Blending two inputs with custom expression

Let's assume A is a video, and B is a png image with alpha channel. I need to do the following blending (assuming the format is rgba and B_alpha is in 0...1 range): red = (A_red - B_red * B_alpha) / (1 - B_alpha); green = (A_green - B_green * B_alpha) / (1 - B_alpha); blue = (A_blue - B_blue * B_alpha) / (1 - B_alpha); I was looking into "blend" filter, but it seems I can't access the other channels data. The "geq" filter is limited to a single source. What shall I use it that case? I really hate the idea of digging into ffmpeg sources and writing my own filter. Is there any chance to do this kind of blending without that?

The efficacy of speed up a .ts file

Hi ffmpeg members, Recently, I have a job to make a speed up mp4 file, and I'm lack of video knowledge, so I suffer some issue, below is the command I used: [1] trim ts file ffmpeg -ss 2 -i input.ts -t 5 -vcodec copy -acodec copy output.ts [2] merge ts file ffmpeg -i concat:input1.ts|input2.ts|inputN.ts -y -c copy -bsf:a aac_adtstoasc output.mp4 [3] speed up 2x and output a mp4 file ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -y -filter:v fps=30, setpts=0.5*PTS -an output.mp4 The issue are below: 1. I use JAVA to call the ffmpeg command, and the command [3] is too slow, I run my code in AWS EC2(c3.xlarge) and input a 6min30sec .mp4 video, the process time about 250 sec, do I have some idea to speed up the process time? - I change input and output to .ts file, [3] just cost 1/6 time which compare to output .mp4 file, but the output quality is down(although they are the same pixel rate 1280x720), is this cause by speed up .ts file will lose I frame? - I try to add "-preset ultrafast" , the process time will become about 40 sec, but we think this still too slow, do you have some idea to improve this? 2. When ffmpeg is running, the CPU rate is too high. my server(4 core) just run one [3] command, the CPU rate almost 250-300%, how can I optimize the cost? - I try to use "-threads 1", the CPU rate down to 90-100%, but the process time is slower. Feeding FFMPEG from buffer in c code RAW H264 to MP4 wrapping, or named fifo?

i have a raw h264 stream coming in from cameras with a custom API. data gets put into a callback function in my c code. i need to wrap this as mp4. i'm using ffmpeg to do this now, but only after the h264es file has been written and closed, so very time consuming on a beaglebone-like processor. i have been trying to write this data to a named pipe and feed that to ffmpeg but can not get this to work. maybe i'm not opening/closing pipes properly, it hangs. or not specifying the piping properly for ffmpeg. is it possible to feed the buffered data more directly to ffmpeg? or, how do i set up the named pipe to work properly? first i'm opening the fifo like this g_fifoname="/tmp/fifocam1.h264"; mkfifo(g_fifoname, 0666); // make the fifos fd_fifo[ch+brd*2] = open(g_fifoname, O_RDWR); then, i'm calling ffmpeg like this, at this moment anyway. trying many things. char* execargs[]={PATH_TO_FFMPEG,"-re","-y","-framerate","30","-f","h264","-video_size","1920x1080","-i",g_fifname,"-c:v","copy","-an",pathname, (char*)0}; i probably got the ffmpeg call wrong. argh. i open the fifo first, then start ffmpeg. when streaming is stopped i close fifo's, then close ffmpeg output file. ffmpeg is so powerful and frustrating to wrangle. thanks all,

Video and audio desync when recording screen

Hello I am trying to record my screen on Xubuntu 16.04.2. While I can record both video and audio, on some software the video and audio are out of sync. When watching the video in VLC, the audio and the video are in sync, but when editing with Kdenlive or uploading directly the video to YouTube, audio and video get out of sync. I am using a script to do this recording. On the output of the terminal, it can be seen that the start of pulse stream is 1494455796.589364, while the x11grab stream starts at 1494455796.988299. Can this be why video and audio are out of sync on Kdenlive and YouTube? If yes, is there a way to make the streams start at the same time? Thank you.

differences between -vf and -filter_complex

Hi ffmpeg-user, In some cases I've been using -vf and -filter_complex interchangeability but notice that some behavior is unexpectedly different. For instance if I use format=yuv422p10le within -vf and within -filter_complex the output is different. Is there something else I should add to the filterchain to get consistent results. Below is the output of: ffmpeg -f lavfi -i testsrc2=r=1:d=5 -vf format=yuv422p10le -f framemd5 - and ffmpeg -f lavfi -i testsrc2=r=1:d=5 -filter_complex format=yuv422p10le -f framemd5 - The output framemd5 do not match and there is not minor differences in the pixel values. Is this expected? Any recommendations to get the same result when using format=yuv422p10le in both -vf and -filter_complex? No video only audio in the output file

Hi All, I am new to FFMPEG trying to convert video to mp4 format along with watermarking and creating thumbnail images from video. When executing below command thumbnail images are created but the output mp4 file has only audio in it. If I remove the watermarking command it creates thumbnail image and video file correctly or if I remove thumbnail creation option it creates video with watermarking. ffmpeg: gif to video conversion does not keep gif time delay between frames.

Hi, I am using ffmpeg to convert the attached gif to a video file. My command is: ffmpeg -f gif -i test.gif -pix_fmt yuv420p -c:v libx264 -f mp4 out1.mp4 to simplify the command: ffmpeg -f gif -i test.gif -f mp4 out2.mp4 The input gif has variable frame delays: Frame 1 - no delay Frame 2 - 1 sec Frame 3 - 2 sec Frame 4 - 4 sec The generated video file does not maintain these time delay between the frames. rip subtitle to sub file

Hello there, I'm trying to rip the English subtitles to a single sub file, but it does not work. Subtitles synced to timecode

Hey. I’ve been working my brain to figure out this, googling for hours. Hopefully there’s some clever heads in here, that can help me. So, my problem is, that i need to burn in timecode to a movie file. Easy peasy: ffmpeg -loglevel verbose -i <inputfile> -c:v libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p -profile:v high -level 5.0 -b:v 8000k -filter_complex "[0:0] subtitles=‘<subtitlefile>' [vOut]" -map "[vOut]" -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ac 2 -y -strict -2 <output> And this works great, as long as the movie and .srt file are synced with start TC 00:00:00:00. However, I have a clip, whose timescode starts at 14:15:34:20, and subtitles are not burned in to this one, even tough the srt file are synced to that timecode. (First subtitle is at 14:15:35). How do i make ffmpeg understand, that it needs to use the timecode from the clip, to sync the subtitles, and not a timecode starting at 00:00:00:00? Hope someone can help. Thanks! Kasper
