Hi,dear friends, recently I have a task which need cut the long videos to many segments. The concrete code I used as follow: 1. First I convert all video to mpeg4 codec. Use [cid:image001.png@01D53569.052114F0] 2. Second I cut the video in a simple python script. Use [cid:image002.png@01D53569.647DEC70] 3. Then when I decode the video, try to extract some i-frames and MVs,I got a error.. [cid:image003.png@01D53569.F5AEF5E0] The mpeg4 header seems to be damaged. But use the potplayer to play it's ok. So I want know the problem. thanks a lot.

Request for pointers on how to figure out the spec for transcoding profile for output video from ffmpeg

Hi Guys, We are using ffmpeg for transcoding which then feeds the output to bento4 for packaging. What I am trying to understand is the exact spec for transcoding. Following command is what we are using: ffmpeg -i $INPUT_VIDEO_FILE -codec:v libx264 -x264opts "keyint=24:min-keyint=24:no-scenecut" -profile:v baseline -level 4.0 -vf "scale=-2:1080" /mnt/s3_temp/$SERVER_NAME/$PROJECT_ID/videos/$VIDEO_ID/ "ffmpeg_output"/$VIDEO_ID"_burned_1080_.mp4" && echo "1080 version:" >> encoding_logs.log I went through some docs but I am not sure if I was able to comprehend it in its entirety. I am have a some hard time to figure out the details of it. I was hoping that one of you would be able to point me in the right direction. What I want to know is what the transcoding profile in above command is? so that we can optimize it as some of our users were complaining about slower download times for offline drm content (for full list of sample commands we use for drm including bento4's packaging please check - https://gitlab.com/snippets/1869512) I tried to search around from docs and google for say what exactly libx264 does and what -x264opts does but wasn't able to put it together in a comprehensible way. For what I can tell is that I am using x264 default presets by using x264opts (I am aware that in future only x264-params will supported) I saw something here ( https://sites.google.com/site/linuxencoding/x264-ffmpeg-mapping) Is this the profile I am using in the above command? Hi, I recently upgraded ffmpeg and suddenly started to get errors when decoding Matroska files. My colleague Yujing Huang discovered this when making a H264 file from a FFV1/MKV 57 second file, and a single frame was duplicated from 26 seconds to 48 seconds. combining concatenating movies

Hello, I would like to combine a bunch of movies (a dozen or so short ones) to one long movie. The short movies are from a dashcam, here is some info; container: Quicktime dimensions: 1920x1080 Codec: H.264 Framerate: 30 frames per second Bitrate: varies per file ... Audio doesn't matter much, there should be no audio I tried a few ffmpeg options, tried to find examples online. Any suggestions? thanks, Ron

Hi, Is there a way to change for example margins and font size when using "ass=sub.ass" to hardcode subtitles? With "subtitles=sub.ass" you can use force_style, but is there a similar way with the ass=sub.ass filter? Thanks, Daniel

PCM audio in MP4

Hi everyone :) I'm trying to create .mp4 files with uncompressed, linear PCM for audio in it. I know for quite a while already that FFmpeg doesn't allow that: > [mp4 @ 0x50cc780] Could not find tag for codec pcm_s16le in stream #0, codec not currently supported in container > Could not write header for output file #0 (incorrect codec parameters ?): Invalid argument In my research a few years ago I stumbled over a few sources saying that MP4 specs didn't allow LPCM for audio [1,2,3]. However, I know that some (Sony) video cameras do produce PCM in .mp4 container, and Wikipedia also lists LPCM as supported audio codec [4] in MP4. Experience has shown that "if FFmpeg can't/won't do it - there's a good reason" :) May I ask what that reason is?
