Convertion of Png image into yuv420p format codec mpeg2video.
by shivkumar munugala 18 Oct '18

18 Oct '18

Hi , I am using below command to convert png into yuv420p Command : ffmpeg -async 1 -i *boot_up_1.png* -vcodec mpeg2video -r 25 -pix_fmt yuv420p -minrate 50000k -maxrate 50000k -b 50000k -intra -ps 1000M -qmin 1 -qmax 3 -top 1 -bufsize 2000000 -an output_iframetest_7_test.m2v input file: * boot_up_1.png* output file: *output_iframetest_7_test.m2v* Problem: Lower file size image less than 10Kb, when converted using above command it's giving higher file size than input. Higher file size image more than 414kb, when converted, output file size in less. Question: Why this behaviour? . Either it should increase the output file size or reduce, why both behaviour? Warm regards, Shivkumar Munugala

Wrong "profile-level-id" on RTP SDP after transmux from RTMP
by Quentin RENARD 18 Oct '18

18 Oct '18

Hey guys, First off I'm using ffmpeg's master branch. Here's the workflow I'm doing: Input -- (1) --> RTMP -- (2) --> RTP Here are my commands: 1) ffmpeg -hide_banner -re -f lavfi -i "testsrc2=size=1280x720:rate=25" -pix_fmt yuv420p -c:v libx264 -g 50 -keyint_min 50 -b:v 4M -tune zerolatency -profile:v baseline -level:v 3.1 -preset veryfast -bf 0 -refs 3 -sc_threshold 0 -f flv rtmp://127.0.0.1/test 2) ffmpeg -hide_banner -i rtmp://127.0.0.1/test -c copy -f rtp rtp:// 127.0.0.1:4002 The 2nd command outputs the following SDP: v=0 o=- 0 0 IN IP4 127.0.0.1 s=No Name c=IN IP4 127.0.0.1 t=0 0 a=tool:libavformat 58.19.100 m=video 4002 RTP/AVP 96 b=AS:3999 a=rtpmap:96 H264/90000 a=fmtp:96 packetization-mode=1; sprop-parameter-sets=Z0LAH9kAUAW7ARAAAAMAEAAAAwMo8YMkgA==,aMuPIA==; profile-level-id=42C01F You can see that the "profile-level-id" is set to "42C01F". However I'm looking to get the profile-level-id "42E01F". After looking on the Internet a wee bit; I thought I "just" had to add the h264 param "constrained_intra" to 1 but it didn't change anything. Therefore here's my question: How can I get a "profile-level-id" set to "42E01F" with my commands? Thanks in advance. Cheers

Concat Resulting in Delayed Audio
by VP Lists 18 Oct '18

18 Oct '18

Hi folks. I’m performing a multiple-“.mov” concat which is resulting in delayed audio in the final output .mp4. I’m rendering temp MPEG-2 .ts files, then concatenating all of those into a final MP4 file. The final video has a lagging video, which eventually catches up by the end of the video. Is there a way I can fully encapsulate the intermediate files so that there is spot-on audio into the intermediate files, and then into the final MP4? Is MP4 the file type I should be sending to? I can re-translate it post-concat, if need be. My STDOUT is here: https://gist.github.com/daBee/d4052da2a5be7a8ee121ae70eafebefe I appreciate any insight. Cheers _____________ Rich in Toronto @ VP

How to replace a segment of audio in a video with audio from an audio file?
by Steve Bick 17 Oct '18

17 Oct '18

I have video.mp4 of duration 1:25:53. I want to replace the audio from 5:16 - 8:08 with audio from audio.mp3 duration 3:03. (The last part of the audio can be clipped in order to fit into the 5:16 - 8:08 segment of video.) What is the correct ffmpeg command to achieve this?

Hello, Objective: Hls stream (without transcode) of media files inside a directory OS: Ubuntu 18.04 bionic FFmpeg version:
ffmpeg version N-92190-gb2adc31 Copyright (c) 2000-2018 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 7 (Ubuntu 7.3.0-27ubuntu1~18.04) configuration: --prefix=/root/ffmpeg_build --pkg-config-flags=--static --extra-cflags=-I/root/ffmpeg_build/include --extra-ldflags=-L/root/ffmpeg_build/lib --extra-libs='-lpthread -lm' --bindir=/root/bin --enable-gpl --enable-libass --enable-libfdk-aac --enable-libfreetype --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopus --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-vaapi --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --enable-nonfree
Input: Multiple mp4 files with different dar,sar values Output: Http - HLS Codecs: Copy (video, audio, data) Problem: When first video is come to an end, stream stops due to position of I frame etc. I do not wish to choose transcode commands as it's cpu and time consuming process. Would you please let me know what you recommend? May I accomplish this in ffmpeg? Thanks Ermos

Calculation of duplicated video frames in live stream
by Dmitry Menshikov 17 Oct '18

17 Oct '18

Hi! I'm trying to detect duplication of video frames in live streams. Such situation occurs when encoder can't encode stream at specified fps. I see few frames with the same pkt_size. I know that there is filter to detect similar frames but such technique looks like overkill. The simplest solution I see is to compare crc of frames. Is my idea right? Have ffprobe such option? Thank you very much! P.S. Command I currently use: ffprobe -hide_banner -v error -show_frames -show_entries frame=media_type,key_frame,pkt_pts_time -i rtmp://host/path -- Yours truly, Dmitry Menshikov http://dmenshikov.com

Concat Dropping Video
by VP Lists 17 Oct '18

Hi folks. I’ve created a list of small clips in random order, each with a unique filename. This file is used for a concat input file. In the verbose processing, I get lots of these after a few of the first files are processed: Error while decoding stream #0:0: Invalid data found when processing input [h264 @ 0x7fe65c062800] Invalid NAL unit 1, skipping. The next clip came in with no sound, and the rest of the video progressed fine with no sound until much later. Individual clips work just fine. I’m not sure what’s happening. I was assuming it was a simple glue, but apparently it’s not happy with stuff. This section above was a grab from the middle. Any advice appreciated how I can fix this. Approach to Fully Lossless Concat
by VP Lists 17 Oct '18

17 Oct '18

Hi there. I’ve tried two approaches to bring some short clips I’ve created in QuickTime Player 7, all together in a concat. Both approaches demonstrated a shift in audio vs video timelines. They were: - Direct concat - Intermediate xxx.ts files brought together via concat after The syntax isn’t important as I have asked before in this list and I got no answers. I will repeat, that I’ve been over this and absolutely no insight. So I have chosen not to include any syntax. So I’m asking if there is an accepted optimal approach to performing such a task. The latter was the closest I got, but it was still unacceptable. Is this a failure on the master clips? If I manually copy/append into a new file in QuickTime Player 7, there are some frozen frames around the hard transitions, so that’s got me thinking the original clips aren’t the best for this type of stuff and that I need to move to Final Cut Pro. Thanks for any insight. Truly appreciated. I’d love to get FFMPEG working on something like this. Cheers _____________ Rich in Toronto @ VP

Re: [FFmpeg-user] Installing ffmpeg from source, missing libs
by paweg 17 Oct '18

Installed succesfully version 4.0.2. I had wrong configure option --pkg-config="--static" instead of --pkg-config-flags="--static" which I took from some advice on stackoverflow for older ffmpeg version in which probably configure didn't have option --pkg-config-flags. Now with 4.0.2 --pkg-config-flags="--static" works. I also had to set variable export PKG_CONFIG_PATH="$HOME/ffmpeg_build/lib/pkgconfig/" Now all seems to work like an old charm. I was looking for a temporary fix. Have to run it on this Fedora for now, where Ffmpeg was 0.6.1. I want to produce, on this machine, silent mp4 from gif pictures. Now flv are being produced. My approach was to get newer ffmpeg version, so I could use lavfi device which has anullsrc (https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Null#anullsrc) parameter. I assumed ver 1.0.10 would be sufficient according to https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/blob/master/Changelog , so I've tried to install this at first. Now I'll check documents or examples which didn't work so far, so I have to investigate it a little more. But that's a probably different matter. Thanks for Your interest, Pawel > Very true. OTOH, ffmpeg successfully supports quite a host of old > library versions (often incl. fallbacks for pre-pkgconfig and such). I > can successfully build ffmpeg against freetype-2.3.7. >
