Transcoding H.265/MP4 RTSP stream to Copy/MPEGTS
by martinhering＠mac.com 10 Sep '10

10 Sep '10

Hi, I like to transcode an MP4 file I get via rtsp directly to an Mpeg-TS with video and audio streams copied. I can do this by first writing an mp4 to disk and transcode this mp4 to mpegts, but it is impossible to transcode from mp4-rtsp directory to an mpegts file. As far as I see it is that the bitstream converter 'h264_mp4toannexb' is not compatible with rtsp streams. Example: ./ffmpeg -i "rtsp://ondemand.quicktime.zdf.newmedia.nacamar.net/zdf/data/quicktime/zdf/1…" -vcodec copy -acodec copy -f mpegts -vbsf h264_mp4toannexb /test.ts gives the following result: FFmpeg version SVN-r22822, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers built on Apr 8 2010 13:29:07 with gcc 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5659) configuration: --disable-ffplay --disable-ffprobe --disable-ffserver libavutil 50.14. 0 / 50.14. 0 libavcodec 52.66. 0 / 52.66. 0 libavformat 52.61. 0 / 52.61. 0 libavdevice 52. 2. 0 / 52. 2. 0 libswscale 0.10. 0 / 0.10. 0 [NULL @ 0x101010000]non-existing PPS referenced Last message repeated 20 times [rtsp @ 0x10100b000]Estimating duration from bitrate, this may be inaccurate Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 90000.00 (90000/1) -> 25.00 (25/1) Input #0, rtsp, from 'rtsp://ondemand.quicktime.zdf.newmedia.nacamar.net/zdf/data/quicktime/zdf/1…': Metadata: title : /zdf/data/quicktime/zdf/10/04/100408_1210_hko_vh.mp4 Duration: 00:01:57.48, start: -815167444.-139000, bitrate: N/A Stream #0.0: Video: h264, yuv420p, 688x384, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 90k tbc Stream #0.1: Audio: aac, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16 File '/test.ts' already exists. MPEG Program Streams on iPhone
by tymek.majewski＠cubitech.co.uk 26 Jul '10

Hi, "HTTP Live Streaming draft-pantos-http-live-streaming-02" document at http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-pantos-http-live-streaming-02 implies that iPhone can play MPEG-2 Program Stream files. I tried to use ffmpeg.exe -i c:\h.264\videos\xxx.h264 c:\h.264\tests\yyy.vob and the result file can be played by VLC but not on the iPhone. Does anybody know how to prepare program streams so the iPhone will read them? Thanks Tymek

DVD for dummies
by adam＠the-adam.com 08 Jul '10

Hi guys, I know bits and pieces of my answer are all over the web and this mailing list, but maybe I can get some help for an FFMPEG novice. I have a bunch of video files, mostly AVI, but also some ASF, DIVX, MOV, MPEG, MP4, and WMV files as well, and I'd like to put them on a DVD to view with my general, consumer DVD player on my TV set. You know, so VIDEO1,AVI, VIDEO2.AVI, VIDEO3.AVI, and VIDEO4.AVI play on my television set that isn't hooked up to my computer network, or maybe for somebody else's DVD and TV. I found ways using packages on Linux (preferred) and Windows XP (a VMware system) to write a video DVD, but it comes out streaming all of the videos into one continuous stream. What I want is a menu to appear when I put the disk in my DVD with a list of videos so I can choose which one to see. I would love to have a command-line way so I can write a script. I think the technical term for a video in such a list is a "title." I would be even happier if I could have jump-ahead "chapters" every 20 or 30 seconds within each title. If Linux tools and command lines can do it, then I'd love a shell-script solution. If there's a GUI-only package, then how do I get the menu at disk startup? I liked Express Burn on Windows XP (in spite of its awful interface) but I can't get a menu mode to work. I figure I can't be the only one who would like to have this. Any ideas? Adam N. AC3 -> AAC 6-Channel Mapping Wrong for PS3
by gofish＠evilbill.org 07 Jul '10

07 Jul '10

Good Day, I am trying to convert 5.1 AC3 (with video) VOB to a PS3 compatible MP4 with surround sound. The PS3 does not support AC3 in the mp4 container so I am trying to use 6 channel AAC. It seems to almost work, but the channel mapping is incorrect (e.g. my center channel comes out the right speaker). Is there a way to map channels in ffmpeg that I'm missing? Is 6-channel encoding fixed in a later version? (I'm using an RPM from a 2009-10-26 SVN pull.) It is a lot of work to upgrade (make new RPMs) so if possible I would like to know ahead of time that it has been fixed. Has anyone else done this successfully? My command is basically: ffmpeg -y -i something.vob -acodec aac -ac 6 -ab 384k ...lots of video options... something.mp4 Thanks. --Bill FFmpeg version SVN-r20372, Copyright (c) 2000-2009 Fabrice Bellard, et al. built on Nov 7 2009 17:50:32 with gcc 4.4.2 20091027 (Red Hat 4.4.2-7) configuration: --prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/bin --datadir=/usr/share/ffmpeg --incdir=/usr/include/ffmpeg --libdir=/usr/lib --mandir=/usr/share/man --arch=i686 --extra-cflags='-O2 -g -pipe -Wall -Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -m32 -march=i686 -mtune=atom -fasynchronous-unwind-tables' --extra-version=rpmfusion --enable-bzlib --enable-libdc1394 --enable-libdirac --enable-libfaad --enable-libgsm --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libspeex --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid --enable-x11grab --enable-avfilter --enable-avfilter-lavf --enable-postproc --enable-pthreads --disable-static --enable-shared --enable-gpl --disable-debug --disable-stripping --shlibdir=/usr/lib --cpu=i686 --enable-runtime-cpudetect libavutil 50. 3. 0 / 50. 3. 0 libavcodec 52.37. 1 / 52.37. 1 libavformat 52.39. 2 / 52.39. 2 libavdevice 52. 2. 0 / 52. 2. 0 libavfilter 1. 4. 1 / 1. 4. 1 libswscale 0. 7. 1 / 0. 7. 1 libpostproc 51. 2. 0 / 51. 2. 0
