Which format and vcodec to use for watching live Streaming in Android Mobile
by Abhisek Techie 02 Nov '18

Hi, I am trying to watch live feeds from remote camera through android mobile by connecting to ffserver . I have tried using 3GP and MP4 containers , *but for both I am getting "muxer does not support non seekable output" .* *I would like to know which format should I use for watching live feeds in mobile* . I did a web search and found that MP4 and 3GP formats are most widely used but using these formats give me error . Below are few more details for your reference : 1.Command used by me to post the live feeds to ffserver - ffmpeg -f v4l2 -r 25 -s 320*240 -i /dev/video0 -b:v 215k http://myserverip:port/feed1.ffm 2.ffserver feed and stream details <Feed feed1.ffm> File /tmp/feed1.ffm FileMaxSize 20M </Feed> <Stream Live.h264> Feed feed1.ffm Format 3gp VideoCodec libx264 VideoFrameRate 25 VideoBitRate 215 VideoQMin 1 VideoQMax 5 VideoSize 320*240 VideoIntraOnly NoAudio PreRoll 0 </Stream>

filters zoompan and crop
by S Andreason 01 Nov '18

01 Nov '18

Hi, Does zoompan not work outside the range 1 .. 8? I want to generate an overlay to zoom in, have the input png start small, and grow to half the video size, like from 20 to 320 in width. Starting the zoompan at z=0.1 does not seem to work. Also if the first filter was successful, I need to crop it so that it grows over time. I am having trouble getting crop to adjust based on the frame number. From my testing it seems n in this case starts at 0 when the enable between starts, instead of the output video frame number like the other filters I have been using. Is there a manual or wiki with more information then at https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-filters.html ? Thank you $ ffmpeg -loglevel verbose -i 20181025_SHS_RBP3000-freezerOFF-2filters-zoom.png -i 20181024_RBP3000-1212_measuring-GS-filters-h640x360e.mp4 -c:v h264 -filter_complex "[0]zoompan=z='if(lte(on,157),0.1,min(zoom+0.033,1))':d=180:fps=30 [0z]; [0z]crop=w='if(lte(n,0),32,n/23*320)':h='if(lte(n,0),23,n/23*234)' [0zc]; [1][0zc]overlay=x='495-((n-156)*175/24)':y='256-((n-156)*126/24)':enable='between(t,5.2,6)'" -s 640x360 -c:a copy testzoompan.mp4 ffmpeg version 3.2.12-1~deb9u1 Copyright (c) 2000-2018 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 6.3.0 (Debian 6.3.0-18+deb9u1) 20170516 configuration: --prefix=/usr --extra-version='1~deb9u1' --toolchain=hardened --libdir=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu --incdir=/usr/include/i386-linux-gnu --enable-gpl --disable-stripping --enable-avresample --enable-avisynth --enable-gnutls --enable-ladspa --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libbs2b --enable-libcaca --enable-libcdio --enable-libebur128 --enable-libflite --enable-libfontconfig --enable-libfreetype --enable-libfribidi --enable-libgme --enable-libgsm --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopenmpt --enable-libopus --enable-libpulse --enable-librubberband --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libssh --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx265 --enable-libxvid --enable-libzmq --enable-libzvbi --enable-omx --enable-openal --enable-opengl --enable-sdl2 --enable-libdc1394 --enable-libiec61883 --enable-chromaprint --enable-frei0r --enable-libopencv --enable-libx264 --enable-shared libavutil 55. 34.101 / 55. 34.101 libavcodec 57. 64.101 / 57. 64.101 libavformat 57. 56.101 / 57. 56.101 libavdevice 57. 1.100 / 57. 1.100 libavfilter 6. 65.100 / 6. 65.100 libavresample 3. 1. 0 / 3. 1. 0 libswscale 4. 2.100 / 4. 2.100 libswresample 2. 3.100 / 2. 3.100 libpostproc 54. 1.100 / 54. 1.100 Input #0, png_pipe, from '20181025_SHS_RBP3000-freezerOFF-2filters-zoom.png': Duration: N/A, bitrate: N/A Stream #0:0: Video: png, 1 reference frame, pal8(pc), 320x234, 25 tbr, 25 tbn, 25 tbc [h264 @ 0x184d0e0] Reinit context to 640x368, pix_fmt: yuv420p Input #1, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from '20181024_RBP3000-1212_measuring-GS-filters-h640x360e.mp4': Metadata: major_brand : isom minor_version : 512 compatible_brands: isomiso2avc1mp41 encoder : Lavf57.56.101 Duration: 00:00:50.02, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 827 kb/s Stream #1:0(und): Video: h264 (High), 1 reference frame (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p(left), 640x360 (640x368), 562 kb/s, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 30k tbn, 59.94 tbc (default) Metadata: handler_name : VideoHandler Stream #1:1(eng): Audio: aac (LC) (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 255 kb/s (default) Metadata: handler_name : SoundHandler Matched encoder 'libx264' for codec 'h264'. frame rate:24 or 24000/1001 for native movies
by sean darcy 01 Nov '18

01 Nov '18

I've got a bunch of soft-telecined dvds. I'm trying to get them back to native format, 24fps. ffmpeg -i input.vob -r [??????] output.mp4 All these vobs were originally theater movies, not TV productions. Therefore I assume they were all shot at 24 fps, that is 24000/1000. But all the examples I see have -r 24000/1001 , ~23.97. I can't imagine this will make any visual difference but I'm puzzled. These vobs were shot at 24 fps, so shouldn't inverse telecine be: ffmpeg -i in.vob -r 24 out.mp4 ?

Storing scan-type/interlaced in MXF?
by Peter B. 31 Oct '18

Hi everyone :) When trying to store an interlaced J2K-lossless in MXF, ffmpeg recognizes the "top field first" given, but the resulting file claims to be progressive :( ------------------------------ FFmpeg encoding says: "Stream #0:0: Video: jpeg2000 (libopenjpeg), yuv422p10le(top first), 720x576 [SAR 1:1 DAR 5:4], q=2-31, 200 kb/s, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbn, 29.97 tbc" FFprobe check says: "Stream #0:0: Video: jpeg2000, yuv422p10le(progressive), 720x576, 29.97 tbr, 29.97 tbn, 29.97 tbc" ------------------------------ If anyone could tell me how to make the result "behave" properly, I'd be very grateful :D Thanks in advance, Peter B. The initial output after starting ffmpeg looks like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\ffmpeg>ffmpeg.exe -i " http://7dcdn.ivideo.sina.com.cn/7d.ivideo.sina.com.cn/app/record/subIndex/l…" -c copy "outputtest.mp4" ffmpeg version N-92308-g32d021cfa6 Copyright (c) 2000-2018 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 8.2.1 (GCC) 20181017 configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-sdl2 --enable-fontconfig --enable-gnutls --enable-iconv --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libfreetype --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --enable-libxml2 --enable-libzimg --enable-lzma --enable-zlib --enable-gmp --enable-libvidstab --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvo-amrwbenc --enable-libmysofa --enable-libspeex --enable-libxvid --enable-libaom --enable-libmfx --enable-amf --enable-ffnvcodec --enable-cuvid --enable-d3d11va --enable-nvenc --enable-nvdec --enable-dxva2 --enable-avisynth libavutil 56. 21.100 / 56. 21.100 libavcodec 58. 34.100 / 58. 34.100 libavformat 58. 19.102 / 58. 19.102 libavdevice 58. 4.106 / 58. 4.106 libavfilter 7. 38.100 / 7. 38.100 libswscale 5. 2.100 / 5. 2.100 libswresample 3. 2.100 / 3. 2.100 libpostproc 55. 2.100 / 55. 2.100 [hls,applehttp @ 00000197a76da700] Opening ' http://7dcdn.ivideo.sina.com.cn/mtv.ivideo.sina.com.cn/live/24864_sd/148065…' for reading [hls,applehttp @ 00000197a76da700] Opening ' http://7dcdn.ivideo.sina.com.cn/mtv.ivideo.sina.com.cn/live/24864_sd/148065…' for reading Input #0, hls,applehttp, from ' http://7dcdn.ivideo.sina.com.cn/7d.ivideo.sina.com.cn/app/record/subIndex/l… ': Duration: N/A, start: 2221.550000, bitrate: N/A Program 0 Metadata: variant_bitrate : 0 Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (High) ([27][0][0][0] / 0x001B), yuv420p, 960x540 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 25 fps, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc Metadata: variant_bitrate : 0 Stream #0:1: Audio: aac (HE-AACv2) ([15][0][0][0] / 0x000F), 44100 Hz, stereo, fltp Metadata: variant_bitrate : 0 Result: The resulting video file is 45 minutes long, but if you look at the video via the website (http://video.sina.com.cn/l/p/1713429.html) you can see that it is ~7 hours long. Problems with concat demuxer
by Gabriele Greco 31 Oct '18

I have some problems with concat demuxer when the input files has audio encoded as "pcm_bluray", the output file ends up with a "bin_data" stream that ffmpeg itself does not recognise. (I used master version updated just before writing this e-mail) Here is what I get when I clone this MTS file (that can be recognised without problems by ffmpeg and played by VLC and by my avcodec based player): ~/projects/ffmpeg-head/ffprobe 00003.MTS ffprobe version N-92313-g4a6d5f3cad Copyright (c) 2007-2018 the FFmpeg developers built with Apple LLVM version 9.1.0 (clang-902.0.39.2) configuration: --disable-videotoolbox --disable-audiotoolbox --enable-libx264 --enable-libfdk-aac --enable-nonfree --enable-gpl libavutil 56. 21.100 / 56. 21.100 libavcodec 58. 34.100 / 58. 34.100 libavformat 58. 19.102 / 58. 19.102 libavdevice 58. 4.106 / 58. 4.106 libavfilter 7. 38.100 / 7. 38.100 libswscale 5. 2.100 / 5. 2.100 libswresample 3. 2.100 / 3. 2.100 libpostproc 55. 2.100 / 55. 2.100 Input #0, mpegts, from '00003.MTS': Duration: 00:00:31.24, start: 2857.885000, bitrate: 23766 kb/s Program 1 Stream #0:0[0x1011]: Video: h264 (High) (HDMV / 0x564D4448), yuv420p(top first), 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 25 fps, 50 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc Stream #0:1[0x1100]: Audio: pcm_bluray (HDMV / 0x564D4448), 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 1536 kb/s cp 00003.MTS 00004.MTS cat inputs.txt file '00003.MTS' file '00004.MTS' ~/projects/ffmpeg-head/ffmpeg -y -f concat -i inputs.txt -c copy test.mts ffmpeg version N-92313-g4a6d5f3cad Copyright (c) 2000-2018 the FFmpeg developers built with Apple LLVM version 9.1.0 (clang-902.0.39.2) configuration: --disable-videotoolbox --disable-audiotoolbox --enable-libx264 --enable-libfdk-aac --enable-nonfree --enable-gpl libavutil 56. 21.100 / 56. 21.100 libavcodec 58. 34.100 / 58. 34.100 libavformat 58. 19.102 / 58. 19.102 libavdevice 58. 4.106 / 58. 4.106 libavfilter 7. 38.100 / 7. 38.100 libswscale 5. 2.100 / 5. 2.100 libswresample 3. 2.100 / 3. 2.100 libpostproc 55. 2.100 / 55. 2.100 Input #0, concat, from 'inputs.txt': Duration: N/A, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1536 kb/s Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (High) (HDMV / 0x564D4448), yuv420p(top first), 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 25 fps, 50 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc Stream #0:1: Audio: pcm_bluray (HDMV / 0x564D4448), 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 1536 kb/s Output #0, mpegts, to 'test.mts': Metadata: encoder : Lavf58.19.102 Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (High) (HDMV / 0x564D4448), yuv420p(top first), 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], q=2-31, 25 fps, 50 tbr, 90k tbn, 90k tbc Stream #0:1: Audio: pcm_bluray (HDMV / 0x564D4448), 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 1536 kb/s Stream mapping: Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy) Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (copy) Press [q] to stop, [?] for help frame= 3120 fps=0.0 q=-1.0 Lsize= 185228kB time=00:01:02.46 bitrate=24291.8kbits/s speed= 69x video:159515kB audio:11762kB subtitle:0kB other streams:0kB global headers:0kB muxing overhead: 8.144928% ~/projects/ffmpeg-head/ffprobe test.mts ffprobe version N-92313-g4a6d5f3cad Copyright (c) 2007-2018 the FFmpeg developers built with Apple LLVM version 9.1.0 (clang-902.0.39.2) configuration: --disable-videotoolbox --disable-audiotoolbox --enable-libx264 --enable-libfdk-aac --enable-nonfree --enable-gpl libavutil 56. 21.100 / 56. 21.100 libavcodec 58. 34.100 / 58. 34.100 libavformat 58. 19.102 / 58. 19.102 libavdevice 58. 4.106 / 58. 4.106 libavfilter 7. 38.100 / 7. 38.100 libswscale 5. 2.100 / 5. 2.100 libswresample 3. 2.100 / 3. 2.100 libpostproc 55. 2.100 / 55. 2.100 Input #0, mpegts, from 'test.mts': Duration: 00:01:02.47, start: 1.405000, bitrate: 24289 kb/s Program 1 Metadata: service_name : Service01 service_provider: FFmpeg Stream #0:0[0x100]: Video: h264 (High) ([27][0][0][0] / 0x001B), yuv420p(top first), 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 25 fps, 50 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc Stream #0:1[0x101]: Data: bin_data ([6][0][0][0] / 0x0006) Unsupported codec with id 100359 for input stream 1 -- Bye, Gabry

Multiple feeds to one ffserver and each feed accessed by a particular user
by Abhisek Techie 31 Oct '18

31 Oct '18

Hi, Is there a way to configure ffserver so,that I can have multiple cameras send live feeds to one ffserver and each feed is accessed by only a particular user and not by others. And is there a way to add new feeds on the fly without restarting ffserver,because if i restart, the users for already configured stream will lose live streaming. Any suggestions? Regards

Framerate issues
by Calvin Arndt 30 Oct '18

30 Oct '18

It is clearly apparent to me I don't understand something going on here! I clearly select an output framerate of 7fps. My camera's set to limit each connection to 7fps (and I have verified it is doing so). The camera I am using is a high end AXIS quite capable of 60fps. Resultant videos are the full 3600 seconds, but they play in 900 seconds! Verified via time time stamp on the images and vlc's playtime. Why is fps=2.0? Totally not what I selected, nor what is provided by camera. Why is drop=1320. The machine doing this is quite capable of the full framerate. What am I missing? Thanks in advance ffmpeg -i http://192.168.2.1:9080/mjpg/video.mjpg -r 7 -t 3600 recording.avi ffmpeg version 2.8.15-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 Copyright (c) 2000-2018 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 5.4.0 (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.10) 20160609 configuration: --prefix=/usr --extra-version=0ubuntu0.16.04.1 --build-suffix=-ffmpeg --toolchain=hardened --libdir=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu --incdir=/usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu --cc=cc --cxx=g++ --enable-gpl --enable-shared --disable-stripping --disable-decoder=libopenjpeg --disable-decoder=libschroedinger --enable-avresample --enable-avisynth --enable-gnutls --enable-ladspa --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libbs2b --enable-libcaca --enable-libcdio --enable-libflite --enable-libfontconfig --enable-libfreetype --enable-libfribidi --enable-libgme --enable-libgsm --enable-libmodplug --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-libpulse --enable-librtmp --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libssh --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx265 --enable-libxvid --enable-libzvbi --enable-openal --enable-opengl --enable-x11grab --enable-libdc1394 --enable-libiec61883 --enable-libzmq --enable-frei0r --enable-libx264 --enable-libopencv libavutil 54. 31.100 / 54. 31.100 libavcodec 56. 60.100 / 56. 60.100 libavformat 56. 40.101 / 56. 40.101 libavdevice 56. 4.100 / 56. 4.100 libavfilter 5. 40.101 / 5. 40.101 libavresample 2. 1. 0 / 2. 1. 0 libswscale 3. 1.101 / 3. 1.101 libswresample 1. 2.101 / 1. 2.101 libpostproc 53. 3.100 / 53. 3.100 [mjpeg @ 0x11cd0e0] ignoring invalid SAR: 10/11 [mjpeg @ 0x11cd0e0] Changeing bps to 8 Input #0, mjpeg, from 'http://192.168.2.1:9080/mjpg/video.mjpg': Duration: N/A, bitrate: N/A Stream #0:0: Video: mjpeg, yuvj420p(pc, bt470bg/unknown/unknown), 720x480, 25 tbr, 1200k tbn, 25 tbc [swscaler @ 0x1216b40] deprecated pixel format used, make sure you did set range correctly Output #0, avi, to 'recording.avi': Metadata: ISFT : Lavf56.40.101 Stream #0:0: Video: mpeg4 (FMP4 / 0x34504D46), yuv420p, 720x480, q=2-31, 200 kb/s, 7 fps, 7 tbn, 7 tbc Metadata: encoder : Lavc56.60.100 mpeg4 Stream mapping: Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (mjpeg (native) -> mpeg4 (native)) Press [q] to stop, [?] for help frame= 515 fps=2.0 q=20.7 Lsize= 2069kB time=00:01:13.57 bitrate= 230.3kbits/s dup=0 drop=1320 video:2051kB audio:0kB subtitle:0kB other streams:0kB global headers:0kB muxing overhead: 0.871691% -- Calvin -- Calvin Arndt (217) 377-2979 carndt(a)macksrecycling.com

by Abhijit Nathwani 30 Oct '18

30 Oct '18

Hi, I have a byte buffer of video data and I want to directly use that as 'input' to stream the data. Is it possible to do so? If so, how? Sample command: ffmpeg -framerate 10 -i c:\Stream\img%03d.jpg -f flv rtmp://<server> I need to replace the .jpg input with byte bufer[]. Regards, Abhijit Nathwani

Re: [FFmpeg-user] ffmpeg generate the video from non-sequential images
by Ayush Narsaria 30 Oct '18

Hello all, I am quite new to ffmpeg so still learning many things for creating a video animation for my chemistry project. I have multiple “res-%d.png” files but when I try to use ffmpeg to generate a video it starts from a random .png file. My png files are numbered from res-5.png to res-180.png. The command I give is : ffmpeg -framerate 5 -pattern_type glob -i '*.png' -c:v libx264 output.mp4 Please help! Thank you Best, Ayush Narsaria PhD Student VU University, Amsterdam
