Any way to get better use of the cpu?

Hello. I'm attempting to decode and "re encode" live TV. I noticed that when I attempt to transcode say, 6 streams at a time, ffmpeg seems to end up using "at most" 50% of the cpu available on the given box. The basic syntax I'm using is ffmpeg -i input.ts -map 0:p:1344 1344.mp4 -map 0:p:1345 1345.mp4 -map 0:p:1346 1346.mp4 So multiple outputs that come from different parts of the same input (it's not a file, its a live TS capture in this particular case). I've noticed that the speed indicator ends up, in my instance, saying something like frame= 696 fps= 16 q=-1.0 Lq=-1.0 q=-1.0 q=-1.0 q=-1.0 q=-1.0 q=-1.0 size=N/A time=00:00:27.84 bitrate=N/A dup=217 drop=0 speed=0.645x (full command line and somewhat cleaned up console output: https://gist.github.com/rdp/51448985bfa48a1f72a2 ) However, if I look at cpu utilization, it hovers right around 50% consistently (two cores out of 4 basically), regardless of "-threads" setting applied. I'm able to capture the incoming stream "fast enough" (for instance, if I only transocde a few substreams, everything comes in fine, speed keeps up), and if I test "decode only" (all streams), it handles it fine speed=3.5x. Is there any tricks to get more cpu "utilization" here or is this more of something to be implemented in a google summer of code or what not (assuming some speedup is possible)? Streaming (over UDP or RTP) MPEG-TS with multiple scrambled video

Hi, I am trying to stream over UDP or RTP a .ts file that I recorded to run some tests on a test&measure equipment and I can't find a way to do it when the file contains scrambled video. Is there a way to do it? I do something like: ffmpeg -re -i myfile_.ts -vcodec copy -acodec copy -f mpegts udp://host:port or without the -re. Any suggestion would be appreciated. MTS to MOV with different audio codec

Hi, I have a problem with converting .mts to .mov with copying video codec. Recorded video is AVCHD which cannot be open with audio track in Davinci Resolve, so i tried to converd for .mov and .avi with copying video codec. Everything looks ok untill i open converted file .avi works with 50i while .mov cannot play 50i, intead it's just 25p. Hello everyone!!! I'm doing some R&D about using ffmpeg in a transcoding script, and I got stuck in a serious problem. I must, let's say, transcode a video that has CEA708 Closed Caption embed on it, I tried to search the Web for some info on how to deal with it using ffmpeg, since it complains about the stream that contains about it's data... Stream #0:9: Data: none Metadata: file_package_umid: 0x060A2B340101010501010D1213B165F558BC5F0403750583B992C8BCC8F4C0BF file_package_name: Source Package data_type : vbi_vanc_smpte_436M Data stream encoding not supported yet (only streamcopy) I tried to do -map 0:9 with -c:d copy and it just corrupts the file badly... Issues with sliced video

Hello, We are using ffmpeg in one of our applications for slicing a video. The slicing part is working fine but the data rate, video & audio bit rates are decreasing in the sliced output video. Following is the command we are using for slicing: ffmpeg.exe -i inputVideo.mp4 -ss StartTime -t StopTime -async 1 -strict -2 -y OutputVideo.mp4 Pls advise how to resolve this issue. Hello All, FFMPEG noob here (feel free to roll eyes) and I could use some help. Here is what I am trying to do: I would like to take the RTSP stream from 1 or 2 of my IP cameras and use ffmpeg to re stream it in mjpeg format. I use a web app for my home automation controller and would like to have the feed from the front door camera show up in the interface. Unfortunately the app will only display a http/mjpeg stream. Here is what I came up with but its not working yet. ffmpeg -i "rtsp://un:pw@192.168.1.55:554/Streaming/channels/301" http://localhost:8090/feed.ffm Here is my config file (but I dont think it uses it with that command above). I also tried putting some commands in the config as well and launching it that way. Hello, I have the following requirement: 1. Linux box with connected HDMI IN cable. The HDMI OUT is connected to another PC which retransmits its display state (also my linux box is like a 2nd external display) 2. I need to take this HDMI stream with ffmpeg and push it as RTP or RTMP stream with command like: ffmpeg -i MY_HDMI_IN -f flv rtmp://nginx/mystream <rtmp://nginx/mystream> I could not find in the ffmpeg documentation the appropriate input source for HDMI.
