Hello. I noticed that "by default" when I compile fontconfig as a static library, then enable it in ffmpeg with --enable-fontconfig, I get these: pkgconfig pkg-config --libs fontconfig which outputs: -L/home/rogerdpack/dev/ffmpeg-windows-build-helpers/builds/mingw-w64-i686/i686-w64-mingw32/lib -lfontconfig after consulting the fontconfig people, they suggest this work around: $ pkg-config --static --libs fontconfig which outputs this: -L/home/rogerdpack/dev/ffmpeg-windows-build-helpers/builds/mingw-w64-i686/i686-w64-mingw32/lib -lfontconfig -lexpat -lfreetype and works. So the question is, if it would be possible to call it like that instead somehow? Anyway just wondering. Thanks! -r

libx264 mp4 encoded video won't play back in chrome/quicktime

The video won't load in the <video> tag, and played through quicktime I can only get the audio with a gray video. Hello! I get a problem when compiling, which I will describe below: I am using the latest Ubuntu--version in VirtualBox. I am running parts of the encoding-example avaiable in ffmpeg/doc/examples. iMovie created variable frame rates cause a/v sync problems

I have a file generated from Apple's "iMovie HD". It has a variable frame rate, according to mediainfo: Frame rate mode : Variable Frame rate : 29.402 fps Minimum frame rate : 0.303 fps Maximum frame rate : 29.970 fps Original frame rate : 29.970 fps I am trying to get ffmpeg to create a transcoded version suitable for web & iphone streaming, but the audio & video are out of sync. I used ffmpeg -i original.m4v -acodec copy -vcodec libx264 output.mp4 I also tried with -acodec libfaac. Same result. Oddly enough, mediainfo on the ffmpeg converted file shows the same frame rate information, but the soundtrack is clearly not in sync: Frame rate mode : Variable Frame rate : 29.402 fps Minimum frame rate : 0.303 fps Maximum frame rate : 29.970 fps Original frame rate : 29.970 fps Is there some simple command line option that I'm missing to keep the two in sync? I can provide the original file if needed. The current version of iMovie does not have the same problem because it outputs at constant frame rate by default. -jsd-

Frame rate and movies from images

I am using ffmpeg to create movies from a directory of images. This is the command I use: ffmpeg -i imagedir/%05d.jpg -b 1800 video.mp4 This works great except that I want to be able to slow down the playback to say 6 frames per second. I tried this: ffmpeg -i imagedir/%05d.jpg -r 6 -b 1800 video.mp4 Which does playback at 6 frames per second, but what seems to be happening is that ffmpeg is also skipping frames. So if I have say 506 images in the images directory, the resulting movie uses only 123 frames. I can see where this something you might want, if you don't want the duration of the output movie to change with different frame rates, but is there a way to force it to use all the frames and extend the duration? I tried using the -vframes flag but it didn't seem to do anything: ffmpeg -i imagedir/%05d.jpg -r 6 -vframes 506 -b 1800 video.mp4 thanks, josh

ffmpeg -f fbdev doesn't work with some fb drivers

i have a computer with video card ATI Radeon 9200, i've installed linux-3.2.6 on it and the radeonfb module could be loaded successfully, i could use mplayer -vo fbdev to watch movies, it works really well. however, when i wanna grab something using ffmpeg -f fbdev -i /dev/fb0, ffmpeg just complains that the pixel format couldn't be recognized. i used the exactly the ffmpeg binary running on anther computer with intel 945gm integrated graphics card, and ffmpeg -f fbdev -i /dev/fb0 just worked fine. are there some limitations in ffmpeg with framebuffer device? anyway to solve that problem? thanks. PS: i downloaded ffmpeg source from git several days ago and its version is 0.11.1.git

Hi, when trying to encode from a .mov with MPEG-4 video and PCM audio into .mp4 with MPEG-4 video and AAC audio I get: [avi @ 0x956cda0]st:0 error, non monotone timestamps 1028 >= 102889.9kbits/s av_interleaved_write_frame(): Operation not permitted I tried to demux and then mux them: Demux: ffmpeg -i 'Infile.mov' -vn -acodec libfaac -ab 320k -ar 48000 -ac 2 'Outfile.aac' and ffmpeg -i 'Infile.mov' -vcodec copy -an 'Outfilet.m2v' Mux: ffmpeg -i 'Outfile.m2v' -i 'Outfile.aac' -vcodec copy -acodec copy 'Final.mp4' While I finally got the audio to convert this way, the resulting Final.mp4 was out of sync. I tried to do a normal encode: ffmpeg -i 'Infile.mov' -vcodec copy -acodec libfaac -ab 320k -ar 48000 -ac 2 'Outfile.mp4' Which lead to my "error, non monotone timestamps" problem.

Transcoding for the Roku with recent ffmpeg

I'm having trouble transcoding into h264 with recent (1.0) ffmpeg. Older versions (0.8?) did fine using this command line: ffmpeg -i input.vob -acodec libfaac -ab 128k -vcodec libx264 -vpre normal -s 854x480 -crf 22 -threads 0 -f mp4 output.mp4 the newer versions fail with: Undefined constant or missing '(' in 'wpred' [NULL @ 0x177ca80] Unable to parse option value "wpred+dct8x8+fastpskip+mbtree" [NULL @ 0x177ca80] Error setting option flags2 to value +wpred+dct8x8+fastpskip+mbtree. Based on the little bit of research I did, I should replace -vpre normal with something like -vcodec libx264 -c:v libx264 -preset fast -profile:v baseline which results in this command line: ffmpeg -i input.vob -acodec libfaac -ab 128k -vcodec libx264 -c:v libx264 -preset fast -profile:v baseline -s 854x480 -crf 22 -threads 0 -f mp4 output.mp4 the video transcodes fine, but will not play on the Roku. It plays about 30 seconds, then stops and the Roku starts buffering indefinitely. It also shows lower quality connection, and my apache logs fill up with: (104)Connection reset by peer: core_output_filter: writing data to the network Indicating that the Roku is resetting the connection. Anyone transcoding for the Roku? Any suggestions?
