Re: [FFmpeg-user] Get Hardware Buffer from FFmpeg 4.0 + VideoToolBox
by fumoboy007＠me.com 04 Oct '18

I recently did just this. frame->data[3] holds a CVPixelBufferRef. Here is some sample code in Swift: let pixelBuffer = Unmanaged<CVPixelBuffer>.fromOpaque(frame!.pointee.data.3!) .retain() .takeRetainedValue() In C, you would do something like: CVPixelBufferRef pixelBuffer = CVPixelBufferRetain((CVPixelBufferRef)frame->data[3]); Cheers! fumoboy007 On Sat Aug 18 05:50:45 EEST 2018, Bo Zhou <bo.schwarzstein(a)gmail.com> wrote: Hi ! I'm using the FFmpeg 4.0.2 and successfully executed the example hw_decode on Mac. And I could see the trace log [h264 @ 0x7f97d9800000] Format videotoolbox_vld chosen by get_format(). [h264 @ 0x7f97d9800000] Reinit context to 1280x720, pix_fmt: videotoolbox_vld Which should mean that it's using videotoolbox_vld . In the hw_decode.c file, we could find the following piece of code. if (frame->format == hw_pix_fmt) { /* retrieve data from GPU to CPU */ if ((ret = av_hwframe_transfer_data(sw_frame, frame, 0)) < 0) { fprintf(stderr, "Error transferring the data to system memory\n"); goto fail; } tmp_frame = sw_frame; } else tmp_frame = frame; So I'd like to know is that possible to get the GPU buffer directly ? I could see the frame->data[3] and frame->buf[0] has a pointer, but how should I use them ? I just want to map the hardware buffer into OpenGL directly. Thank you very much.

Differences between ffmpeg and ffplay
by Michael Koch 03 Oct '18

03 Oct '18

I'm still experimenting with the ultrasonic converter. Converting from one file to another file works without problems: C:\Users\mkoch\Desktop\Ultrasonic Live>c://ffmpeg/ffmpeg -i test_15kHz.mp3 -f la vfi -i aevalsrc="sin(12000*2*PI*t):c=stereo:s=44100" -filter_complex "[0]volume= 1,highpass=f=12000,highpass=f=12000,highpass=f=12000,highpass=f=12000[sound];[so und][1]amultiply,lowpass=f=10000,lowpass=f=10000,lowpass=f=10000,lowpass=f=10000 " -y out.mp3 (no console output, because this is working fine) As the next step, I want to hear the output live on the speakers. I did use exactly the same command line as above, but I replaced ffmpeg by ffplay and I omitted the output file. At the end of the console output is an error message. Can't ffplay handle two inputs? Why doesn't ffplay accept the command line that works fine with ffmpeg? ffplay RTP: dropping old packet received too late
by Gáll Péter 03 Oct '18

03 Oct '18

I have a machine which streams live audio to a multicast address: ffmpeg -f alsa -i hw:0 -acodec libmp3lame -ab 128k -f rtp rtp:// 239.123.13.101:56789. I catch that stream with ffplay: ffplay rtp:// 239.123.13.101:56789.It works fine until I stop ffmpeg and start it again. If I restart ffmpeg (when ffplay still running), I get the error message from ffplay: RTP: dropping old packet recieved too late. Is there a solution to "re-receice" the newly started stream, without restarting ffplay? Thanks, Peter

Why are half the frames "duplicate" ?

I'm transcoding mpeg2 -> x264. Stream #0:0[0x64]: Video: mpeg2video (Main) ([2][0][0][0] / 0x0002), yuv420p(tv, progressive), 720x480 [SAR 8:9 DAR 4:3], Closed Captions, 29.97 fps, 59.94 tbr, 90k tbn, 59.94 tbc When I run ffmpeg: ffmpeg -i in.mpg -map 0:0 -map 0:2 -c:v libx264 -tune film -preset slow -crf 22 -c:a copy out.mp4 almost half the frames are dups: frame=394550 fps=135 q=-1.0 Lsize= 2218652kB time=03:39:24.71 bitrate=1380.6kbits/s dup=175142 drop=0 speed=4.51x Does this really mean that there were 175,142 frames with exact copies ? So only ( 394,550 less 175,142 ) unique frames ? The output looks fine. The input looks fine. What are these duplicated frames? Is it an interlacing issue ? But the input is progressive. Basic ffmpeg user - issues converting
by Kassim Massop 01 Oct '18

01 Oct '18

Hi there community, I have recently discovered ffmpeg and am trying to use it to convert & compress my raw footage from an Atomos device. When using the most basic command (ffmpeg -i source.mov output.mov) I get the below error in "basic command" After some googling I found using the copy command can fix this so I used the following command (ffmpeg -i source.mov -acodec copy output.mov) which converted successfully but the output video file is unplayable in any video player (error from VLC - Codec not supported:VLC could not decode the format "aivx" (No description for this codec)). What am I doing wrong here? Also what would be the best command to run to reduce filesize and keep the quality as high as possible for 1080p/60 & 4k/60 respectivley (whilst keeping the 10 audio channels)? --- Basic coomand --- H:\FFMPEG-Convert\bin>ffmpeg -i 1.mov output.mov ffmpeg version N-92065-g476a77128a Copyright (c) 2000-2018 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 8.2.1 (GCC) 20180813 configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-sdl2 --enable-fontconfig --enable-gnutls --enable-iconv --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libfreetype --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --enable-libxml2 --enable-libzimg --enable-lzma --enable-zlib --enable-gmp --enable-libvidstab --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvo-amrwbenc --enable-libmysofa --enable-libspeex --enable-libxvid --enable-libaom --enable-libmfx --enable-amf --enable-ffnvcodec --enable-cuvid --enable-d3d11va --enable-nvenc --enable-nvdec --enable-dxva2 --enable-avisynth libavutil 56. 19.101 / 56. 19.101 libavcodec 58. 31.101 / 58. 31.101 libavformat 58. 18.103 / 58. 18.103 libavdevice 58. 4.104 / 58. 4.104 libavfilter 7. 33.100 / 7. 33.100 libswscale 5. 2.100 / 5. 2.100 libswresample 3. 2.100 / 3. 2.100 libpostproc 55. 2.100 / 55. 2.100 [mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2 @ 000001bd6ce2a240] overread end of atom '®mak' by 2 bytes [mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2 @ 000001bd6ce2a240] overread end of atom '®swr' by 3 bytes Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from '1.mov': Metadata: major_brand : qt minor_version : 537199360 compatible_brands: qt creation_time : 2018-09-26T17:50:54.000000Z make : Atomos make-eng : Atomos encoder : NinjaInferno - ffmpeg throwing “Non-monotonous DTS in output stream”
by Charles Winthrop 01 Oct '18

So I'm trying to concatenate 5 video files. I'm running Linux, and the command line looks like this: ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i blist.txt -c copy output.mp4 blist.txt contains this: file '00 - Test Pattern.mp4' file '01 - In Memoriam.mp4' file 'Feature Presentation 01.mp4' file 'The Head.mp4' file 'Intermission 03.mp4' Soon as it starts processing the second file, it throws errors like this, but continues running: [mp4 @ 0x1c4c4c0] Non-monotonous DTS in output stream 0:1; previous: 274141424, current: 253439430; changing to 274141425. This may result in incorrect timestamps in the output file. The resulting video plays perfectly, up until the end of the 4th video. The 5th video has video, but no audio. Last run I did on this, with the same files, had audio but no video, just a black screen. I'm fairly certain I need to just go ahead and re-encode all the files, but I have no idea what parameters to use. Can someone please help me with this?
