passing SPS-PPS nalus on key-frames
by tasos 10 Oct '18

Hello all. I'm using a media server which states 'for H.264 codec, in addition, make sure SPS-PPS nalus are appended to every key-frame' I have searched in order to pass this option in ffmpeg but i don't even know if this is possible (i mean via ffmpeg command line). Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

How to open avfoundation via C
by Jeroen Ooms 09 Oct '18

09 Oct '18

I would like to capture the screen in MacOS. This works via the command line: Command line: ffmpeg -f avfoundation -i "1" -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 25 -t 5 out.mov However I can't figure out how to do this in C. I tried the following, but it gives an error "Device selection unsupported.". AVBufferRef *capture; AVDictionary *opts = NULL; av_dict_set(&opts, "video_device_index", "1", 0); av_dict_set(&opts, "audio_device_index", "none", 0); av_hwdevice_ctx_create(&capture, AV_HWDEVICE_TYPE_VIDEOTOOLBOX, "avfoundation", opts, 0);

frag_duration ignored when segmentation is used
by André Hänsel 05 Oct '18

05 Oct '18

Hi list, this successfully generates a fragmented MP4: ffmpeg -i rtsp://192.168.1.202:554/ch01.264 -map 0:0 -c:v copy -frag_duration 4000000 out.mp4 But this doesn't, it generates a normal MP4 (ftyp-free-mdat-moov): ffmpeg -i rtsp://192.168.1.202:554/ch01.264 -map 0:0 -c:v copy -frag_duration 4000000 -f segment -segment_time 12 -segment_format mp4 out-%03d.mp4 Am I using the wrong command or is ffmpeg unabled to fragment and segment at the same time? Regards, André

Capturing the output of volumedetect as JSON
by redneb8888 04 Oct '18

04 Oct '18

Hi *, ffprobe can nowadays produce JSON output, which is quite convenient sometimes. I am trying to use that feature in order to get the output of volumedetect as JSON. I tried the following: ffprobe -loglevel error -of json=c=1 -show_entries root -f lavfi -i 'movie=filename=clip.mkv:streams=a,volumedetect' The "-show_entries root" means that all information should be included in the JSON output, but still I cannot find anything from volumedetect there. On the other hand, the above trick works just fine with other filters, e.g. for cropdetect you can do ffprobe -loglevel error -of json=c=1 -show_entries frame_tags -f lavfi -i 'movie=filename=clip.mkv:streams=v,cropdetect' Is there a way to make this work? Or is this a shortcoming of volumedetect? Thanks
