Hello, Is it possible to retrieve MXF metadata with ffmpeg? Is there way to extract metadata from any format? I see that there is a -metadata flag but this only allows one to set metadata. Thanks

by ajaxhe 08 Aug '13

Now, I want to add the system datetime information in per video frame, then store as a .mp4 file. I have known drawtext.c can finish this task, but any example to use the APIs in drawtext.c? thanks! -- View this message in context: http://ffmpeg-users.933282.n4.nabble.com/How-to-the-use-drawtext-c-in-my-pr… Sent from the FFmpeg-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

pkg-config --static ?

Hello. I noticed that "by default" when I compile fontconfig as a static library, then enable it in ffmpeg with --enable-fontconfig, I get these: pkgconfig pkg-config --libs fontconfig which outputs: -L/home/rogerdpack/dev/ffmpeg-windows-build-helpers/builds/mingw-w64-i686/i686-w64-mingw32/lib -lfontconfig after consulting the fontconfig people, they suggest this work around: $ pkg-config --static --libs fontconfig which outputs this: -L/home/rogerdpack/dev/ffmpeg-windows-build-helpers/builds/mingw-w64-i686/i686-w64-mingw32/lib -lfontconfig -lexpat -lfreetype and works. So the question is, if it would be possible to call it like that instead somehow? Anyway just wondering. Thanks! -r

libx264 mp4 encoded video won't play back in chrome/quicktime
by Damon Edwards 28 Jul '13

The video won't load in the <video> tag, and played through quicktime I can only get the audio with a gray video. The input is an mp4, it gets spit into an image sequence, filters applied to the images, then recompiled into an mp4: $ffmpeg . ' -i ' . $image_dir . '/audio.mp3 -f image2 -r ' . $framerate . ' -i ' . $image_dir . '/%11d-' . $filter . '.jpg -vcodec libx264 -b ' . $bitrate . ' ' . $video_dir . $filename . '-' . $unique . '-' . $filter . '.mp4' output: [root@localhost html]# php filmstrip.php ffmpeg version N-40099-g2b336df Copyright (c) 2000-2012 the FFmpeg developers built on Apr 24 2012 14:15:49 with gcc 4.4.6 20110731 (Red Hat 4.4.6-3) configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libtheora --enable-libvo-aacenc --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libx264 --enable-version3 libavutil 51. 47.100 / 51. 47.100 libavcodec 54. 15.100 / 54. 15.100 libavformat 54. 3.100 / 54. 3.100 libavdevice 53. 4.100 / 53. 4.100 libavfilter 2. 72.100 / 2. 72.100 libswscale 2. 1.100 / 2. 1.100 libswresample 0. 11.100 / 0. 11.100 libpostproc 52. 0.100 / 52. 0.100 Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from '/var/www/html/video/switches.mp4': Metadata: major_brand : mp42 minor_version : 0 compatible_brands: isomavc1mp42 creation_time : 2007-08-26 06:33:35 Duration: 00:00:30.43, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 625 kb/s Stream #0:0(und): Audio: aac (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 44100 Hz, stereo, s16, 125 kb/s Metadata: creation_time : 2007-08-26 06:33:35 handler_name : (C) 2007 Google Inc. v06.24.2007. libavutil/common.h:173:47: error: ‘UINT64_C’ was not declared in this scope
by Anders Branderud 23 Jul '13

Hello! I get a problem when compiling, which I will describe below: I am using the latest Ubuntu--version in VirtualBox. I am running parts of the encoding-example avaiable in ffmpeg/doc/examples. When I run it I get the following error: In file included from /usr/local/include/libavutil/avutil.h:327:0, from /usr/local/include/libavutil/imgutils.h:30, from videofecencoder.cc:31: /usr/local/include/libavutil/common.h: In function ‘int32_t av_clipl_int32_c(int64_t)’: /usr/local/include/libavutil/common.h:173:47: error: ‘UINT64_C’ was not declared in this scope How is this resolved? iMovie created variable frame rates cause a/v sync problems
by jdrukman＠gmail.com 22 Jul '13

I have a file generated from Apple's "iMovie HD". It has a variable frame rate, according to mediainfo: Frame rate mode : Variable Frame rate : 29.402 fps Minimum frame rate : 0.303 fps Maximum frame rate : 29.970 fps Original frame rate : 29.970 fps I am trying to get ffmpeg to create a transcoded version suitable for web & iphone streaming, but the audio & video are out of sync. I used ffmpeg -i original.m4v -acodec copy -vcodec libx264 output.mp4 I also tried with -acodec libfaac. Same result. Oddly enough, mediainfo on the ffmpeg converted file shows the same frame rate information, but the soundtrack is clearly not in sync: Frame rate mode : Variable Frame rate : 29.402 fps Minimum frame rate : 0.303 fps Maximum frame rate : 29.970 fps Original frame rate : 29.970 fps Is there some simple command line option that I'm missing to keep the two in sync? I can provide the original file if needed. The current version of iMovie does not have the same problem because it outputs at constant frame rate by default. -jsd-

Frame rate and movies from images
by josh＠uncommonprojects.com 22 Jul '13

I am using ffmpeg to create movies from a directory of images. This is the command I use: ffmpeg -i imagedir/%05d.jpg -b 1800 video.mp4 This works great except that I want to be able to slow down the playback to say 6 frames per second. I tried this: ffmpeg -i imagedir/%05d.jpg -r 6 -b 1800 video.mp4 Which does playback at 6 frames per second, but what seems to be happening is that ffmpeg is also skipping frames. So if I have say 506 images in the images directory, the resulting movie uses only 123 frames. I can see where this something you might want, if you don't want the duration of the output movie to change with different frame rates, but is there a way to force it to use all the frames and extend the duration? I tried using the -vframes flag but it didn't seem to do anything: ffmpeg -i imagedir/%05d.jpg -r 6 -vframes 506 -b 1800 video.mp4 thanks, josh

change frame rate
by info＠danielerossi.net 22 Jul '13

22 Jul '13

> I would like to convert my video source, in lenght 07 min 40 sec frame rate 30 per second to a frame rate of 60 per second without adding new frames, that means the duration will be the half. I did try ffmpeg -r 30 -i input_mjpg.avi -r 60 -vcodec copy -an test.avi and does not change the frame rate. Can anybody suggest me the correct command line? thank you D

ffmpeg -f fbdev doesn't work with some fb drivers
by Xeslaro 12 Jul '13

12 Jul '13

i have a computer with video card ATI Radeon 9200, i've installed linux-3.2.6 on it and the radeonfb module could be loaded successfully, i could use mplayer -vo fbdev to watch movies, it works really well. however, when i wanna grab something using ffmpeg -f fbdev -i /dev/fb0, ffmpeg just complains that the pixel format couldn't be recognized. i used the exactly the ffmpeg binary running on anther computer with intel 945gm integrated graphics card, and ffmpeg -f fbdev -i /dev/fb0 just worked fine. are there some limitations in ffmpeg with framebuffer device? anyway to solve that problem? thanks. PS: i downloaded ffmpeg source from git several days ago and its version is 0.11.1.git
