[Ffmpeg-user] issue converting to mp4, mpg, 3gp

I am new to ffmpeg. I just installed from cvs on Linux (Fedora 4) and am unable to convert movies into mov, mp4, mpg, 3gp. I have no problem viewing these files in these formats or converting to .flv, .ra or other formats. Help is greatly appreciated.
