does ffmpeg rpm contain all libraries and extras needed?
hi all just wanted to know if anyone had installed rpm's of ffmpeg from http://dag.wieers.com/packages/ffmpeg/ i have installed ffmpeg from src on my local devserver but would prefer to install from rpm on the live server this is how i installed ffmpeg on the devserver, and i would need the same for the live one ./configure --enable-faad --enable-gpl --enable-faac --enable-faadbin --enable-mp3lame --enable-shared --enable-amr_nb installed faad, faac, mp3lame, and amr_nb float before ffmpeg, all is good on the local box, would the above also be installed with an rpm from the site above thanks dave

Well, the ffmpeg lists wont provide support for other versions than latest CVS. So, in case of problem with an rpm, you will have to get support from the packager or install from source.

Depends on how the packager configured ffmpeg! Only way to know: install the rpm, then compare the output from 'ldd ./ffmpeg' and './ffmpeg -h' when run (1) in the directory where the rpm installed its stuff (2) in the top directory of your compilation tree. Regardingr the prerequisite libraries, I dont use rpm but debian's dselect, so I dont know. dselect satisfies dependencies automatically. HaND, -- Michel Bardiaux Peaktime Belgium S.A. rpm is comparable to dpkg. For automatic (well, same issues as on debian) dependency checking, use apt-get (for rpm) or synaptic (for rpm). There is no native tool to do this.

just another quick question i want to uninstall ffmpeg to try the rpm version, i tried running make uninstall from the ffmpeg dir but it said make: *** No rule to make target `uninstall'. Stop. is there anyway to uninstall this cleanly? thanks dave
