Hello, I am new to linux / video / ffplay. I am trying to follow instructions here: http://billauer.co.il/blog/2017/03/linux-dvb-israel-digital-tv-2/ I am using a Raspberry Pi / Raspbian Jessie. The Raspbian/Debian binary package build has renamed ffplay to avplay. avplay -version avplay version 11.9-6:11.9-1~deb8u1+rpi1, Copyright (c) 2003-2017 the Libav developers built on Apr 26 2017 06:57:28 with gcc 4.9.2 (Raspbian 4.9.2-10) avplay 11.9-6:11.9-1~deb8u1+rpi1 libavutil 54. 3. 0 / 54. 3. 0 libavcodec 56. 1. 0 / 56. 1. 0 libavformat 56. 1. 0 / 56. 1. 0 libavdevice 55. 0. 0 / 55. 0. 0 libavfilter 5. 0. 0 / 5. 0. 0 libavresample 2. 1. 0 / 2. 1. 0 libswscale 3. 0. 0 / 3. 0. 0 I have been able to use dvbv5-scan to create a channels.conf file, and I can use dvbv5-zap to lock onto a channel. dvbv5-zap '7Mate Brisbane' -r > zap.log 2>&1 zap.log is attached. Something is wrong when I try to play the stream using avplay (ffplay), but I don’t know how to find the problem. Here’s what command I’m using: avplay -x 680 -y 480 -f mpegts /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 > ffplay.log 2>&1 ffplay.log is attached. I also tried: $ cat /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 > this and in parallel $ ffplay this But it gives the same result. Could anyone assist? James.

Export raw (binary) subtitle data

Certainly looks like it. I'd like to export these subtitles using ffmpeg, then "render" them (i.e., reverse engineer the format, then make something human-readable of them) and then re-integrate into the videostream. That way, I could later define what I want to see (or even render multiple different subtitle streams which would be pretty cool). Adding metadata tags to wav files

Hi. I successfully add metadata tags (album, artist, title, genre...) to mp3 files using ffmpeg: $ ffmpeg -i input.mp3 -c copy -metadata title="Yesterday" output.mp3 . When I try to do the same with wav format, the tags are then properly shown by ffmpeg itself, but they aren't by common media players. Has anyone ever experimented that? Thanks, Rodolfo

MSE Implementation Using ffmpeg

I am trying to implement the MSE[1] API for a project. This is a JavaScript API that is being backed by C++ code. The basic idea is to create a buffer that is appended opaque (from JS perspective) data that should be decoded and rendered in a <video> element. I would like to use ffmpeg (specifically libavformat) to handle demuxing of the content. I intend to use other methods to handle decoding frames. [1]: https://w3c.github.io/media-source/ The end goal being to use ffmpeg to give us a bunch of demuxed frames. It is fine if these are out of order, we can handle reordering frames. We need to pass media segments in arbitrary order and turn that into demuxed frames that define buffered ranges of playable regions. When we try to play into a region that is not buffered, we will pause the video, waiting for more data. I tried using a custom AVIOContext with a custom read callback to read data from the appended buffers. This is able to demux frames so long as the segments appear in order. If I try to give a segment from the past, there are errors. First, the "current segment" doesn't get updated when adding segments to the index; this has a simple fix. The other problem is that we have no way to see the new frames or to even know if the frames exist. We could use the AVStream::index_entries to find frames we have already demuxed and to use seeks to get the frames that we have not received yet; however, since we don't want to store the original data for long, seeking will be hard to implement. This also seems like using internals and I would prefer a more helpful API. First, if there is a better way to do this, I would love to hear it. If not, we would like a way to have ffmpeg demux frames in file order, rather than in DTS order. The goal being to just use the MP4 parser to pull out frames, not to play the resulting frames directly. I would suggest adding a flag that would allow av_read_frame to output frames in the order they appear in the files. This would probably disable seeking since there is no way to predict where to seek to. Or maybe a different function that would act like av_read_frame which would return in file order. I would be happy to implement this (since I will probably need to do this in a fork anyway). I am wondering if there is a better way to do it now and whether a feature like this would be accepted. Resuming ffmpeg encode after interrupt

When the encoding takes a very long time (> 2 hours), I often will stop it (^z), syn the FS, suspend the computer to disk (s2d), and that will power it off. Now /SOMETIMES/ when I resume, the computer decides to boot as if it was NOT suspended to disk. This leaves the ffmpeg encode partially done. So, instead of restarting from the very beginning, is there a way to resume the encode based on the size of the output file? I mean that ffmpeg should be able to know the time offset of the very last frame encoded. Is this true? If true, then ffmpeg should be able to continue from the source video file by starting at the frame (based on the frame's time offset) that follows the last frame encoded. I am not an audio video guru. I am just thinking out loud to try to clarify my question. Thanx for any help in this.

Blue Ray Question

Hello All, I know there are tools out there for this question but I'm hoping FFmpeg can handle things. I have an old blue ray that I would like to shrink. The only problem is when I open the BR in File Explorer there is no way of knowing which files are the main movie and what order those files are supposed to be in. Can FFmpeg or a tool of FFmpeg help in determining the answer? What is the main movie files and what order should they be in? Thanks, -Ron

Create thumbnails from RTMP stream

If I use Flash Media Live Encoder to send a stream to an RTMP server, and then, on that server, run the below command, I can create thumbnails from the stream. Ability Cutting Multi Sections at Once (with -ss and -to)

Hello, I want to extracting multi segments of a video/audio, not only one time intervals. But FFmpeg's -ss and -to switches can't support many timecodes once. 00:01:30-00:02:12 00:04:48-00:05:27 00:09:02-00:09:55 How can I combine these times remux file with ffmpeg all at once? I wish the following commands worked. Restream RTSP to HLS using ffmpeg and ffserver

Hello all, I am now trying to re-stream RTSP live stream to HLS, so that I can play it on my webpage. The path will be: VLC(read local .mp4 file and stream it using RTSP) —> ffmpge(re-stream it to HLS and send it to ffserver) —> ffserver (boardcast the stream to Internet) —> my webpage (play the stream) I can use the following command to re-stream RTSP to HLS and save to a local file. How can I change the command and configure ffserver so that I can play it on my webpage(using URL)? “ffmpeg -i rtsp://my-ip-address:8554/stream.ts -fflags flush_packets -max_delay 1 -an -flags -global_header -hls_time 1 -hls_list_size 3 -hls_wrap 3 -vcodec copy -y /var/video.m3u8” Thanks, Chen Xu
