FFMPEG Python Fails on Windows
by Douglas Rhiner 24 Feb '22

I have a simple Python script that converts to DASH format. It runs perfectly on my MacMini but fails on our Processing PC. I have several other Python scripts that leverage FFMPEG and they all run fine. Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? This is the command being called on the PC. The only difference between PC and Mac is the input location string. *ffmpeg -i X:/DASH/VIDEO_7984.h265.mp4 -y -preset veryslow -keyint_min 100 -g 100 -sc_threshold 0 -r 25 -c:v libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ac 1 -ar 44100 -map v:0 -s:0 1920x960 -b:v:0 2M -maxrate:0 2.14M -bufsize:0 3.5M -map v:0 -s:1 1440x720 -b:v:1 145k -maxrate:1 155k -bufsize:1 220k -map v:0 -s:2 2880x1440 -b:v:2 365k -maxrate:2 390k -bufsize:2 640k -map v:0 -s:3 3320x1660 -b:v:3 730k -maxrate:3 781k -bufsize:3 1278k -map v:0 -s:4 3320x1660 -b:v:4 1.1M -maxrate:4 1.17M -bufsize:4 2M -map v:0 -s:5 3840x1920 -b:v:5 3M -maxrate:5 3.21M -bufsize:5 5.5M -map v:0 -s:6 3840x1920 -b:v:6 4.5M -maxrate:6 4.8M -bufsize:6 8M -map v:0 -s:7 4096x2048 -b:v:7 6M -maxrate:7 6.42M -bufsize:7 11M -map v:0 -s:8 4096x2048 -b:v:8 7.8M -maxrate:8 8.3M -bufsize:8 14M -map 0:a -init_seg_name init\$RepresentationID\$.\$ext\$ -media_seg_name chunk\$RepresentationID\$-\$Number%05d\$.\$ext\$ -use_template 1 -use_timeline 1 -f dash Dash/dash.mpd* This is the console output all the way to the failure. *ffmpeg version 4.2.3 Copyright (c) 2000-2020 the FFmpeg developers* * built with gcc 9.3.1 (GCC) 20200523* * configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-sdl2 --enable-fontconfig --enable-gnutls --enable-iconv --enable-libass --enable-libdav1d --enable-libbluray --enable-libfreetype --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libopus --enable-libshine --enable-libsnappy --enable-libsoxr --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavpack --enable-libwebp --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --enable-libxml2 --enable-libzimg --enable-lzma --enable-zlib --enable-gmp --enable-libvidstab --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvo-amrwbenc --enable-libmysofa --enable-libspeex --enable-libxvid --enable-libaom --enable-libmfx --enable-amf --enable-ffnvcodec --enable-cuvid --enable-d3d11va --enable-nvenc --enable-nvdec --enable-dxva2 --enable-avisynth --enable-libopenmpt* * libavutil 56. 31.100 / 56. 31.100* * libavcodec 58. 54.100 / 58. 54.100* * libavformat 58. 29.100 / 58. 29.100* * libavdevice 58. 8.100 / 58. 8.100* * libavfilter 7. 57.100 / 7. 57.100* * libswscale 5. 5.100 / 5. 5.100* * libswresample 3. 5.100 / 3. 5.100* * libpostproc 55. 5.100 / 55. 5.100* *Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'X:/DASH/VIDEO_7984.h265.mp4':* * Metadata:* * major_brand : mp42* * minor_version : 0* * compatible_brands: mp42mp41* * creation_time : 2022-02-23T19:29:37.000000Z* * Duration: 00:00:19.01, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 60188 kb/s* * Stream #0:0(eng): Video: hevc (Main) (hvc1 / 0x31637668), yuv420p(tv, bt709), 5120x2560 [SAR 1:1 DAR 2:1], 60038 kb/s, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 30k tbn, 29.97 tbc (default)* * Metadata:* * creation_time : 2022-02-23T19:29:37.000000Z* * handler_name : ?Mainconcept Video Media Handler* * encoder : HEVC Coding* * Side data:* * stereo3d: 2D* * spherical: equirectangular (0.000000/0.000000/0.000000) * * Stream #0:1(eng): Audio: aac (LC) (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 317 kb/s (default)* * Metadata:* * creation_time : 2022-02-23T19:29:37.000000Z* * handler_name : #Mainconcept MP4 Sound Media Handler* *Stream mapping:* * Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (hevc (native) -> h264 (libx264))* * Stream #0:0 -> #0:1 (hevc (native) -> h264 (libx264))* * Stream #0:0 -> #0:2 (hevc (native) -> h264 (libx264))* * Stream #0:0 -> #0:3 (hevc (native) -> h264 (libx264))* * Stream #0:0 -> #0:4 (hevc (native) -> h264 (libx264))* * Stream #0:0 -> #0:5 (hevc (native) -> h264 (libx264))* * Stream #0:0 -> #0:6 (hevc (native) -> h264 (libx264))* * Stream #0:0 -> #0:7 (hevc (native) -> h264 (libx264))* * Stream #0:0 -> #0:8 (hevc (native) -> h264 (libx264))* * Stream #0:1 -> #0:9 (aac (native) -> aac (native))* *Press [q] to stop, [?] for help* *[libx264 @ 000002dcc5727940] using SAR=1/1* *[libx264 @ 000002dcc5727940] using cpu capabilities: MMX2 SSE2Fast SSSE3 SSE4.2 AVX FMA3 BMI2 AVX2* *[libx264 @ 000002dcc5727940] profile High, level 5.1, 4:2:0, 8-bit* *[libx264 @ 000002dcc5727940] 264 - configure gives "ERROR: libzmq >= 4.2.1 not found using pkg-config"
by Thomas Seilund 24 Feb '22

24 Feb '22

Hi All I get this message when I run configure.sh "ERROR: libzmq >= 4.2.1 not found using pkg-config" I run these two commands to check that I have libzmq: ldconfig -p | grep libzmq libzmq.so.5 (libc6,AArch64) => /lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/libzmq.so.5 libzmq.so (libc6,AArch64) => /lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/libzmq.so apt list --installed | grep libzmq WARNING: apt does not have a stable CLI interface. Use with caution in scripts. libzmq3-dev/stable,now 4.3.4-1 arm64 [installed] libzmq5/stable,now 4.3.4-1 arm64 [installed,automatic] Here is the full ./configure command ./configure --prefix=/home/pi/ffmpeg_build \ --pkg-config-flags=--static \ --extra-cflags=-I/home/pi/ffmpeg_build/include \ --extra-ldflags=-L/home/pi/ffmpeg_build/lib \ --extra-libs='-lpthread -lm' \ --ld=g++ \ --bindir=/home/pi/bin \ --enable-gpl \ --enable-gnutls \ --enable-libfdk-aac \ --enable-libfreetype \ --enable-libx264 \ --enable-libzmq \ --enable-nonfree I guess that when I get an error using ./configure it does not make any sense to compile. Thanks Thomas S

Noise in audio stream during quiet periods
by Julian Pilfold-Bagwell 24 Feb '22

24 Feb '22

Hi All, I'm trying to set up a tannoy system in our building using FFMPEG and Icecast. The server that is streaming is being fed from the 0db recording output from an analogue amplifier that is wired up to an existing 100v system and at the receiving end are PCs with active speakers fitted. The problem that I have is that when there's no audio input to the tannoy, there's a background noise that is intrusive enough to play out through the speakers. I've been trying to use the noise reduction features in FFMPEG to reduce the noise but haven't managed to get rid of it. The command I'm running to run the system is: /usr/bin/ffmpeg -f alsa -i hw:0,0 -acodec libmp3lame -ab 128k -ac 1 -content_type audio/mpeg -f mp3 icecast://source:<password-removed>@ 172.20.0.75:8000/tannoy Can anyone let me know if this is possible or if there's any way I could implement something akin to a radio squelch that would just mute the output when the input signal drops below a certain level. Thanks in advance, Jools

Measurement differences between loudnorm and ebur128 filter
by Remko Tronçon 23 Feb '22

23 Feb '22

Hi, When I run an audio file through the 'loudnorm' filter, I get the following: > ffmpeg -i <file> -af loudnorm=print_format=json -f null - ... "input_i" : "-13.87", "input_tp" : "0.06", "input_lra" : "8.50", "input_thresh" : "-24.45", ... When I run the same audio file through the ebur128 filter, I get the following: > ffmpeg -i <file> -af ebur128 -f null - Integrated loudness: I: -13.8 LUFS Threshold: -24.4 LUFS Loudness range: LRA: 8.7 LU Threshold: -34.3 LUFS LRA low: -20.1 LUFS LRA high: -11.4 LUFS Why are these measurements different? Even if rounding would be towards 0, that would not explain the LRA difference? thanks, Remko

No further support for libva v1?
by Ingo Brückl 23 Feb '22

23 Feb '22

Commit e050959103f375e6494937fa28ef2c4d2d15c9ef disables compilation using libva v1 (which was still possible with FFmpeg 4.4.1). Has support for libva v1 been dropped intentionally? Ingo

Unrecognized option -intra FFmpeg 5.0
by adam smith 22 Feb '22

22 Feb '22

Hi fellow FFmpeg enthusiasts. Hope everyone is doing well. I have updated to FFmpeg v5.0 and mostly I am having a great time. I am however having an issue with Unrecognised option -intra when trying to create IMX30 or IMX50. The command below was working in 4.4 /usr/src/app # ffmpeg -y -i /data/disposable/source.mp4 -filter_complex "[0:0]scale=w=720:h=576,setdar=dar=1.25[0scaled];[0:1]channelsplit=channel_layout=stereo:channels=FL|FR[001_channelsplit][002_channe lsplit];[001_channelsplit]asplit=2[001_asplit][003_asplit];[002_channelsplit]asplit=2[002_asplit][004_asplit]" -map "[0scaled]" -map "[001_asplit]" -map "[002_asplit]" -map "[003_asplit]" -map "[004_aspl it]" -c:v mpeg2video -pix_fmt yuv422p -s 720x576 -b:v 50000000 -maxrate 50000000 -minrate 50000000 -timecode 00:00:00:00 -r 25 -flags +ildct+low_delay -intra -intra_vlc 1 -non_linear_quant 1 -ps 1 -qmin 1 -qmax 3 -top 1 -dc 10 -bufsize 2000000 -rc_init_occupancy 2000000 -rc_buf_aggressivity 0.25 -rc_max_vbv_use 1 -rc_min_vbv_use 1 -aspect 16:9 -c:a pcm_s16le -ar 48000 -f tee "/data/disposable/output_imx50 .mxf" ffmpeg version 5.0 Copyright (c) 2000-2022 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 10.2.1 (Alpine 10.2.1_pre1) 20201203 configuration: --disable-debug --disable-doc --disable-ffplay --enable-shared --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-gpl --enable-libass --enable-fontconfig --enable-libfreetype --enable-libvidstab --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopus --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --disable-libwebp --enable-libxcb --enable-libx265 --enable-libxvid --enable-libx264 --enable-nonfree --enable-openssl --enable-libfdk_aac --enable-postproc --enable-small --enable-version3 --enable-libbluray --enable-libzmq --extra-libs=-ldl --prefix=/opt/ffmpeg --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libkvazaar --enable-libaom --extra-libs=-lpthread --enable-libsrt --enable-libaribb24 --extra-cflags=-I/opt/ffmpeg/include --extra-ldflags=-L/opt/ffmpeg/lib libavutil 57. 17.100 / 57. 17.100 libavcodec 59. 18.100 / 59. 18.100 libavformat 59. 16.100 / 59. 16.100 libavdevice 59. 4.100 / 59. 4.100 libavfilter 8. 24.100 / 8. 24.100 libswscale 6. 4.100 / 6. 4.100 libswresample 4. 3.100 / 4. 3.100 libpostproc 56. 3.100 / 56. 3.100 Unrecognized option 'intra'. How to increase the resolution of video?
by Stephen Liu 21 Feb '22

21 Feb '22

Hi all, I have video captured on V8 tapes in about 1990. They are low resolution video. Recently I sent the tape to a profession shop ripping them on DVD. I have ripped the DVD to computer as .VOB files. On the whole their quality is not so bad except those video taken in-door then the screen not very clear. I'm prepared converting them to .mp4 files and simultaneously increasing the resolution to 640x480 or to 1280x760 to check whether their quality can be improved? The audio is excellent. Please advise what command line shall I run? Thanks in advance. Regards

Still images to video sequence?
by Simon Roberts 20 Feb '22

20 Feb '22

Hi all, I would like to create a video sequence built around a number of still images. Each image would be displayed for a number of seconds, then dissolve/fade (not certain of the terminology) into the next. To date, my experience with ffmpeg has been very limited, so I'm not sure where to start. Would anyone be willing to point me in the right direction? Many thanks for any guidance, Cheers, Simon -- Simon Roberts (303) 249 3613

How can I read multiple audio files in a folder to convert LUFS value?

hi, I made a batch file code to change the LUFS of my Audio Files and it is working and converting the files ok. Turns out it only does this for one file at a time. How can I make it convert multiple files at once?... see my code that is generating one file at a time: @echo off chcp 65001 cls ENDLOCAL SETLOCAL ENABLEEXTENSIONS echo.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- echo Converter LUFS Áudio File (File entry and setting LUFS and True Peak values) echo.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- set /p folder= Enter the FOLDER NAME where the audios to be converted are located: set /p filename= Enter the FULL NAME OF THE FILE to be converted (eg lalala.mp3): set /p vluf= Enter the LUFS VALUE you want to achieve: set /p tpeak= Enter the True Peak VALUE of the audio: echo.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REM Read the file to convert the LUFS value REM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- cd\Users\%username%\Desktop\%folder% ffmpeg -report -i "%filename%" -filter_complex "[0:a]loudnorm=I=-10:TP=-0.0:LRA=11:print_format=summary" -f null x 2>%1.txt @for /f "tokens=3" %%a in ('findstr /C:"Input Integrated" %1.txt') do (set II=%%a) echo %II% is the Input Integrated @for /f "tokens=4" %%a in ('findstr /C:"Input True Peak" %1.txt') do (set ITP=%%a) echo %ITP% is the Input True Peak @for /f "tokens=3" %%a in ('findstr /C:"Input LRA" %1.txt') do (set ILRA=%%a) echo %ILRA% is the Input LRA @for /f "tokens=3" %%a in ('findstr /C:"Input Threshold" %1.txt') do (set IT=%%a) echo %IT% is the Input Threshold @for /f "tokens=3" %%a in ('findstr /C:"Output Integrated" %1.txt') do (set OI=%%a) echo %OI% is the Output Integrated @for /f "tokens=4" %%a in ('findstr /C:"Output True Peak" %1.txt') do (set OTP=%%a) echo %OTP% is the Output True Peak @for /f "tokens=3" %%a in ('findstr /C:"Output LRA" %1.txt') do (set OLRA=%%a) echo %OLRA% is the Output LRA @for /f "tokens=3" %%a in ('findstr /C:"Output Threshold" %1.txt') do (set OT=%%a) echo %OT% is the Output Threshold @for /f "tokens=3" %%a in ('findstr /C:"Target Offset" %1.txt') do (set TO=%%a) echo %TO% is the Target Offset md "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\converting_lufs" REM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REM Generating the audio file with the converted LUFS value REM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ffmpeg -report -show_error -i "%filename%" -af loudnorm=linear=true:I=%vluf%:LRA=11:tp=%tpeak%:measured_I=%II%:measured_LRA=%ILRA%:measured_tp=%ITP%:measured_thresh=%IT%:offset=%TO%:print_format=summary -acodec mp3 -b:a 192k -ar:a 44100 "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\converting_lufs\%filename%" REM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REM Copying the generated file to the folder "Converted LUFS Audio" REM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IF EXIST "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\converting_lufs\*.mp3" ( xcopy "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\converting_lufs\*.mp3" "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\Converted LUFS Audio\" /y /s /i ) del /q "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\converting_lufs\*.*" del /q "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\%folder%\%1.txt" rmdir "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\converting_lufs" /s /q pause thanks Clamarc

RPL Acorn Replay Video - type 7 files
by Robert Schultz 18 Feb '22

18 Feb '22

Greetings I encountered some RPL acorn replay video files of a compression type 7 that ffmpeg doesn't have support for. I submitted a bug report here: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/9655 It includes sample files and a link to the file format. I'd love to see support added to ffmpeg for this compression type. I'm willing to fund the development of adding that type, if that's something that can help get it added :)
