Auto segment using EDL?
by Peter B. 09 Feb '21

09 Feb '21

Hello everyone! :) FFmpeg's segment muxer [1] is very useful and very configurable already, and I was wondering if FFmpeg supports a way of splitting based on something like segment/timeline information given in an additional (text)file? Something along the idea of an Edit Decision List (EDL) [2], but I'd already be happy for some rudimentary support like "start/stop/name". I'd finally like to get rid of my yet-another-bash-wrapper hacks ;) I'm grateful for any suggestions, Peter B. # Links: [1] https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-formats.html#segment_002c-stream_005fsegment_002c… [2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edit_decision_list

Stack + resize + use audio from first video?
by Gilles 09 Feb '21

09 Feb '21

Hello, It's a bit over my head. In one command, I'd like to stack two videos, resize them to the same width+height, and use audio from the first video. Would someone have a working example? #Stack ffmpeg -i input0 -i input1 -filter_complex vstack=inputs=2 output #Using audio from one particular input. This example will use the audio from input1: ffmpeg -i input0 -i input1 -filter_complex "[0:v][1:v]vstack=inputs=2[v]" -map "[v]" -map 1:a output #Resize/scale an input ffmpeg -i input0 -i input2 -filter_complex "[0:v]scale=640:-1[v0];[v0][1:v]vstack=inputs=2" output Thank you. -- Sent from: http://ffmpeg-users.933282.n4.nabble.com/

Insert black frames -- How?
by Mark Filipak (ffmpeg) 09 Feb '21

09 Feb '21

I want to insert black frames into a stream on a regular basis. #1, Is that an input device? I think so. Or, #2, is it better/easier to repeat an input frame and blacken the repeated frame? Maybe. I seek guidance. I've read everything I could find. Methinks #1 would be best. But if #2, would a 'pad' filter that covers the entire frame be best/easiest? Thanks Folks! Mark. -- I don't have a dog. FFMPEG with gnutls static build for Android
by Michael Wood 08 Feb '21

08 Feb '21

Hi, I'm trying to build ffmpeg with gnutls as a static library, but the issue i'm seeing is when I link to the built ffmpeg libs in my project, that should build a final shared library, i'm getting undefined references to gnutls and its dependencies. I'm trying to figure out how to proceed with this. I've expected that the final libs would have no external dependencies if they are built as static or am i missing something ? Best, Mike

Failed to generate stream segment video frames

Hi, I'm trying to generate video and audio stream segments, with below command I'm able to generate audio segments but not full video segments. Please find the attached log file. $ffmpeg -f alsa -channels 1 -thread_queue_size 1024 -i hw:1 -f video4linux2 -i /dev/video0 -c:a aac -ar 48k -t 0:30 -segment_time 00:00.08 -segment_start_number 1 -f stream_segment /home/test/samples/aacSampleFrames/sample-%003d.aac -c:v h264 -pix_fmt yuv420p -s:v 640x480 -t 0:30 -r 25 -g 45 -bf 0 -segment_time 00:00.08 -segment_start_number 1 -f stream_segment /home/test/samples/h264SampleFrames/frame-%003d.h264

Script to time all encoders on a given machine?
by Steven Kan 07 Feb '21

07 Feb '21

I know that ffmpeg -encoders will return all the encoders compiled into a given build, but has anyone written a script to actually test each of them and time the results? Something like: for each $thisencoder in “ffmpeg -encoders” time ffmpeg -i testfile.mp4 -vcodec $thisencoder out.mp4 (or whatever extension is suitable) > results.txt next $encoder with error checking, etc. Or would this not be useful because y’all already know what works on your machine?

Re: [FFmpeg-user] Removing a metadata tag from a specfic stream

I was able to extract the art to a separate file and also remove the art, which in turn removed the associated metadata. (Thibeau, I'll send you those commands momentarily. Paul may improve on it. He knows this stuff far better) Paul, are you saying FFmpeg can add album art to .flac files? I seems possible do so with mp3 manipulating id3 info, but how to do so with .flac? Thanks

How are ffmpeg internal frames structured?
by Mark Filipak (ffmpeg) 07 Feb '21

07 Feb '21

[decoder] --> [filters] --> [codecs] --> [encoder] My question is: How are docoder.output and encoder.input structured? Yes, I know that filters can reformat the video, deinterlace, stack fields, etc. I have been assuming that the structure is frames of pixels like this: pixel[0,0] pixel[1,0] ... pixel[in_w-1,0] pixel[0,1] pixel[1,1] ... pixel[in_w-1,in_h-1] In other words, raw video frames with lines abutted end-to-end (i.e. not deinterlaced). Am I correct? -- I don't have a dog. And furthermore, my dog doesn't bite. And furthermore, you provoked him.
