Hello. I am returning this issue back via the actual mailing list, since posting via nabble.com doesn't seem to work right. There seems to be a disagreement between FFmpeg and VirtualDub of what uncompressed bgr24 raw avi really is. I can tell this already by looking at file sizes that they produce from the same video but PSNR & other metrics tell me they're definitely not the same video. I have done extensive testing on different videos with ffmpeg and so I decided to set this test up for you guys to figure out what is going south on bgr24 raw avi's. All example video files are accessible at http://videotimo.fi/ffmpeg/ TEST PHASE 1: We start with a raw original avi that has been built from PNG frames with VirtualDub (sintel_raw_original.avi). We make a rawvideo -pix_fmt bgr24 copy of it with ffmpeg to find out that even when there should be no difference between input and output, the files are not the same in size. Still, something is done very differently on all bgr24 raw avi decodes because I still have to run all the raw avi decodes through VirtualDub after ffmpeg before feeding the test videos to the PSNR calculator. Additionally, Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 doesn't seem to understand the raw avi produced by ffmpeg at all. Anybody had any similar incidents? Anybody that can clarify any of this? What am I doing wrong?

Output file empty when processing mp4 - Invalid data found when processing input

Hi Folks, I'm trying to resize an mp4 file using ffmpeg, but the output file comes out empty. I see the following messages just before the command finishes: Truncating packet of size 103333 to 101557 time=00:00:06.10 bitrate= 585.7kbits/s [h264 @ 0x20646aa0] AVC: nal size 103329 Last message repeated 1 times [h264 @ 0x20646aa0] no frame! [mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2 @ 0x1ff19240] stream 0, offset 0x200ed8: partial file /data/sftp/video/temp/video_promo/764556_4_p.mp4: Invalid data found when processing input Any pointers on how to track down what's causing this? You can see the full output of the command below, followed by the output of ffprobe. The only alterations are a few pieces of sensitive data that I've removed which shouldn't have any bearing on diagnosing the issue. IVTC with pullup filter

I have a source video that's 29.97 with 3:2 pulldown, and I want to encode it at 23.98p. This ffmpeg command produces video at 23.98, but with a pattern of 2 progressive frames followed by 2 interlaced frames. ffmpeg -ss 208 -i NCIS.ts -t 30 -vf "pullup,fps=24000/1001" -acodec copy -vcodec libx264 pullup.mkv On the other hand, I can achieve perfect results with this simple AviSynth script: MPEG2Source("NCIS.d2v", cpu=0) TFM().TDecimate() Trim(5000,5300) Since AviSynth isn't doing any deinterlacing, I don't think I should need to add yadif in ffmpeg. How can I make the pullup filter work correctly?

Use build_libstagefright in ffmpeg to build file .so for android

DVCPRO50 PAL decoding oddity - light line in top row

hey all. first up please spare the flames as i'm not a regular newsgroup user and have come very late to this kind of forum. i've been following ffmpeg git rather religiously - following github on my RSS reader etc. hence i'm running the current git version. anyway, i have what appears to be a long standing decode bug with dvvideo. as DVCPRO50 is not commonly used, it's no surprise. depending on possibly brightness and complexity of the top row of macroblocks, i get a sort of horizontal line. it's only the top row, but it's quite visible in the right conditions. i can upload a sample if need be - i was hoping to be able to generate a lightweight file that demonstrates this, but artificial signals haven't reproduced this issue so i just clipped a bit out of a master file. may the copyright gods forgive me... i also have x264 proxies that reflect the problem - one encoded out of premiere pro, showing how it should look, and one encoded straight from the DVCPRO50 source that shows the problem. i've read the bug submitting advice, however any command line will reproduce this so long as it has dv5p as a source. thanks! -sal

Brighten dark video before reducing size?

Hello Using a basic Sony camcorder, I recorded a two-hour conference whose picture is a bit dark. I tried applying a filter in AviDemux and saving the file, but for some reason, there's no sound when played in VLC :-/ Before trying other NLE applications (VirtualDub, Sony Vegas, etc.), I was wondering if ffmpeg could apply some filters before further reducing the filesize? FWIW... 1. here's what the original file looks like: Stream #0:0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg2video (Main), yuv420p, 720x576 [SAR 64:45 DAR 16:9], 25 fps, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc Stream #0:1[0x80]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5.1(side), s16, 448 kb/s 2. Using the following command, ffmpeg reduces the original 9GB to 340MB: ffmpeg -i input.mpg -c:v libx264 -vf scale=iw/2:-1 -preset faster -c:a ac3 -ab 192k output.mp4 Thank you.

A/V sync issues & more with MediaPortal recording of ClearQAM

To give a little bit of background this is my setup: MediaPortal 1.6.0 (Win 7) with HDHomeRun Dual (ClearQAM) I've recorded TSes from this setup that worked perfectly using FFMPEG with the follow command: "ffmpeg.exe -i FILE.ts -vcodec libxvid -vtag XVID -vf scale=720:480 -aspect 4:3 -maxrate 1200k -b:v 981k -qmin 3 -qmax 5 -bufsize 4096 -deinterlace -acodec libmp3lame -b:a 128k -ac 2 -async 1 OUT.avi" On every recording I've gotten so far this method has worked like a charm. Yet on channel seems to have some sort of strange "MPEGin" going on. ffmpeg reports the following streams: [mpeg2video @ 024b9900] Invalid frame dimensions 0x0. Also it seems during the commericals the video size is not staying the same. Like the programming is 704:480 yet commericals can go like 540:X and other random sizes. VLC can play the file fine also changing sizes during commericals but ffmpeg seems to lose A/V sync the more times it hits a commerical break.

Hello I'm having difficouties install ffmpeg with x11grab, I get the following error: ERROR: X11 not found it:ffmpeg admin$ ./configure --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-nonfree --enable-postproc --enable-pthreads --enable-libfaa c --enable-libfaac --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libtheora --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid --enable-x11grab --enable-libvorbis ERROR: X11 not found If you think configure made a mistake, make sure you are using the latest version from Git. If the latest version fails, report the problem to the ffmpeg-user(a)ffmpeg.org mailing list or IRC #ffmpeg on irc.freenode.net. I've specified not only -sn, as you suggest, but also -an as a test to keep the audio streams from interfering. ffmpeg accepts this command line but, unfortunately, it's crashing with an illegal instruction error and generates only an empty output file. chapter mark on MP4: ffmpeg produces it in which flavour?

The documents says adding chapter marks is as simple as applying metadata file: http://www.ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-formats.html#Metadata The document however wasn't specific to .mp4 format (the part specific about .mp4 is about segments, which doesn't look like chapter to me). Wikipedia says .mp4 has two kinds of chapter-marks: Quote from wikipedia: > 1) In specially formatted text track (QuickTime); 2) In userdata atom > (started by Nero Digital) can't interact with the sceneDescription, or via > segmentDescriptor So it seems the chapter mark in .mp4 is not standardized. The question is: if I load a custom metadata file with chapters in it, using metadata muxer and output a .mp4 file, what do I get? 1. I get the .mp4 file like that would be produced with QuickTime 2. I get the .mp4 file like that would be produced with Nero Digital And more interesting would be: what kind of chapter marks are supported natively by Android/iOS, since which version? A serious content producer would want to measure it to tailer the file he produces. Thanks!
