Here's roughly what I use to encode in xvid format:
ffmpeg -i $from -deinterlace -y -vcodec libxvid -b 1000k -acodec libmp3lame -ab 128k -sn -pass 2 $out.avi
i managed some usefull results with that parametrization, i stripped the deinterlace plus -sn parameters, they took took quite a while rendering: #>working on : 20100330_2015_-_SWR_FERNSEHEN_RP_-_TATORT__LEERSTAND.ts #>writing to : /mnt/moonshine/c2/20100330_2015_-_SWR_FERNSEHEN_RP_-_TATORT__LEE$ #>doing a AVI 2Pass encoding from WinEncodeTest ffmpeg -v 2 -threads 2 -y -i "/nfs/dm7025/movie//20100330_2015_-_SWR_FERNSEHEN_RP_-_TATORT__LEERSTAND.ts" -vcodec libxvid -vtag XVID -maxrate 1800kb -b 1200k -qmin 3 -qmax 5 -bufsize 4096 -mbd 2 -bf 2 -flags +4mv -trellis -aic -cmp 2 -subcmp 2 -g 300 -acodec libmp3lame -ar 48000 -ab 192kb -ac 2 -pass 1 -map 0.0 -map 0.1 -map 0.2 "/mnt/moonshine/c2/20100330_2015_-_SWR_FERNSEHEN_RP_-_TATORT__LEERSTAND.avi" -newaudio ffmpeg -v 2 -threads 2 -y -i "/nfs/dm7025/movie//20100330_2015_-_SWR_FERNSEHEN_RP_-_TATORT__LEERSTAND.ts" -vcodec libxvid -vtag XVID -maxrate 1800kb -b 1200k -qmin 3 -qmax 5 -bufsize 4096 -mbd 2 -bf 2 -flags +4mv -trellis -aic -cmp 2 -subcmp 2 -g 300 -acodec libmp3lame -ar 48000 -ab 192kb -ac 2 -pass 2 -map 0.0 -map 0.1 -map 0.2 "/mnt/moonshine/c2/20100330_2015_-_SWR_FERNSEHEN_RP_-_TATORT__LEERSTAND.avi" -newaudio Example: Output #0, avi, to '/mnt/moonshine/c2/20100330_2015_-_SWR_FERNSEHEN_RP_-_TATORT__LEERSTAND.avi': Stream #0.0: Video: libxvid (hq), yuv420p, 720x576 [PAR 64:45 DAR 16:9], q=3-5, pass 2, 1200 kb/s, 25 tbn, 25 tbc Stream #0.1(ger): Audio: libmp3lame, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 192 kb/s Stream #0.2(2ch): Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 192 kb/s Stream mapping: Stream #0.0 -> #0.0 Stream #0.1 -> #0.1 Stream #0.2 -> #0.2 it gives a reasonabel gig- file for 90 minutes if ts- source. But if i take a look at the avi, i see that ther is only 1 mp3 plus another mp2 stream. Why they arent both mp3 as a specified? Thought mp3 will be much smaller than mp2. Another question: Does it make sense to use 192kb for tv speech (simple stereo + amp which has a surround chip - converts stereo -> surround....) or id thst oversized too? Cheers Nj
