Hi, I am using ffmpeg version 2.4.7 on Fedora-21 workstation. I want to record audio, simultaneously from mic and speakers as separate streams. I am using the following command for it. ffmpeg -f alsa -i pulse -f alsa -i default -acodec libmp3lame -map 0:0 -map 1:0 outfile.mkv But after executing this command in terminal, I have to goto "Volume Control" settings in GUI, then goto "Recording" tab, change the "capture from" of one channel to "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" (i.e., Mic) and the "capture from" of another channel to "Monitor of Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" (i.e., Speakers). But how can this be done completely from command-line, for automating it to use in scripts. - Mohan

Hello everybody, I am trying to use FFMPEG ( 3.4 version) to transfert HDR video specifications (x265.mp4 videos). I have seen on other forums command lines that I tried to test for me but I never have succesfull results. I want to use Nvidia options (NVENC/SCALE_NPP/or other) because I have a P4 graphic card. Hello There, I would like to stream 4 cams to YouTube using ffmpeg. Make Output Files More Digestible / Increase Output Compatibility

Hey everyone, I've found that my video files captured with FFmpeg don't play nice with other programs. Many video players display incorrect duration, others allow no scrubbing, and some won't even open the files at all. But perhaps the most annoying incompatibility is with Adobe Premiere. Trying to edit the 3440x1440 footage outputted from FFMpeg in Premiere is almost impossible, it will play for around 2 seconds at a time before completely freezing up and just displaying one frame. It would appear it is only a problem with the preview in premiere as once I export the video everything plays back perfectly smooth. But the preview is obviously very important while editing video as you can't see if your edits look good otherwise. When I capture the same quality of footage (3440x1440, 100FPS, 250M bitrate) with something like OBS the files playback perfectly fine in every video player I test. And more importantly OBS output plays back very smooth in Adobe Premiere while editing. Now I am capturing MP4 not TS in OBS but when I encode MP4 with FFmpeg it screws with syncronization and I can confirm it doesn't improve compatability, at least in my experience. So I was just wondering if anyone knows a way to increase compatability or make the output files more digestible. My specs aren't an issue I'm running a 7900x, GTX 1080, 64GB of RAM, and store all the footage on a PCIe M.2 drive (1000mb+ read and write). And as mentioned before OBS videos of the same quality, file type, and sometimes even of larger size work perfectly fine. I wouldn't even have a problem re-encoding the files afterwards, but would prefer finding a solution that allows the initial output files to play nice with other programs, thanks for any advice. Can I get some help converting .sec files?

Hi, I have a Samsung security system which saves video in the .sec format which no other app can play. The Samsung SmartViewer app has developed issues and is no longer updated/supported so, as a result, I cannot play saved .sec files with it, either. So- I can save video but there is no way to watch it. However, I can convert these .sec files to mp4 with ffmpeg, using this command: ffmpeg -i (name of file).sec (name of final file).mp4 It throws errors such as: [h264 @ 000000000057fb00] Invalid NAL unit 8, skipping. [libx264 @ 0000000000516800] frame= 176 QP=25.50 NAL=2 Slice:B Poc:352 I:3 P:485 SKIP:821 size=1220 bytes but it still works well enough that I can watch the video with any app that plays mp4. However, the video is sped up quite a bit so that it appears to be in fast motion. I suppose it's the Samsung app that is doing this but since I can't watch it until I convert it, I don't know for sure. I figured out that it is about 3.3 times faster. I can convert the video and also slow it down to normal speed with the command: ffmpeg -i (name of file).sec -filter:v "setpts=3.3*PTS" (name of final file).mp4 but the video loses quality and horizontal lines appear in it. Is there a better command for converting .sec to .mp4 while correcting the speed and preserving the quality? I don't have the skills to understand the ffmpeg documentation and how to choose the best command for my purposes, it's way over my head, but I can copy commands someone gives me and use them. I realize there won't be a perfect way to do this but I'd like to get the best results possible. I am using ffmpeg-20180824-4d87cd2-win64-static with Windows 7.
