troubleshoot the issue. Here are some background details. 1) O.S. : Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 4 (Nahant Update 3) 2) I downloaded the FFMPEG source from http://ffmpeg.org/download.html (the bzip2 file) 3) Ran the configure command with the following syntax: configure --enable-gpl --enable-nonfree --enable-pthreads --enable-libfaac --enable-libfaad --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libx264 4) When I run the above command, I get an error message "FAAD test failed". Attached is the config.err file that I was asked to publish to this mailing list. 'Appreciate any feedback you may have. Thanks Ramesh S

how to use -map

friends , I wish to chop to mpg 2 Large files into smaller files - and I am able to using -ss & -t But I also wish to do 1 thing more. sometimes I need to audio map channel 1 from the source file to channel 1 & 2 of the product file. I have read the documentation of -map -- but i have not 'gotten' it could someone provide an example fmpeg -i G:\cap\0045.mpg -ss 00:00:00:00 -t 00:00:04:12 -target ntsc-dvd -vcodec copy -acodec copy G:\product\0045-001.mpg so in the above how can I take audio chn 2 Only of G:\cap\0045.mpg to both 1 & 2 of G:\product\0045-001.mpg Thanks! j

Resampling

Hi, I recently learned, that the resampling quality in FFMPEG is not all that well which I described here: http://www.soundfields.dk/2010/04/10/careful-resampling-usin-ffmpeg/ Does anyone know whether it's possible to force FFMPEG to use a lowpass filter (when downsampling) of better quality?
