FFMpeg encoding error: "height not divisible by 2" - Recommended dimesion 1680 x ??? with aspect 16:9
by Ben 22 Oct '18

22 Oct '18

I wanted to encode (and resize) an existing MP4 file into a new MP4 video and a width of 1680 * ... and an aspect ratio of 16:9 The used codec is H.264 Since the calculated height therefore is (1680/16)*9=945 I entered this for the ffmpeg command and got an error: "height not divisible by 2" Hmm, can this really be? What is the recommended height otherwise? Is there no auto-adjustment in ffmpeg? Ben

How to take perfect screenshots of UHD/HEVC vídeos?
by Kleber Duarte 21 Oct '18

21 Oct '18

Hi, could someone give a tip to improve the quality of screenshots taken from UHD HEVC files of seedbox running rtorrent/rutorrent installed on Ubuntu Server Armhf 16.04 "Xenial Xerus" (32bits) OS? Many screenshots are shown without any image definition. I don´t have problem with the screenshots of FHD videos. I don´t know if is necessary any adjust in the lines codes of plugins, or if exist a best way to take screenshots through the terminal SSH? I verified that the problem occur with .m2ts UHD files. I tested the screenshot plugin with .mkv UHD files and I didn´t have problems. I am running the screenshot plugin from rutorrent gui. So, I don´t have any command or log. $ ffmpeg -version ffmpeg version 2.8.6-1ubuntu2 Copyright (c) 2000-2016 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 5.3.1 (Ubuntu/Linaro 5.3.1-11ubuntu1) 20160311 configuration: --prefix=/usr --extra-version=1ubuntu2 --build-suffix=-ffmpeg --toolchain=hardened --libdir=/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf --incdir=/usr/include/arm-linux-gnueabihf --cc=cc --cxx=g++ --enable-gpl --enable-shared --disable-stripping --disable-decoder=libopenjpeg --disable-decoder=libschroedinger --enable-avresample --enable-avisynth --enable-gnutls --enable-ladspa --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libbs2b --enable-libcaca --enable-libcdio --enable-libflite --enable-libfontconfig --enable-libfreetype --enable-libfribidi --enable-libgme --enable-libgsm --enable-libmodplug --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-libpulse --enable-librtmp --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libssh --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx265 --enable-libxvid --enable-libzvbi --enable-openal --enable-opengl --enable-x11grab --enable-libdc1394 --enable-libiec61883 --enable-libzmq --enable-frei0r --enable-libx264 --enable-libopencv libavutil 54. 31.100 / 54. 31.100 libavcodec 56. 60.100 / 56. 60.100 libavformat 56. 40.101 / 56. 40.101 libavdevice 56. 4.100 / 56. 4.100 libavfilter 5. 40.101 / 5. 40.101 libavresample 2. 1. 0 / 2. 1. 0 libswscale 3. 1.101 / 3. 1.101 libswresample 1. 2.101 / 1. 2.101 libpostproc 53. 3.100 / 53. 3.100 [cid:447a8209-bbdc-4ea6-af6f-03a8f590da73] [cid:46e34f24-9531-4703-9358-66d538380508]

Bash Script for Batch Converting Audio in MKVs to FLAC
by Joshua Blagden 21 Oct '18

21 Oct '18

Hi Folks, I have a number of videos on my hard drive that I've copied from Blu-Rays. They'll play on my Roku, but the sound doesn't work, so I have to change the audio track from DTS to FLAC. I've been doing this manually for a while, but I'd really like a one-line bash script so I can avoid the tedium and time-intensive activity of converting these one-by-one or having to spend a half hour just writing FFMPEG commands. Here's an example of one of those commands: ffmpeg -i '01x12 - The Flax.mkv' -c:v copy -c:s copy -c:a flac '01x12 - The Flax(flac).mkv' I just want to convert the audio track to FLAC and then add "(flac) to the file name so I can hang onto the originals temporarily to make sure everything went well or that I didn't miss some other conversion I had to do. Thanks in advance, Josh Blagden

Closed Captions in EIA-607 are broken
by W Boba 19 Oct '18

19 Oct '18

Hi, Can anybody confirm: is it a bug or it is something I'm doing wrong? When I try to re-encode some MPEG2 TS files into h.264/mp4 using libx264 for encoder, embedded closed captions are not properly passed through to output file. It looks to me like CCs are doubled for some reason. command: "ffmpeg.exe -y -v 99 -loglevel 99 -i sample-1min.ts -c:a aac -c:v libx264 sample-1min.mp4" Original CCs (got them with CCextractor tool) look like this: 1 00:00:01,751 --> 00:00:03,469 Yup, so you just want a nice layer. 2 00:00:03,536 --> 00:00:04,670 That's good there. 3 00:00:04,721 --> 00:00:06,305 Potatoes are ready. 4 00:00:06,372 --> 00:00:08,090 This gets covered in your famous pot crack? While extracted from MP4 file after re-encoding - they look like this: 1 00:00:01,234 --> 00:00:03,034 So we'e're makaking B.C. h h? 2 00:00:03,036 --> 00:00:04,703 YuYup, so you u just want a nice layerer. 3 00:00:04,871 --> 00:00:06,004 That''s goodod there. 4 00:00:06,105 --> 00:00:07,672 Potatoes a are ready.. Tools: CCextractor: https://www.ccextractor.org/ FFmpeg: https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win64/static/ffmpeg-20181018-f72b990-win6… Source and output files, along with the FFmpeg debug log (240MB!) can be downloaded from: http://64.137.230.232/cc-distortion.zip

by Rad J 19 Oct '18

I'm getting lot's of errors while streaming and YouTube is complaining about the frames and format, how can I adjust those? [image: image.png] https://www.screencast.com/t/Jdr7TdkL5 https://www.screencast.com/t/xrDfuJGtsT I have also changed the resolution to 1080p and it looks nice now: 4 Streams to 1 YouTube channel: ffmpeg -rtsp_transport tcp -i "rtsp://xxx:xxxx@10.1.10.125:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0" -i "rtsp://xxx:xxxx@10.1.10.125:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=2&subtype=0" -i "rtsp://xxx:xxxx@10.1.10.125:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=3&subtype=0" -i "rtsp://xxx:xxxx@10.1.10.125:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=4&subtype=0" -f lavfi -i anullsrc -filter_complex " [0:v] setpts=PTS-STARTPTS, scale=1920x1080,setsar=1[upperleft]; [1:v] setpts=PTS-STARTPTS, scale=1920x1080,setsar=1[upperright]; [2:v] setpts=PTS-STARTPTS, scale=1920x1080,setsar=1[bottomleft]; [3:v] setpts=PTS-STARTPTS, scale=1920x1080,setsar=1[bottomright]; [upperleft][upperright]hstack[topbase]; [bottomleft][bottomright]hstack[bottombase]; [topbase][bottombase]vstack[base]" -map [base] -map 4 -f flv rtmp://x.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/xxxx:xxxx-xxxx:xxxx I would prefer to to use one stream as that's better quality however how can I do it to one YouTube channel? I tried doing the Event thing and I have added 4 cams to that, but it does not work.... [image: image.png] Any assistance is appreciated! Thanks, Rad

Performance Tuning for Raspberry Pi
by Bruce Diesel 19 Oct '18

19 Oct '18

Hi All, Please forgive my somewhat basic question, but my searching has not yielded much information that I can easily understand as I don't have much knowledge in this space. I am building a dash cam type application using a Raspberry Pi Zero, some sensors, and a Pi Camera. I am burning data from the sensors onto video using drawtext from a memory file that a separate python program is continuously updating atomically. I am really struggling to get reasonable performance. I get around 6 frames/second at HD quality. I am not running X Windows, and not displaying the video, just capturing it. Using an ffmpeg command line such as: ffmpeg -i /dev/video0 -vf drawtext="....." test.mpg Inside the drawtext I am setting the font, centering the text and giving it the filename to read. I have very limited understanding of the pros/cons of different codecs etc so I am looking for a source of information that can help me through this without me having to become an expert in the subject. Once thing I can do is stream to a memory file, but that introduces complexities like file management, memory limitations etc. Any pointers to a good source of information on this would be most appreciated. Bruce

I have some vob's where the language tracks aren't consistent. That is Stream 0:2 is sometimes English , sometimes not. But [0x80] is always English with these vobs. VOB A: Stream #0:0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg2video (Main), yuv420p(tv, smpte170m, progressive), 720x480 [SAR 8:9 DAR 4:3], Closed Captions, 29.97 fps, 59.94 tbr, 90k tbn, 59.94 tbc Stream #0:1[0x82]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 192 kb/s Stream #0:2[0x80]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 192 kb/s VOB B Stream #0:0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg2video (Main), yuv420p(tv, smpte170m, progressive), 720x480 [SAR 8:9 DAR 4:3], Closed Captions, 29.97 fps, 59.94 tbr, 90k tbn, 59.94 tbc Stream #0:1[0x20]: Subtitle: dvd_subtitle Stream #0:2[0x21]: Subtitle: dvd_subtitle Stream #0:3[0x82]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 192 kb/s Stream #0:4[0x80]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 192 kb/s First of all, what's the name for the [0xXX] identifiers ? And is there a way to use those identifiers to select a stream? This does not work: -map a:[0x80] Thanks for any help.
