XDCAM HD 35

Does anybody knows can I transcode material to XDCAM HD 35 format with mxf wrapper and what is the exact command. I' ve seen the example for XDCAM HD 422 50 Mbit on the ffmbc site. ffmpeg -i <input_file> -pix_fmt yuv422p -vcodec mpeg2video -flags +ildct+ilme -top 1 -dc 10 -flags2 +ivlc+non_linear_q -qmin 1 -lmin '1*QP2LAMBDA' -vtag xd5c -rc_max_vbv_use 1 -rc_min_vbv_use 1 -b 50000k -minrate 50000k -maxrate 50000k -bufsize 36408333 -bf 2 -aspect 16:9 -acodec pcm_s16be -f mov output.mov -newaudio Is there equivalent to that command for XDCAM HD 35Mbit. iPhone Matrix Rotation Info
by ben.knight＠f-i.com 27 Sep '11

27 Sep '11

Hi. I am using ffmpeg to encode videos both uploaded from the web and from iPhones. Currently, we are rotating the iPhone videos with another script. This has worked great so far however we just launched a mobile version of our site and now videos that have been rotated 90 degrees won?t play on the iPhone. The videos that are rotated 270 degrees work fine. I am wondering if there is a way to encode the file with ffmpeg so that it keeps the rotation matrix information from the iPhone so that if I try to play it again on the iPhone it works? Thanks *Ben*

milliseconds to mpeg-ts pts/dts
by steuer＠unixsystems.de 07 Sep '11

guys, i try to create an mpegts file from H.264 and ACC raw frames that i receive from a network connection. I create AVPacket structures, set data, size, pts and dts etc. manually. For the stream that I receive, PTS and DTS seem to be equal, so I just calculate the packet pts and dts with incoming pts / 1000.0 * 90000.0 I do that for audio and video. Unfortunately that seems to be wrong as ffmpeg states "dts < pcr, TS is invalid" after a couple of seconds. I seems that the timestamps run out of sync with the internal pcr reference clock. What would be the correct way to calculate the pts and dts of the mpegts stream? Thanks alot for your help! Cheers, Heri

DNxHD / MOV: what is the extra data in stsd?
by Thomas Worth 22 Aug '11

22 Aug '11

I noticed that encoding a DNxHD encoded MOV with FFmpeg results in some extra data in the stsd atom for the video track. This data isn't there after encoding to other codecs, say Apple Animation/qtrle for example. At its most basic structure, stsd is 102 bytes, but with DNxHD material is is I think 275 bytes. Furthermore, this data is apparently needed to render the video correctly, because if I truncate stsd to 102, the resulting video is black in the QuickTime player (it still plays in VLC, though). This is some of what I'm seeing (as text): ACLRACLR0001 APRGAPRG0001 ARESARES0001 What is this data and what is referencing it? I have some additional stsd parameters I need to insert, but I don't know if putting stuff in before the "DNxHD extra data" (what we'll call it) will confuse whatever is looking for this extra data. Baptiste?

Hi. Any idea if FFMPEG supports / will be supporting adding hint tracks to MP4 files for RTSP streaming? Regards.

Using video card chipset to encode.
by drgkill＠gmail.com 10 Aug '11

Dear FFmpeg team, Your soft is really great, I use it every day, but with the announcement of Badabom from Nvidia, I was asking myself if FFmpeg will handle the GPU to encode videos. They are announcing (Nvidia, AMD) 2x real time encoding rates (for more details, codec, video size, etc, see : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C_Pj1Ep4nw) It's about 6 to 10 time faster than with my Xeon quad core. So I was wondering if FFmeg plan to implement that kind of code. Thanks by advance. Guillaume S.

Force first frame to be full, non blurred I frame
by Sergey Kurdakov 15 Jul '11

15 Jul '11

Hi, I develop silverlight application which can play h264 files which I produce with ffmpeg from recorded avi s, still, due to used underlying MediaElement ( which I would prefer not to force to move to some better pos for still image ) the first (still) frame shows blurry, I found that it is possible to set force_key_frames and I do following ffmpeg -i input.avi -an -vcodec libx264 -vpre veryslow -r 30 -b 400k -force_key_frames 0 -threads 0 OUTPUT.mp4 (actually two passes ffmpeg -i input.avi -an -pass 1 -vcodec libx264 -vpre veryslow_firstpass -r 30 -b 400k -force_key_frames 0 -threads 0 OUTPUT.mp4 ffmpeg -i input.avi -an -pass 2 -vcodec libx264 -vpre veryslow -r 30 -b 400k -force_key_frames 0 -threads 0 OUTPUT.mp4 ) but still I get blurry first frame (-force_key_frames -1 also does not give needed result ) , so the question is - which number (time) to set to -force_key_frames ( or set some other param ) so that first frame ( or first frames ) was non blurry I-frame ( otherwise video quality is excellent - but exactly the first frame is really blurry. Some hints - opening resulting video in avidemux shows that the first frame in sequence is B frame then followed by P frame and then 3rd frame is my first blurry I frame - though avidemux might be wrong, still it could indicate a problem that B frame affects what I get as resulting I frame). Regards Sergey

undefined reference to 'ff_find_pix_fmt'
by bryandonnovan＠gmail.com 13 Jul '11

building 0.6.9-rc0 for win32 with a configuration for writing FLV files... When libavformat links, it has an unresolved external 'ff_find_pix_fmt' ff_find_pix_fmt is defined in avcodec/raw.h and avcodec/rawdec.c however it does not appear in avcodec/avcodec-52.def So, my main question is -- what change must I make so that it DOES appear in the DEF file? My second question is the error "./configure: line 761: pkg-config: command not found" -- is this a problem? And if so, what can I do about it?
