Hi, I'm trying to get the best video playback quality with ffplay.exe on Windows. I have found that switching to the video driver in SDL 1.2 to directx (set SDL_VIDEODRIVER=directx) gives a much better result. However, I'm testing on a system with two monitors. When I move the player window to the second monitor, the sound keeps playing but the video doesn't update until I move it back to monitor 1. Is there any way around this limitation? I tried the new experimental SDL 1.3 but didn't have much luck getting it to display anything correctly at all. Sometimes it will display the video at high speed, sometimes it displays nothing at all - sound plays OK. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Brian

ffplay.exe crashes

I have setup a build environment on Windows using MinGW, and successfully built FFmpeg for the first time. However, every time I try playing a video with ffplay.exe, it immediately crashes. Sometimes the sound plays while the exception message is shown, sometimes not. Happens for all videos I tried (flv and mp4). reduce size in file conversion

Hi i am trying to convert one wm video in to flv below is my command ffmpeg -i test.wm -vcodec libx264 -s 640x360 -flags +loop -cmp +chroma -deblockalpha 0 -deblockbeta 0 -crf 24 -bt 256k -refs 1 -coder 0 -subq 5 -partitions +parti4x4+parti8x8+partp8x8 -g 250 -keyint_min 25 -level 30 -qmin 10 -qmax 51 -trellis 2 -sc_threshold 40 -i_qfactor 0.71 -ab 96k -ar 44100 -ac 2 test.flv this command converts video but problem is that it increase the size of original file and i need a command which reduce the size of original file or at least same size and same quality.. quality and size at least same or good if it will less. please let me know what should i change my existing command

ffmpeg compiling error under windows

Hi, I have two ffmpeg code one i have taken from svn and other downloaded from ffmpeg website. For those who want their cores to produce at the max. -threads 0 on a typical h264 encode scores on AMD X2 @ 173.6% -threads 0 on a typical h264 encode scores on my AMD X4 @ 156.3% -threads 2 on a typical h264 encode scores on my AMD X4 @ 150.2% The 3rd and 4th core don't add anything usefull. According to top CPU load is ~ 160% If source permits, DVB-S in my case I split the source in 4 equal parts for 2 PC's with a X2, or my X4. The two X2's achieve a performance level of 331% The X4 achieves a performance level of 276% By adding -threads 0 to the command you'll achieve another boost of 10-15% because the equal parts won't always be equal simple/difficult to compress, low/high-motion. The first free core can then assist in processing the not yet finished task. The X2 combo achieves 379%, while the X4 rises to 195.6% Happy threading, Henk Schoneveld

Hi I am trying to compile ffmpeg code using msys + mingw when i compile the code with out any lib then it works fine like ./configure --enable-shared --enable-memalign-hack but when i run the command $ ./configure --enable-shared --enable-static --enable-memalign-hack --extra-ld flags=-L/local/lib/ --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libx264 --enable-gpl ERROR: libmp3lame not found Already i have installed lame how to likn this lib with ffmpeg code ?

Use of libfaac
