ffmpeg with x264 codec - Aspect ratio doesn't follow input

Hi list, I have a number of MPEG2 TS DVB recordings that have aspect ratio changes - e.g. older films or 4:3 programmes that have 16:9 continuity, trailers, adverts etc. I want to transcode to H264 using ffmpeg (3.02), but the output aspect ratio does not follow the source when using the H264 codec. But the aspect ratio does follow when using the xvid/mp4 codec. I need x264 not mp4. The problem is that (I think) the container DAR or SAR stays at 16:9 all the way through but the stream SAR or DAR doesn't follow the source for whatever reason Is there a way to make x264 output follow the source aspect ratio at the stream level ? Failing example : ffmpeg -y -i 00001.ts -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -map 0:3 -c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -profile:v high -level 4.0 -crf 20 -flags +loop -flags +ilme -vf yadif=0:-1:0 -c:a:0 aac -b:a:0 128k -c:s copy -f mpegts file-1.ts (same if I take out the profile and deinterlace settings) Working example (but large file and not so good quality, even if I could use it): ffmpeg -y -i 00001.ts -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -map 0:3 -c:v libxvid -q:v 3 -c:a:0 aac -b:a:0 128k -c:s copy -f mpegts file-1.ts If I add -vf setdar=dar=4/3, I can force the x264 version to be 4/3 but then all parts of the recording are always 4/3 which is also wrong. Behaviour is the same on VLC player, ffplay, and Kodi. Appreciate any pointers Thanks Richard

Can FFMPEG output as a directshow device viewable by other windows applications ?

I am grabbing an interlace video signal (1080i) with a video capture card compatible Directshow (Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4k). The video signal is then picked up by a machine vision software. The interlace signal is causing problems. I would like to use FFMPEG to deinterlace the signal on the fly and output as a directshow stream that can be pickup by the machine vision software (like if it was a webcam). Is this possible ? how to combine 2x stereo.wav to 1x stereo.wav while changing the panorama?

Hi, I have two different .wav files with different durations. File a: english narration on channel 1, effects on channel 2 File b: french narration on channel 1, original sound on channel 2 The result should be one stereo.wav file: english narration and effects mixed together to the left channel french narration and original sound mixed together to the right channel I only know how to do one part: ffmpeg -i engl_fx.wav -af pan=stereo:c0=c0+c1 engl.wav How could I do all in one step, regardless of the duration of the files? Hi everyone, i'm new to the ffmpeg community, but I'm trying to implement a c-application that uses the ffmpeg libraries (ffmpeg 3.0) in order to print out qp, mb_type and dct_coeff for each MB/frame. As far as I know, those info are available from CLI, using -debug flag, indeed I used that flag for an H.262 video stream. My main problem is to extract dct_coeffs, from an H.264 stream, during the decoding process. In this mailing-list I found out an old post, that suggested to look for the h264_cabac.c file and the decode_cabac_residual_internal() function and consequently the ff_h264_decode_mb_cabac(). Unfortunately I was not able to find a solution to my problem. Is there a variable in H264Context or AVCodecContext (or somewhere else) that stores the residual values for each frame? In order to further clarify my request, I would like to obtain, after the entropy decoder process, the dequantized residuals or idct residuals, if they are stored. Thanks

Hi, I use the following command to convert one mp4 file into one m3u8 file and several segment ts files: ffmpeg -y -i sourceFile.mp4 -vbsf h264_mp4toannexb -strict -3 -c:v copy -c:a copy -f hls -hls_time 10 output.m3u8 ts file name format is output name+segment number+.ts. The RTSP is a live stream so stopping every 5 minute is really not acceptable. In the ffmpeg log I can't see any noticeable error except "No more output streams to write to, finishing." near the end. Can someone shed some light upon this? How can I make ffmpeg run without stopping? Thanks Eason

Hi, In some rare case, when there are huge AV transcoding tasks, disk will become full if old files are not deleted immediately. Then those running transcoding tasks may not work correctly. In general transcoding application, av_interleaved_write_frame() and av_read_frame() are used to write out av packets and make media files, such as mp4, flv, and mkv. Can the two functions or other ffmpeg functions detect the disk status and report error when disk is full? And how to know via ffmpeg lib whether disk is full or not? Thanks! B.R. Andrew

stream mapping seems to work, but doesn't

I've got a bunch of VOB's I want to concatenate. For most of the VOB's stream 0:0 is video and 0:1 audio, but for one VOB te streams are switched, so concat doesn't work. conversion mp4 -> ts gives error: non-existing SPS 0 referenced in buffering period

I am trying to concatenate several mp4 files together, but conversion from mp4 to ts is producing a file with errors, and subsequent concatenation attempts produce an erroneous output file as well. Here is what I'm using for conversion: ffmpeg -v warning -y -i seq2.mp4 -c copy -bsf:v h264_mp4toannexb -f mpegts seq2.ts (no error message, seems to work fine) But the resulting .ts file gives error when I try to play it, or even just ffprobe it, like so: ffprobe -v warning -select_streams v -show_streams seq2.ts [h264 @ 0x3a9e160] non-existing SPS 0 referenced in buffering period Last message repeated 1 times [h264 @ 0x3a9f9a0] non-existing SPS 0 referenced in buffering period [STREAM] .... more output here [/STREAM] Could somebody please advise?
