Yes, I have installed all of the required tools, but I can build only parts of the documentation, not all of it. > Well, either you grab a release for that release's docs, or you grab > nightly or lastest Git, to get the latest docs. I would like to have the docs for 5.0, but not trunk, as the latter are updated every night and will diverge from 5.0 over time. Build from source does not provide all of the documentation for me as it would require me to install every single dependency (e.g., CUDA, DeckLink etc.), or am I missing something? Best, Andreas

It would also be helpful if there were any pointers to how the nightly documentation is built exactly ([2] in the message above). Thank you. Best regards, Andreas

hardware encoder h264_v4l2m2m doesn't produce valid dash
by Alan 28 Feb '22

28 Feb '22

Hello, I'm capturing video from a usb capture (hdmi to usb) and converting it to dash via ffmpeg and then serving it via nginx. The FFmpeg 4.3.3 command line I'm using on Raspberry Pi 3: sudo ffmpeg -y -f v4l2 -input_format yuyv422 -video_size 1920x1080 -framerate 5 -i /dev/video0 -vcodec h264_v4l2m2m -pix_fmt yuv420p -keyint_min 30 -g 30 -map 0:v -b:v 1000k -level 41 -profile:v 77 -f dash -seg_duration 1 -streaming 1 -window_size 30 -remove_at_exit 1 -dash_segment_type 1 /dev/shm/source1/live.mpd The live.mpd produced seems to not have the correct mime for codec. See codecs= in these two examples: Got: <Representation id="0" mimeType="video/mp4" codecs="avc1" bandwidth="1000000" width="1920" height="1080" sar="1:1"> Expect: <Representation id="0" mimeType="video/mp4" codecs="avc1.420029" bandwidth="37678" width="1280" height="800" sar="1:1"> The missing part after avc1 seems to cause the browser to not play the video stream and bork with error: Cannot play media. No decoders for requested formats: video/mp4;codecs="avc1";width="1920";height="1080" Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Thanks a bunch

linear loudnorm
by Jonathan Baecker 27 Feb '22

27 Feb '22

Hello! I'm trying to nomalize an audio file with FFmpeg. I'm using the loudnorm filter. The source loudness is -23 LUFS and I want to make it -17 LUFS. As far as I know, loudnorm has 2 modes of normalizing audio: linear and dynamic (analysing small parts vs. analysing the whole file). The problem is that when I have an audio file where someone is speaking, the pauses in the speech get louder and louder and thus a hissing noise is clearly audible. Thats why I need linear normalization. But for some reason, that I can't explain, FFmpeg always switches to dynamic mode. I've considered all the requirements for liner scaling in the loudnorm documentation, but I can't figure out whats wrong. I've specified all 4 values, target LRA isn't lower than input LRA, and when I normalize the file in Adobe Audition to -17 LUFS, I can't see any peeking. What would be the best way to get linear normalization with FFmpeg? Here is what I'm doing: 1. Analyze the source audio file: ffmpeg -i input.wav -filter:a loudnorm=I=-17:TP=-1:LRA=9:print_format=json -f null - ffmpeg version N-100942-gc596e82155-gb7251aed46+3 Copyright (c) 2000-2021 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 10.2.0 (Rev6, Built by MSYS2 project) configuration: --pkg-config=pkgconf --cc='ccache gcc' --cxx='ccache g++' --ld='ccache g++' --disable-autodetect --enable-amf --enable-bzlib --enable-cuda --enable-cuvid --enable-d3d11va --enable-dxva2 --enable-iconv --enable-lzma --enable-nvenc --enable-zlib --enable-sdl2 --enable-ffnvcodec --enable-nvdec --enable-cuda-llvm --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopus --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --enable-libdav1d --enable-libaom --disable-debug --enable-fontconfig --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libfreetype --enable-libmfx --enable-libmysofa --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvidstab --enable-libvo-amrwbenc --enable-libwebp --enable-libxml2 --enable-libzimg --enable-libshine --enable-gpl --enable-avisynth --enable-libxvid --enable-libopenmpt --enable-version3 --enable-chromaprint --enable-decklink --enable-frei0r --enable-libbs2b --enable-libcaca --enable-libcdio --enable-libfdk-aac --enable-libflite --enable-libfribidi --enable-libgme --enable-libgsm --enable-libilbc --enable-libsvthevc --enable-libsvtav1 --enable-libkvazaar --enable-libmodplug --enable-librtmp --enable-librubberband --enable-libtesseract --enable-libxavs --enable-libzmq --enable-libzvbi --enable-openal --enable-libvmaf --enable-libcodec2 --enable-libsrt --enable-ladspa --enable-librav1e --enable-libglslang --enable-vulkan --enable-openssl --extra-cflags=-fopenmp --extra-libs=-lgomp --extra-cflags=-DLIBTWOLAME_STATIC --extra-libs=-lstdc++ --extra-cflags=-DCACA_STATIC --extra-cflags=-DMODPLUG_STATIC --extra-cflags=-DCHROMAPRINT_NODLL --extra-libs=-lstdc++ --extra-cflags=-DZMQ_STATIC --extra-libs=-lpsapi --extra-cflags=-DLIBXML_STATIC --extra-libs=-liconv --disable-w32threads --extra-cflags=-DKVZ_STATIC_LIB --enable-nonfree --extra-cflags=-DAL_LIBTYPE_STATIC --extra-cflags='-ID:/ab-suite/local64/include/AL' libavutil 56. 64.100 / 56. 64.100 libavcodec 58.120.100 / 58.120.100 libavformat 58. 65.101 / 58. 65.101 libavdevice 58. 11.103 / 58. 11.103 libavfilter 7.101.100 / 7.101.100 libswscale 5. 8.100 / 5. 8.100 libswresample 3. 8.100 / 3. 8.100 libpostproc 55. 8.100 / 55. 8.100 Guessed Channel Layout for Input Stream #0.0 : stereo Input #0, wav, from 'input.wav': Metadata: encoded_by : Adobe Adobe Media Encoder 2020.0 encoder : Adobe Adobe Media Encoder 2020.0 (Windows) date : 2021-02-15 creation_time : 15:31:34 time_reference : 0 Duration: 00:37:57.52, bitrate: 1539 kb/s Stream #0:0: Audio: pcm_s16le ([1][0][0][0] / 0x0001), 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 1536 kb/s Stream mapping: Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (pcm_s16le (native) -> pcm_s16le (native)) Press [q] to stop, [?] for help Output #0, null, to 'pipe:': Metadata: encoded_by : Adobe Adobe Media Encoder 2020.0 time_reference : 0 date : 2021-02-15 encoder : Lavf58.65.101 Stream #0:0: Audio: pcm_s16le, 192000 Hz, stereo, s16, 6144 kb/s Metadata: encoder : Lavc58.120.100 pcm_s16le size=N/A time=00:37:54.62 bitrate=N/A speed=33.9x video:0kB audio:1708140kB subtitle:0kB other streams:0kB global headers:0kB muxing overhead: unknown [Parsed_loudnorm_0 @ 00000121fcf41e00] { "input_i" : "-22.72", "input_tp" : "-2.67", "input_lra" : "6.10", "input_thresh" : "-33.31", "output_i" : "-16.95", "output_tp" : "-1.00", "output_lra" : "6.00", "output_thresh" : "-27.53", "normalization_type" : "dynamic", "target_offset" : "-0.05" } 2. Get sample rate in mp3 files
by CMG DiGiTaL 26 Feb '22

26 Feb '22

Hi, I'm creating a bat file that will access a folder with several mp3 files. I would like to be able to select in this folder only the mp3s with a sample rate of 48000 khz and copy them to another folder where I will change from 48000 khz to 44100 khz. What command can I use to select only 48000kHz mp3 from original folder to destination folder? I will use ffmpeg in a batch file. thanks clamarc

Re: [FFmpeg-user] PhotoJPEG File doesn't playback properly on Quicktime 7
by Patrick Cusack 25 Feb '22

25 Feb '22

>> I wouldn’t know if this is an ffmpeg or Quicktime 7 issue, but I am encountering playback stutter on Quicktime 7 when playing back photo-jpeg encoded files. I don’t encounter this issue in Quicktime X or with other players. I only bring this up so I can verify that I am not missing anything. I am using the following example: >> >> ffmpeg -i moviefile.mov -c:v mjpeg -pix_fmt yuv420p output.mov >> >> How would you recommend I further diagnose this issue? > please post the complete/unedited command output to the list (see https://ffmpeg.org/mailing-list-faq.html) I have attached my command line. Again these files only stutter in Quicktime 7. Should this be a QT7 issue, then fine, but I would like to know any possibility that would cause this. Thanks User-MacBook-Pro-2:~ User$ ffmpeg -i /Users/User/Documents/Media/1/FF8_SMALL.mov -vf "scale=720x480" -c:v mjpeg -pix_fmt yuvj420p output.mov ffmpeg version N-101101-gc0d0b1c4f6-tessus https://evermeet.cx/ffmpeg/ <https://evermeet.cx/ffmpeg/> Copyright (c) 2000-2021 the FFmpeg developers built with Apple clang version 11.0.0 (clang-1100.0.33.17) configuration: --cc=/usr/bin/clang --prefix=/opt/ffmpeg --extra-version=tessus --enable-avisynth --enable-fontconfig --enable-gpl --enable-libaom --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libdav1d --enable-libfreetype --enable-libgsm --enable-libmodplug --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libmysofa --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libopenh264 --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-librubberband --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libspeex --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvidstab --enable-libvmaf --enable-libvo-amrwbenc --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libwebp --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --enable-libxavs --enable-libxvid --enable-libzimg --enable-libzmq --enable-libzvbi --enable-version3 --pkg-config-flags=--static --disable-ffplay libavutil 56. 65.100 / 56. 65.100 libavcodec 58.123.100 / 58.123.100 libavformat 58. 67.100 / 58. 67.100 libavdevice 58. 12.100 / 58. 12.100 libavfilter 7.106.100 / 7.106.100 libswscale 5. 8.100 / 5. 8.100 libswresample 3. 8.100 / 3. 8.100 libpostproc 55. 8.100 / 55. 8.100 Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from '/Users/User/Documents/Media/1/FF8_SMALL.mov': Metadata: major_brand : qt minor_version : 512 compatible_brands: qt encoder : Lavf58.67.100 Duration: 00:00:30.03, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 36139 kb/s Stream #0:0(eng): Video: dnxhd (DNXHD) (AVdn / 0x6E645641), yuv422p(tv, bt709/unknown/unknown), 1920x1080, 36139 kb/s, SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9, 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 23976 tbn, 23976 tbc (default) Metadata: handler_name : Apple Video Media Handler vendor_id : FFMP encoder : DNxHD 709 timecode : 00:00:00:00 Stream #0:1(eng): Data: none (tmcd / 0x64636D74), 0 kb/s Metadata: handler_name : Apple Video Media Handler timecode : 00:00:00:00 File 'output.mov' already exists. FFMpeg question on Raspberry Pi
by Fred Kemp 25 Feb '22

I need help in trying to develop a security camera for a remote area of a farm. There is no internet in some places there and some of the motion videos may be long, e.g., 20 to 30 minutes. So, I would like to be able to record these longer motion videos on a Raspberry Pi locally, concatenate them and then be able to somehow quickly review the compilation/concatenated video on a video player and then download the snippet(s) of video to a smart phone. I'm looking for direction as far as software goes. I am not tech savvy but I know enough to see this project possibly going down a number of dead ends as I learn about the limitations of various software packages. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I was thinking of possibly: 1. Recording motion using Motion or MotionEyes to a particular directory for the day, 2. Then using FFMpeg to possibly automatically concatenate the videos in that directory into one bigger file, and 3. Then using a video player to scroll through the video and download a particular segment to my iPhone. Is this possible? Thank you in advance for your time!
